In this episode of the Secrets of a Witch podcast, I discuss something we all experience at least once in our lives - the ending of relationships! Whether it's romantic or friendship, we've all had relationships end, and many of us have been dumped. I talk about how the best way to approach being dumped or left is simply to accept it, rather than fight it or seeking endless conversations and closure. I talk about how closure should come from within ourselves, and we should not rely on others for our own healing process and ability to move on. Closure is within you, nowhere else.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. A lotta witches are miserable, unhappy, and ungrounded - they do magic for the wrong reasons, such as emotional instability, pettiness, anger, jealousy, or something else. Magic can absolutely be worked with to help us heal from trauma (as I talk about in my second graphic novel Bodymagic), however it seems that many people in witchcraft land aren't using magic to heal, but rather to further entrench themselves in their own negative habits, mindsets, and unhealthy ways of thinking. Our magic is limited by our own state of mind. In this episode, I discuss the state of witchy community, and how I think we can all work with magic in better, healthier ways.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. Is forgiveness necessary or relevant when we are healing our trauma, our shadows, and our wounds? Do we need to forgive family members, or anyone who has hurt us in the past? In this episode, I discuss my own healing journey, and how forgiveness - though it was not on my radar at all, and was not something I strived for - somehow happened to me anyway. Is forgiveness necessary for your journey? I explain why or why not, and offer a perspective contrary to what we tend to see in a lot of pop psych woo woo spaces. With so many people seeing family this holiday season, it seems a relevant topic to discuss!-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. Hi friends! It's been a hot minute! ...Why? Well, because I got sick as a dog the day November Mercury Retrograde began, and recovered the day it ended. I'll take you through my lil three week whirlwind into the hellscape of contemplation and reflection, what I learned, why I think it happened, and what you can do and learn if the same thing happened to you (or does in the future). I also go against a lot of Mercury Retrograde advice and reach out to not one, not two, but three people from my past - and all of it goes surprisingly well. Also, Year Ahead Tarot for 2026 is available now! Book your reading at sabrinamscott.com/readings - let's see what the new year has in store for you!-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In this episode, I take some inspiration from my brand new book of mundane magic rituals, A Witch at Home! In preparation for cozy season, I discuss an important ritual that's become a part of my lifestyle - regular audits of the pantry, freezer, and fridge! I discuss how this relates to magic and energetics, and how using what we have (whether it's that can of beans at the back of the pantry, or the soup at the back of the freezer, or the half-done lipstick in our makeup bag) can connect us deeply to the energy of gratitude and abundance. Yes, it's everyday stuff - but trust me, when we notice magic in the every day, our life can drastically change for the better.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. Happy Samhain and Happy Halloween! I start off this episode by talking about how to work with the energy of this moment, and some ritual ideas for this coming weekend. I then - after sharing a few special deals that end today and Monday - discuss a very weird talk I went to last night, by renowned woo woo person Gabby Bernstein! I have been positive-neutral on her, but the talk really left a bad taste in my mouth; I explain how and why that was the case, as well as what that means for people who are very traumatized and seeking healing and help. Should you get therapy or just focus on manifestation? In my opinion, for people in active crisis, they need therapy, not manifestation. I discuss scope creep as well as critique some cult psychology and trauma dumping I experienced in the talk I went to. I end the podcast episode by talking about the importance of perspective, and approaching even unpleasant situations with curiosity.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In this episode, I talk a bit about my brand new book, A Witch at Home: 18 Rituals for Life, Love, and Healing. I'm also back out doing in person markets! I end the episode by discussing the energy around today's new moon in Libra, and how to work with the contemplative stillness of the present moment. -Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In this episode, I discuss how the feminist magazine Jezebel paid Etsy witches to curse Charlie Kirk, and use this to get into a larger issue in the witchcraft and pagan community at large right now - the idea that it is ethical to curse someone for a difference of opinion. The quest for "political purity" within left wing woke witchcraft communities is something we should all be denouncing. Witches are too concerned with aggressively wielding power against those they don't like, and need to take some time and space to ground ourselves in ethics and true morals, and remember what witchcraft is really about - healing ourselves and living a good life. Witchcraft is not about cursing people we disagree with, period. -Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In this episode, I continue discussing the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and I talk about the witchcraft community's response to it. Many famous witches have been celebrating Charlie's murder, and mere days before the assassination, the feminist magazine Jezebel paid some Etsy witches to curse/hex Charlie Kirk. As witches, we should not be condoning this behaviour, and it is important we extricate this rot and toxicity from witchcraft spaces; this work is unethical. -Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In this episode, I begin by remembering the souls who passed on 9/11, and move on to talk about the horrific rise of assassination culture and murder as spectacle, with the recent murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Regardless of what your politics are, we should all be horrified and upset that someone was gunned down - intentionally - for exercising their right to free speech, basically for having even-handed, logical, calm debates with opposing parties out in public. Diversity of thought is foundational to a functioning and healthy democracy; we are all at risk when it becomes commonplace for public intellectuals to get assassinated for their speech. I also talk about grievance culture on the far left, as well as the emotional and intellectual fragility that would cause people to wish to (and justify) lashing out violently against those they disagree with. A heavy but important episode for people of all political persuasions.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. A certain kind of person will be inspired by you one minute and then block you the next. When they realize what you've built isn't quite so easy to achieve overnight, they end up resenting the fact that they ever encountered you. Their own failure at what you inspired them to do makes hem resent you. They shift the blame onto you in order to avoid the pain of their own failure. They don't realize failure is a necessary initiation into the possibility of success. Whatever side of that coin you fall on, whether you're a dreamer, influencer, small business owner, or just a human doing your best to live the best life possible, I'm sure you've failed, been resentful, been resented, been inspired, inspired others, and been tempted to blame everyone for your own failures (and give up on chasing your dreams). This episode talks about all of these complicated things, how they relate to each other, and how we can best look at things through these topsy turvy ups and downs.-JOIN BOOTCAMP: https://sabrinamscott.com/bootcamp-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. Are you overgiving? Are you having a hard time stopping? If so - or if you've experienced this in the past with others or within yourself - you won't want to miss this episode. Overgiving can come from a lack of boundaries, poor self-regulation, refusing to pour into and nourish ourselves, and a desire to be loved, accepted, and valued. Stop overgiving and reclaim your power and personal sovereignty. In this episode, I talk about why people overgive, how to stop overgiving, and how to slow down and pay attention to what your own body is telling you about your own capacity. -JOIN BOOTCAMP: https://sabrinamscott.com/bootcamp-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. Are you constantly making excuses about why you can't change? Do you love the attention and sympathy you get when you complain or act all woe is me? In this episode, I talk about this month's Mercury Retrograde, and how we can work with this energy to reflect on our own relationship to impulsivity, bad habits, and addictive behaviours. I frame this in terms of cultivating healthy masculine energy to contain ourselves and our desire for excess, rather than being at the whims of every feeling we have. This comes up with compulsory sexuality, excessive online shopping, porn usage, arguing online, cheating, drama addiction, and more - these are all energy leaks. If we are witches interested in directing our energy towards our goals, we need to get a handle on our energy leaks! Listen to this episode to learn more and to get some inspiration for what to reflect on this Mercury Retrograde. -Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In life, we will encounter many distractions. Online drama, gossip, pettiness, silly arguments, and more can pull us away from our life path: achieving our life purpose, healing, helping others, and becoming self actualized. In this episode, I talk about the difference between signal and noise in life, how easy it is to be distracted away from what really matters. I also discuss feminine and masculine energy and how they relate to self-regulation, impulsivity, self-control, and whim - why this is all relevant to witchcraft skills - and why this matters for living a good and aligned life. -Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. In this episode, I give my analysis of two recent massive blow-ups in the spiritual wellness and self help influencer space: femininity teacher Wizard Liz' husband cheating on her while she was 4 months pregnant, and self-styled wellness 'guru' Aubrey Marcus basically forcing his gorgeous yet miserable wife into a throuple situation. You may think this is irrelevant to you; maybe it is - I myself had never heard of any of these people before last week. However, there are some interesting similarities here between these stories, the most troubling of which (to anyone who is spiritually minded) is how both of these men used spirituality in predatory ways to manipulate the women in question. Marcus claimed the Goddess Isis told him to impregnate both women; Liz' husband said he was 'spiritually guided' to 'run into her' at an airport. Both men use spirituality to manipulate, and both men are really good examples of what I'd refer to as a toxic, wounded feminine energy. They manipulate, and are unable or unwilling to occupy healthy masculine energy which - above all - protects and contains. For many these two scenarios seemed surprising or out of character, but in this episode I explain some red flags in these men, and failures of the women involved, that all can learn from, especially women who are dating men, or women who are in relationships where they feel coerced to allow indiscretions. I analyze the situation in terms of energetic polarity and healthy/unhealthy feminine energy, and discuss the difference between parroting spiritual/mental health teachings, and actually being able to embody the knowledge we as influencers espouse. I also discuss how these relationships were prematurely escalated with love bombing and false intimacy, and how you can learn from these situations to avoid ending up in something similar yourself. -Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. What if being a heretic is exactly what would set you free? In this episode, I discuss how choosing authenticity over approval—and integrity over conformity—can transform your life in powerful ways. It’s not easy; you may experience loss when you face your fears. I talk about how embracing your inner heretic might just be the most peaceful, soul-aligned decision you ever make, and why.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott. Happy Friday! This episode is inspired by noticing how many, many spiritualists suggest that the physical body is simply 'a vessel' whose physicality they ignore. Completely avoidable health issues, chain smoking, a love of McDonald's, an avoidance of moving towards physical health and fitness: all of this is super common amongst mediums and people who engage in spirituality and mediumship. In this episode, I argue that the physical body - and a healthy, fit relationship to embodiment (and yes, I say this as a disabled person myself) - can be foundational to being an even better and more accurate channel to the spiritual. Our physical body is the instrument through which we 'do' spirituality, be it mediumship, prayer, or something else. Witchcraft itself is a material form of spiritual practice: when we know our body better, when we treat it with love, care, and nourishment, our relationship to spirit and magic can only improve. Sorry, y'all: yes, eating well and working out will give you clearer access to the spiritual.-Secrets of a Witch is a podcast by writer, artist, and spiritual teacher Sabrina Scott.
