This month we're learning more about the world of Multimodal from people who've studied the field. In this episode co-host Jan König (co-founder at Jovo) and I (Sam Warnaars, Principal Consultant at Merkle Netherlands) talk with Tony Sheeder (Magic Leap).Karen has nearly 25 years of experience in the field of Voice. Over the years she has worked with many of the iconic brands that fill the voice history timeline. If there is someone to set the scene for our multimodal theme, it's her.We had a couple of main questions starting the show:- What is Multimodal?- How do you design for it?- What do you see moving forward?About Space RaceMerkle's Space Race shares our exploration in new technological territories. Space Race is the show where we explore emerging technologies. The first season of Space Race is all about the different aspects of Voice. This month we're learning more about the world of Voice UX from people who've studied the field. In this episode co-host Anja de Castro (Conversational UX Designer and Ambassador of Women in Voice and member of the Voice Taskforce at DDMA) and I (Sam Warnaars, Principal Consultant at Merkle Netherlands) talk with Sophie Kleber (Expert in Intuitive Interfaces).Sophie Kleber has been on our radar for quite some time. I first met her at SXSW 2018, where she talked about whether it would be possible to create a universally likeable Voice personality (and whether we should). She talked at Open Voice in Amsterdam in 2018, and was guest at one of the early VoiceCast episodes at BNR Newsradio. We met again to talk about how Voice is evolving. Both Anja and I were very exicted to catch up with her at her apartment in Berlin (while she happens to live and work in New York). We had two main questions starting the show: Why do we design our assistants so much like humans? Most Voice interfaces now are (complex) if-this-than-that schema's, what direction do you expect this to develop into?
