Heaven (As It Is On Earth)
(English language haiku by Jonatha Chance)
Down here, I can see
Heaven (as it is on Earth):
Too many angels.

Chapter Eight presents the next movement of my musical work in progress, The Disquieting: [IV] The Half-Life Of Transcendence. This section offers an apology to the Himalaya, an exceptional place where the earth and the heavens embrace. For context, I examine the history and present of Mount Everest, share recent literary research into Salman Rushdie’s best-known novel, and consider the transcendental implications for the peculiar human habit of climbing mountains.

Chapter Seven: Hold The Magic In Your Palm.

Hold The Magic In Your Palm
(English language haiku by Jonatha Chance)
Glowing pixels call
Hold the magic in your palm
And be born again.
Chapter Seven situates social media within an epistemological frame to better understand what role it plays in the production, dilution, fabrication, and destruction of knowledge. I seek out the interplay of magic, religion, and technology while considering social media as part of a continuous transformation described by Marshall McLuhan. I examine the dynamics of the “attention economy” and consider its interactions with journalism and media policy. I consider the role of social tech in the events of January 6. I muse about two films that are important touchstones for the discourse of social media.

Chapter Five: The Sound Of The Furies.
Written, Produced, and Hosted by Christine Bush.

Chapter Five explores the nature of noise and some of the cultural dynamics noise activates. Noise has played an important role in scientific discovery and has application in acoustics, audio engineering, and political psychology. In this chapter, I also consider examples of its use in visual art, cinema, literature, sound art performance, and its relevance to the current discourse about race. We should resist dismissing noise as merely a sonic irritant.

Hi, I'm Christine Bush, writer, producer, and host of The Soundtrack Of Now: A Sojourn In Sound™. I'm busy working to prepare the first chapter and look forward to publishing it in the near future. The Soundtrack Of Now™ is a twice monthly offering. We will investigate the emergence of thought from the experience of listening with a focus on sound art, sound studies, and the process of creating original works of sound and music.
I hope that The Soundtrack Of Now: A Sojourn In Sound™ will be a stimulating and engaging listening experience for anyone. I extend an explicit invitation to musicians, composers, sound artists...podcasters, multimedia producers, audiophiles...philosophers of sound studies, poets, and artists. We are each engaged with the same drive to express and, in so doing, to better understand expression. In these early days of production, nothing is more important than having you subscribe to The Soundtrack Of Now: A Sojourn In Sound™.
If you would like to learn more just click on the link that will take you to Patreon.com/perchance where the latest information on this project will always be found. I also invite you to use the cool messaging feature here on Anchor.fm that allows you to add your voice to the discourse of the show.
