Today we talk to Mafia historian Justin Cascio about the early stages of the Mafia in Springfield Massachusetts and the emergence of a woman named Pasqualina Albano who became the bootlegging queen of Western Massachusetts. We also delve into some smaller cities that had Mob influence and his work. This episode is significantly different from any other show I've ever done. This week it's time to talk about me for a second as the last year or so has been tough on me. From my father passing away to the rigors of doing mob content to the daily stressors of life. I want to delve into a nearly week ordeal I dealt with and how in the end it truly changed my life for the better. Today I delve into how the Mafia makes money in 2024. The rackets are surely shrinking but the Mob still have a stranglehold on certain industries and businesses. They survive and adapt and I'm going to tell you how. I also chatted about some recent news involving members of the Gotti Family. Jeff Nadu is an American Mafia researcher, podcaster and content creator. The Feast of San Gennaro is among the most popular Italian heritage festivals in America taking place in New York City for ten days in Mid September annually. We know that the Mafia has always loved making money and to the surprise of no one they have been very involved in getting their hands in multiple money pots when it comes to the Feast committing extortion and many other crimes. It's said that the Genovese Crime Family has controlled it since the 1960's. Jeff Nadu is an American Mafia researcher, podcaster and content creator. In Episode 175, I welcome on what some people would call an East Boston legend. John "Johnny Bart" Bartolomeo was a patched in member of the Hells Angels. Ultimately through his criminality he was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Throughout his stay inside he hobnobbed with mobsters like Genovese heavyweight Bobby Manna, Bonanno mobster Bruno Indelicato, mobster Henry Borelli and many more.Check out Johnny Bart on Instagram- @official_johnny_bartolomeoDISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. In Episode 174, I delve into the life of Andrew Campos. Campos is alleged to be a current capo in the Gambino Crime Family. He came up in the 90's as a budding associate in the old LoCascio crew up in the Bronx. He alongside others including Salvatore LoCascio and Richie Martino would engage in making the Mob hundreds of millions in one of the largest consumer fraud cases ever. Today, he's regarded as a top heavyweight in the Gambino Family.DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. All material found in my videos reflect this use. For the entire history of the Bonanno Crime Family up until 2002, the Mafia group NEVER had a cooperator in their ranks. That was until July of that year when family capo Frank Coppa decided to flip and testify against the upper echelon of the Bonannos. Coppa would directly testify against boss Joseph "Big Joey" Massino as well as various others. He was extremely destructive to the future of the Family. Coppa lived a wildly interesting life and had been around the Mob since his early 20's. DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. Today we delve into the wild story of "Crazy" Roger Vella, a young South Philly kid who idolized Joey Merlino. In the end he became Joey's driver, got involved with his own dirt and tried to frame Joey and his friends. That would lead to betrayal like most mob stories. In the first 30 or so minutes of the show I talked about the recent brawl involving a Philly mobster last week and the fallout from it. I then answered some of your questions on the Mafia. The biography starts at around 35 minutes, but I urge you to listen to the whole show!DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. In this episode for the first 15 minutes or so we delve into the recent arrest of Sinaloa Cartel founder and kingpin El Mayo Zambada. After that I talked about Michael Blutrich who was the owner and founder of Scores Gentlemen's Club in Manhattan. In the early 90's he would open the business in the territory of the Gambino Crime Family. He was quickly shaken down by associates of the crew and down the road faced the consequences of dealing with them. The FBI wanted John Gotti Jr so they used Blutrich to get him.DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. All material found in my videos reflect this use. The original Fulton Fish Market opened on the lower half of Manhattan in the early 1820's. For nearly 200 years it operated as one of the biggest East Coast fish markets in the world. Sadly though when money is made and profits are in the millions and billions, the Mafia shows up and today I detail the control the Mob had on the Fulton Fish Market and the players that made millions ultimately in the early 2000's closing the original market and moving it to the Bronx to another market that was also controlled by the Lucchese Crime Family.DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. Today we delve into mobster Joseph Stassi who was a complete Mafia enigma. He goes way back to the early 1920's when he gained the respect of people like Meyer Lansky. He operated with a cold demeanor and was looked at as a very callous killer who made a ton of money through numbers and eventually casinos in Cuba. He was extremely respected by many Mob Families and was willing to do whatever he was told. DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. Today we welcome former Chicago police officer Jerry Finnigan to the show. Jerry at one point was a decorated cop who was given various awards for his abilities to get guns and drugs off the street. Philadelphia is a city rich in the annals of crime. From the Mafia to black gangs to bikers. One of the lesser known organized crime groups that operated in South Philadelphia over the years is the 10th and Oregon Crew. They are a tale of two different stories that came face to face with the Philly Mob and Joey Merlino and other groups like the Pagans that led to some wild stories during their time on the street.DISCLAIMER: My videos and podcasts are meant for entertainment and educational use. I love love love your podcast. I am 100% entertained with the cherry picking on which fool in the life was a rat or a psychopath. EVERY man in the life was a sociopathic, physcopath out of touch, crazy person. Your research is on point, keep giving us the goods.
