The Tennessee special election added Republican Congressman Matt Van Epps to expand the majority to 220 Republicans and 213 Democrats. It was a victory for Republicans but the low voter turnout is creating some anxiety heading into 2026 midterms. Right now is the perfect opportunity for Republicans to take the health care issue out of the hands of Democrats and do something about the expiring ACA subsidies. President Trump has stated he is open to extending them while continuing to deliver on affordability like lowering the price of prescription drugs. Jim McLaughlin, the president's longtime pollster is worried that if healthcare subsidies lapse Trump voters will actually vote with Democrats on this issue. Republicans will need to move on healthcare and affordability or they will surrender the 2026 midterms. In a shocking turn of events, ABC actually reported something that was true. President Trump held the last cabinet meeting of 2025 yesterday. It was the ninth meeting since taking office and lasted 3 hours. President Trump announced Trump accounts in which 25 million children will get $250 put into a Trump account for their future. Pete Hegseth cleared up the decision on the second strike the drug boat, putting his full faith and trust in Admiral Bradley. President Trump inherited a mess, it will take time but he is doing everything he can to make American life affordable again. President Trump signed the bill to reopen the government. Democrats got nothing they wanted out of the deal, no money for illegal aliens and no extensions on ACA subsidies. The nationwide redistricting war is in full effect as President Trump is determined to keep a Republican majority in 2026. It looks like the government shutdown is coming to an end as eight Democrats cave in and join the Republicans. Passing the continuing resolution will take 3 appropriations bills off the table, funding military construction, veterans affairs, the legislative branch and the Department of Agriculture.
