Last week Paul and Carla were able to pick 13 winners and now y’all have to hear about it all week. Maybe the season hasn’t gone too well, so we’ll take a strong week to power us through the end of the year! We remind you that Paul’s Picks is a comedy performance as we look ahead at the NFL games this upcoming week and try to deduce who will win. DEDUCE! We take a look at the Raiders-Texans game and even talk a bit about the Rockets as trading rumors start heating up. What are your expectations for the Texans and Rockets this season? Your Houston Texans dominate a game they should have dominated beating the Cards 40-20. We look at a RB stepping up in a big spot. Talk about injuries and our hopes going forward for the rest of the year. Then we talk about the refs…I’m sorry about the Rockets-Nuggets game. I forgot the refs weren’t the star of that show. The Rockets lose in overtime to a great team…but with a little help from a bad call. Then we ask Santa for some help for the Astros this winter. What’s on your Astros Christmas Wishlist?Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
The Texans are on a roll, but the picks are…not. This season has had more ups and downs than a broken elevator, but that hasn’t broken our spirits as we try to pick ourselves back up and picks some winners. After the comedy routine of trying to pick winners, we discuss the Rockets scrapping by the Clippers and some Astros Winter Hot Stove Rumors.Vamos vamos Astros Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
After a week off to eat food and sleep, Paul and Carla are back to talk Texans as they step into the national narrative as KC Destroyers. Let’s not over-react yet, but: what a great win for this team and it keeps the season hopes alive for this football team that started the season so poorly. We also look at the Rockets and talk about which lineup you might prefer. And finally talk about Jake Meyers’ future with the Astros. I hope you all ate well and are very grateful. Please remember I’m not the slender man.Vamos vamos Astros Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
Happy Thanksgiving; let’s talk turkey, y’all. On this week of Paul’s Picks we try to keep our success on a roll and pick Thanksgiving winners. Paul goes ham on pigskin pickem but get’s squashed in his fantasy football matchup. We then check in with the Rockets as they beat the stuffing out of the Suns and look to get saucy against the Warriors. We’ll take some time for the holidays, but it’s all gravy, baby—we’ll be back next week.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
These Houston teams have a lot of fight in them and put it on display this week. The Texans came away with a big win against the Bills at home to keep hopes alive in H-Town. But the Rockets were not able to outlast the Denver Nuggets in NBA Cup Play. Plus, we knew we were Dubi stans in this house; but it seems like all of H-Town poured one out when Mauricio Dubón was traded. So we check-in with what stage of grief our listeners may be in. Today’s Paul’s Picks episode is hijacked by the sad news that fan favorite utility gold glove winner Mauricio Dubón is headed to Atlanta in return for SS Nick Allen. But first Paul talks Texans and looks into a foggy crystal ball to see which NFL teams are gonna be winners this week. Then we take a peak at the 10-3 Rockets and their game in Cleveland. And finally get around to looking at the Dubón trade and what we think the Astros ownership and front office are attempting to accomplish. How emotional are you today H-Town? The sky is crying over here in LA because Carla and I are so sad. The sun’ll come out tomorrow…well, maybe not over here. I can’t predict the weather! I can barely predict winners. You’ll always have a home in Houston, Dubi. Vamos vamos Houston. Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
The Texans win (even though it left a bad taste in the mouths of Texans fans and Titans defensive-linemen) and the Rockets continue to stay hot with a come-from-behind OT win against the Magic. We talk about the rise to mediocrity for the Texans this season, learn that CJ Stroud is out for another week, and discuss the game. Then we look at the Rockets great win against the Magic in a never-give-up effort that is making many fans excited about the potential for this team. KD, Al-P and…Reed Sheppard? That’s right, Reed has gone from whipping boy to social media darling as Rockets fans are excited about the young PG. We also talk Jose Altuve’s foot and say bye to Ramon Urías in The Astros Winter Hot Stove. Also, thank so much for supporting the podcast. It was a great week for us here. Thanks so much for all the support.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
Welcome back to the only NFL picks show with the guts to admit it’s a comedy show! Come and laugh with me as I try to win my friends Sleeper league and I attempt to make weekly picks and hold myself accountable to them. How are you doing this season, fam? I also talk about the Rockets great start to the season and last but not least: Astros Winter Hot Stove begins and we start throwing out names to dream about, look at some comments from GM Dana Brown and start speculating about next season.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
Not gonna lie, they had us in the beginning…the Texans and the Rockets both put on fourth quarter shows for fans of the H on Sunday. The Houston Texans have declared that their season is not dead yet with a 36-29 win. They are now 4-5 and have hope to turn this season around. How hopeful are you feeling H-Town? And then to keep the party going the Rockets had their own fourth quarter come back to beat the Bucks 122-115. (The Rox also lost to the Spurs in their NBA Cup group match but we don’t wanna talk about it.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
It’s Thursday or Wednesday, so you know what that means: it’s time for Paul’s Picks. This week Paul does know what day of the week it is (maybe) and we go through the NFL lines and games to try to pick the winners. The Texans season is on the line this week as they matchup against divisional rival Jacksonville. Is it delusional to have hope still? Or is the season over now that we officially have the panic meter out? We also look back at a lack-luster season to see how we stack up compared to your season so far. But that’s not all, folks! We also get to talk about more Rockets winning and the Astros are officially getting ready for the next season of baseball that is just months away. The Houston Texans are now 3-5 after struggling to score in a 18-15 loss to the Broncos. CJ Stroud will be out for at least one week and the Texans are in a bind, because they’re way behind but Nick Caserio wasn’t willing to make a deal. Luckily, we can also talk about the Houston Rockets. The Rox are on a 4 game winning streak-after a slightly slow start-and it looks like there is still some hope in Houston. Also, the Houston Astros are looking to hire Victor Rodriguez to be a hitting coach in Houston. The Astros winter starts now and we’re here for all the news and rumors. Baseball season is officially over, free agency is about to begin and it’s time to get into your emotions as we look back at the Houston Astros 2025 season. We try to be even-keeled and laid-back over here, but this episode we go hunting for a scapegoat for what happened last year! We take a look at the usual suspects and rank them for who this pod blames the most. We’re putting the season to rest and ready to start thinking about the promise of next year. How would you rank the ‘scapegoats’? Who do you blame? Listen to the end for the real answer, H-town…Vamos vamos Astros Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
I finally had a good week and you think that’d boost my confidence, but I’m too timid to be getting too spicy…we need wins not takes! We take a look at the matchups and do our best. We also don’t know what day of the week it is?? That’s right. The whole time I was recording I thought it was Thursday, but producer Carla never corrected me…so it’s kinda her fault too right? Also, the Texans are coming off of a win, but now they matchup against the Broncos and have a big prove it game. Nico and Christian are back…are the Texans back? We’ll see.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
The reverse jinx (that I totally intended…) worked and the Texans were able to win 25-15 at home. We look at the numbers a bit and look back at the game. We also talk about the negativity that has surrounded the Texans the last week. The Rockets lost a physical game to Detroit and apparently there is still some baseball still going on. Also in breaking sports news: gambling is may not be the most straightforward way to make money…and it may be crooked. *gasp*Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
And we’re back with more NFL picks in this never ending comedy bit that is Paul trying to pick the winners. Last week was unkind and forgettable, so we’re hoping to turn the corner and get a double digit win week. Easier said than done. We also go spiraling about the Houston Texans season so far and all the emotions that it has brought to the surface for fans. How are you holding up, H-Town? Let’s pick some winners or at least laugh at the losses this week.Vamos vamos Houston. Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
The Houston Rockets are ready to make some noise in the NBA this season. They showed up to give us an amazing season opener. And even though they lost, there is a strong sense of optimism for this team if this is how they’re gonna play. We look at the Rox game and then sadly take a look at our Houston Texans dropping a less-than-optimistic game against the Seattle Seahawks. This offense needs some help. We then finish off with a little baseball as the Astros signed a potential starting pitcher. (Not exactly the October news we’d hope for but…here we are. It could be worse though. Some teams have never been to a WS.) So gather your emotions and lets talk about some H-Town sports.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
Another week of football and another week of Paul’s Picks. This season has been…inconsistent here at Paul’s Picks and we’re looking to steady the ship with another week of double digits wins. So, why is Paul picking with his gut so much? Ay caramba, it’s gonna be a long season if our host doesn’t fix his gut soon. We pick all the (hopeful) winners, talk some Texans, check in with the Rockets, and tease an Astros off-season podcast episode to come soon!Vamos vamos Texans Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
Jim Crane and the Houston Astros have been evaluating everybody! (I hope they don’t evaluate this podcast…) And so far some big names have been let go: hitting coaches Alex Cintron and Troy Snitker. As well as their Head Athletic Trainer. We look at who’s staying and who’s going so far on this busy Astros news day. Then we look ahead to this NFL week (and try to forget the NFL picks from last week…) and pick the winners in Paul’s Picks.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
The Houston Texans were able to get their first win in the history of the franchise in Baltimore this past week. Is the 44-10 win enough to inspire hope for the Texans season? Could this be a sign of good things to come for the O-Line and offense, or is this just trying to get our collective hopes up!? The Texans spread the ball around and had a humming offense and their defense has been stellar, let’s get into it!Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe
