Description

America, we gotta get back to doing what's expected of us as free citizens in this democracy. That means being tolerant, being respectful, staying informed, and being engaged. I'm former Congressman Joe Walsh. Follow me here and join the millions of Americans who are renewing their social contract with each other. The social contract. It's on us.

Trump didn’t win it. And he didn’t deserve to win it. Because he’s decorated war on the people of the United States, because he’s trying to imprison his political opponents, because he’s a fascist. And the Nobel Peace Prize should never go to a fascist. Especially a fascist who was begging for the award. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
I sat down with April Ajoy, someone who grew up in the Christian nationalism movement, and is now doing everything she can to help people understand the movement, understand how it goes against everything Jesus taught, and understand the real threat it is to America. Fascinating conversation. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
I sat down with Rev Benjamin Cremer, to discuss the growing threat of Christian nationalism, what it is, where it comes from, and why we need to take it seriously. We also discussed how what this country is doing to immigrants right now is antithetical to Jesus’s teachings. Have a listen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
He’s trying to send troops to both Chicago and Portland as he continues his militarization of this country. It’s wrong, it’s unconstitutional, it’s un-American, but why is he doing it? Why? We all need to brace ourselves for the scary, ugly truth. Unlike January 6th, we can’t be caught off guard or surprised again. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Armed, masked agents from our federal government raided an entire apartment complex in Chicago the other night, breaking down doors, throwing American citizens out into the streets, and detaining them for hours. The very thing the British monarchy did to us so many years ago. The very thing our founders rebelled against and sought independence from. And it’s happening in America again. Hosted on Acast. The establishment and the leadership of my new political party just doesn’t get this moment. Just doesn’t understand the unique threat we face right now. So…it’s time for the Democratic Party establishment to get out of the way. And it’s time for the Democratic Party grassroots to lead the way. Fascinating conversation with long time Democratic consultant & strategist, Julie Roginzky. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The stories are endless…American citizens being grabbed and swept up in these cruel, senseless ICE raids and detentions. An American citizen working on a construction site was detained twice by ICE in four weeks. And held for hours each time. He’s now suing the government. Good. But his story, sadly, is not unique. Not at all. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Yes, it was unserious, yes, it was performative, and yes, it was a major national security risk. But the reason Donald Trump & Pete Hegseth summoned 800 of our top military commanders from around the world to all meet at a base outside DC today was much more serious, and much, much more frightening. For the umpteenth time, this should never happen in America. This is what our founders feared. And in the year 2025, it’s exactly what Trump is doing. Putting the military on our streets against the American people. We must not allow it. He should be taken to court immediately, and we all should protest like we’ve never protested before. Trump made very clear during the 2024 election that if elected, he was going to go after his political opponents. Retribution was going to be his focus. And that’s what he’s doing. And he’s taken over the Justice Department to do it. And we can blame Trump and his enablers for allowing this fascism to happen. But the real fault lies with the American people. Trump said he would do this but too many Americans just didn’t care Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
As always, political violence is ALWAYS wrong. And…masked agents grabbing people off of our streets and disappearing them into unmarked vans is ALSO wrong. And un-American. We are telling people from around the world to stay away from America. Shame on us. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
I’ve only been a Democrat a few months. I sat down with two long time Democrats. Turns out we disagree on plenty of policy, Israel/Gaza included. But we listened to each other and had a conversation. Not a debate, a conversation. And btw, we agreed that policy differences right now are ok. All that matters right now is preserving democracy. Hosted on Acast. Watching that press conference yesterday, with the world’s biggest idiot talking about autism & vaccines & Tylenol & pregnancy, I actually thought for the first time in a long, long time that we’re completely fucked and there’s no coming back from this. Woke up this morning, wondering the same. We put a horrible human being in the White House. Democrats don’t understand how it happened, and Republicans don’t give a f#ck. Hosted on Acast. We’re fighting a monster. The antithesis of the social contract is sitting in the White House. Being tolerant and respectful means fighting back against his intolerance and disrespect. Being informed means keeping the lines of communication open with everyone in our community, then sharing the facts we learn with others. And staying engaged means resisting with everything we’ve got. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

John's loud-mouthed belligerence is designed to disguise the weakness of his positions. I would never be able to keep this kind of conversation going.

Thanks for -how rare!- a respectful and meaningful discussion on Israel/Palestine. David tackles very difficult questions in an astute and fair way.

So racism is wrong, but racist trolling is fine. And condemning anything at all is just virtue signalling, except condemning a defensive war. Exasperating, just listening to all this. I admire Joe's stamina, doggedly driving this conversation.

I started listening but couldn't finish. All the same false equivalence, red herring and other bad faith debate from a "repeat the tired lines, R no matter what" asshat

I thought it kind of funny - Derek spent equivalent amounts of time obsessing about Bill Kristol to the time he spent objecting to folks obsessing about Trump!
