In this Episode of The Spa Strong Podcast, we had the pleasure of speaking with Kenesha Coleman. Kenesha is a Certified Public Accountant based in Chicago, IL. She is the owner of Coleman Tax where she works specifically with Beauty Entrepreneurs to help them stay on top of all their tax and accounting needs. Understanding the ins and outs of accounting and taxes is not easy, and it isn’t something we learn about in esthetics school. Often times, estheticians face issues with their taxes and with staying on top of their expenses and where their money is going. That’s where a CPA like Kenesha comes in! After working as an auditor for the IRS, Kenesha realized that too few small businesses understand the complicated process of filing taxes and taking full advantage of write-offs or other money-saving opportunities. So she has dedicated her career to helping beauty entrepreneurs have the accounting and tax support they need. Listen in to learn about the differences between a book keeper, accountant, CPA, etc, and about other resources you should take advantage of to keep your money organized as a beauty business owner! In this Episode of The Spa Strong Podcast, we wanted to talk to y’all about safety today! This is something we are both so passionate about and we know it’s been a while since we’ve discussed it! So get ready for some empowerment (and some laughs!) during this Episode. Royal has been a police officer for 5 years, and M’Lisa went through most of the LAPD Police Academy, so here we share our 5 favorite safety tactics we learned from our Academy training. Now, you may be thinking, “Okay that’s nice and all, but I’m not a cop, so do I really need to know this stuff??” The answer is YES! Even if you aren’t a police officer, the tactics we share are so applicable and important to know in this unpredictable world we live in. So grab your notebook and listen to our 5 favorite safety tactics: Keep your head on a swivel Keep your gun hand free Greet everyone around you Be aware of the threats and cover Give commands What do each of those actually mean for you? You’ll have to listen to find out! And don’t forget to download the cheat sheet (directly above!) so you can get the most out of this Episode. In this Episode of The Spa Strong Podcast, we had the pleasure of speaking with David Lee. David is a website developer and owner of Beauty Business Info, where he creates websites for beauty professionals. David’s philosophy is that your website should WORK for you. In this episode, we dive into what that means, why it matters, and what needs to change if your website isn’t where it should be already! He also explains more about the service Beauty Business Info provides for beauty pro’s, the resources available on the sites they create, and the investment— Which, can we just say, is extremely affordable considering what you’re getting! As someone who created her own websites for years, I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am that we finally just paid someone else to do it for us this time around. You’ve got better things to do with your time than learn how to navigate a website creation site, learn and edit code, figure out how to trouble shoot and fix bugs, etc. If you’re in need of a new site, Beauty Business Info may be a great option for you! In this capacity, her job was to seek out unlicensed and unregulated activity for several license types including COSMETOLOGY AND ESTHETICS! As soon as we found out about this, we knew we wanted her to be a guest on the Podcast! As you know, we are big on rules, regulations, and maintaining high standards in your capacity as a licensed esthetician. Hearing Shea dive into the health and safety risks of unlicensed activity confirms the need for proper education, licensing, and continuing education.
