It's hard to say goodbye, but even good things must come to an end. We are so grateful for all of your love, support, and encouragement. We hope this has been as much of a blessing for you as it has for us.
Love,
Nick and Thomas
In this episode we start looking more closely at the Christus Victor paradigm of atonement. More specifically, we begin to investigate Jesus's claim that his death would be a "ransom" and what that might mean in terms of atonement.
As we continue our overall project of constructing "A Christian Theology," we're beginning a new mini-series on the doctrine of the atonement. In this episode we introduce the topic and discuss a helpful framework for organizing the different atonement theories.
We're back! After a long delay (sorry!) we're jumping back into our series on a Christ-centered theology and exploring what Jesus reveals about God. In this episode we see how Jesus teaches truth about the nature and character of God in three of his famous parables.
Also, if you haven't already heard, Nick's book The Perfection of Our Faithful Wills is available for purchase at the link below. However, if you become a patron of ours at https://www.patreon.com/SinnergistsPod, you will get a digital copy of Nick's book for free.

In this informal, off-the-cuff episode we discuss our approach to preaching, especially in regard to how we do and do not make use of critical scholarship from the pulpit.
Continuing our series in "A Christian Theology," we look specifically at what Jesus says about God in two of his most famous sermons, the sermon on the mount and the sermon on the plain.
We had a great conversation with author and pastor Becky Castle Miller about her new Jesus-centered discipleship workbook Following King Jesus which she created in collaboration with Scot McKnight. You can order the book at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KF1CMPZ/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_qZrmDb1AQT2W2
After the recent flurry of debate regarding women preaching in the church, our friend and loyal listener Austin Burgard asked if he could share the story of his journey from complementariansim to egalitarianism. You won't believe it until you hear it. We also talk about why, despite what the complementarians loudly assert, the Bible does not forbid women from preaching or serving in ordained ministry.
Since Jesus is the image of the invisible God, what do his words and actions reveal about God's nature and character? That's the question we begin to answer in this episode.
If everything we know about Jesus comes from the Bible, how can we start theology with Jesus without first establishing the inspiration and authority of scripture. In this episode we make a case for the historical reliability of the New Testament gospels and the resurrection of Jesus.
As we kick off our second year of episodes we are launching a new project that we are calling "A Christian Theology." In this episode, we tell a couple Really Bad Pastor Jokes and we answer the question "What is theology, and where do we start?"
In this episode, we have the pleasure of interviewing Bonnie Kristian, author of the book A Flexible Faith: Rethinking What It Means to Follow Jesus Today. It's an accessible, easy-to-read overview of some of the most hotly-contested issues in Christianity. We think you'll enjoy her perspective in this interview and in the book. You can learn more about her and order the book at http://bonniekristian.com/
In this episode we interview the funny and thoughtful Dan Kent, general editor of ReKnew.org and author of the forthcoming book Confident Humility, which you can pre-order at https://www.amazon.com/Confident-Humility-Becoming-Without-Yourself/dp/1506451926/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= (which, if you're interested, you should totally do because it will help make the book more widely available.)

The gospel is "good news," but it doesn't always sound like good news to everyone. In this episode, Nick and Thomas answer the question "Good news for whom?"
Continuing in our "What Is The Gospel?" miniseries, we explore some passages in Paul's letters that clearly indicate that he understood that "the gospel" had non-negotiable implications in the social life of the church. Following are the links we promised in the show.

In this episode Nick and Thomas had the awesome opportunity of interviewing Dr. Matthew Bates, Assistant Professor of Theology at Quincy University and author of the book that we've been raving about, Salvation by Allegiance Alone. Matt shares with us his understanding of the gospel, the meaning and role of pistis (faith/allegiance), and even a pretty bad pastor's joke. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did.
