Tony and Thacher are back with Kenny Taylor and Kelly Harrass to talk about the big how, the granddaddy of them all, San Diego Comic -Con and (most) of the news that came out of one of the biggest events in convention season. Lots of stuff this week including the new Batman v Superman trailer (now featuring Wonder Woman, hipster Lex Luthor and the neverending battle about Man of Steel), Suicide Squad, Batman/Ninja Turtles, Rom, Ash vs the Evil Dead, Star Wars Episode VII and even a little bit of wretling so Tony can take a nap! The Super-Fly Podcast: Don't call it a hiatus we've been lazy for years Closing Music: Adam WarRock - Striker Eureka
This week it's all sunshine, roses, and candy bars as Kenny Taylor and Kelly Harrass join Travis and Thacher for the Super-Fly Book Club. This month we're all pretty damn pleased with everything that we've been reading and hearing about, leading us all to wonder if there's maybe too much good stuff happening. Books we talked about this week include (deep breath) Batman, Detective Comics, Omega Men, Action Comics, Convergence, Section Eight, Bizarro, Secret Wars, Where Monsters Dwell, Ghost Racers, Planet Hulk, Howard the Duck, No Mercy, Airboy, Stray, Kaptara, Transformers vs G.I. Joe, TMNT, and Star Wars. Phew, that's some good reading! I'm Nick Lachey, for The Super-Fly Podcast, brought to you in part by Neil DeGrassi High
With Jared out sick it's a slow week of Super-Fly news, but the rest of the gang talks about the announcement of Fallout 4 and what we may expect from the franchise, the first bits and pieces of Marvel's post Secret Wars plans, and DC's post-Convergence moves. The Super-Fly Podcast: You can't end it on a high note
This week the gang's all back together for our Previews Preview show but first Tony and Jared recount their harrowing tale of going there and back again to the Cherry Capital Comic Con. It's a ripping yarn of construction, condos, camaraderie, and car trouble. All this and ants, too! Once we get through that it's a look at the June's Bombshell-centric Previews catalog, now with 100% more head-scratching Travis-isms! The Super-Fly Podcast: Hulk Hogan is the Doctor Who of Wrestling
After nearly a month off due to conventions, Free Comic Book Day, and technical difficulties we're finally back with a new episode. Tony and Thacher are joined once again by First Aid Comic's Kenny Taylor as we talk C2E2, FCBD, trailers for Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, as well as Arrow, Flash, Agents of SHIELD and...MASH? Then it's time for our monthly Blook Club as we talk Secret Wars #1 & 2, Thor #8, Convergence, Multiversity, Superman #40, Batman #40, Harrow County, Mystic, Injection, Red One, Trees vol 1, Swords of Sorrow, and Bitch Planet. All that (with some spoilers) plus taking on the X-Men/FF film rights "birthers." The Super-Fly Podcast: Watch some MASH and eat some Okra.
This week, Tad is getting ready to transfer himself to TN, King Travis is in-studio for the first time in a number of months, trailers for EVERYTHING came out this week, Daredevil beat up viewer's bandwidth, we talk about upcoming events like C2E2 and Free Comic Book Day and singing, singing, SINGING!!! A great show leading into Tony and Jared never sleeping this summer. Check it out.
This week there isso much to talk about as Thacher and Travis are once again joined by Kelly Harrass of Lost World of Wonders and Kenny Taylor of First Aid Comics in Hyde Park. Together the gang talks about the comics they read over the past month (with some spoilers) including the Convergence books of the first week (including #0 & #1), the Avengers Secret Wars tie-ins, Deadpool, Batman Eternal, No Mercy, Multiversity, Darth Vader, and Superior Iron Man. Then the guys sink their teeth into some spoiler-free to spoiler-lite discussion of the latest Netflix binge-worthy phenomenon, Marco Polo. Oh wait, I mean Daredevil. Yeah, definitely Daredevil. Nice try, Netflix. (Note: the Daredevil discussion is at the end of the show with a clear delineation, so if you want absolutely no information about it you can stop listening there. But it's Monday, you should've seen SOME of it already). The Super-Fly Podcast: aka Marco Polo's giant jerk-off hand
It's our monthly Previews Previews show, going through the April 2015 catalog. This week we're joined by proud new poppa Travis Fowler as we talk about upcoming books and stuff, including the best thing to eat a couple cans of chili in and which comic creator duo is the modern day equivalent of hot-shot 70's cops. The Super-Fly Podcast: We tell no lies
This week's podcast is a dozy. A post-Gem City Comic Con round table featuring some of the road warriors of the convention scene such as Chuck Moore, Dirk Manning, Tony Miello, Steve Scott and Fred Hausen the second. We talk life on the road, Gem City Comic Con, media comic conventions vs pure comic shows and the effect on the business and so much more. If you've ever wanted a look inside to mind of workin-class comic pros, this is the show for you. The Super-Fly Podcast: Destroying toilets is part of the life on the road Closing music: Hudson Mohawke - Thank You
This week the gang is all back together just in time for the comics internet to become a collective landscape of horror and misery. Despite trying to celebrate the good times of the new Super-Fly store layout and an email from the Space King himself we end up with our own downer ending as we discuss the Chris Sims/Val D'orazio conflict as well as the drama surrounding the Batgirl #41 Joker cover. The Super-Fly Podcast: Celebrate us not being adults
This week's show is super-sized as Tony and Travis return and we're once again joined by Kenny Taylor as well as Super-Fly Ogre Nick Chojnowski. Before we get to the Book Club portion of the program there's plenty of Super-Fly News to discuss, including the massive store restructuring and another Super-Fly rap show with MegaRan, Storyville, and Sammus. Then we get to talking about what we've been reading this month, including Help Us Great Warrior, Hawkeye, Howard the Duck, Spider-Woman, Numbercruncher, Nameless, Batman, Batman Eternal, Squirrel Girl, and Uncanny X-Men. It's a whole lot of show! The Super-Fly Podcast: Now with pre-Super-Fly News
This week Thacher is joined by Kelly Harrass of Lost World of Wonders in Milwaukee and Kenny Taylor of First Aid Comics in Chicago to go through the March Previews catalog. On the way we talk about the most recent episodes of Gotham and Agent Carter (including the finale), a mini PoP-Cast Wrestling Episode, and some spoilers for Will Arnett and Amy Poehler's marriage. Once we get there there's plenty of talk about how Convergence and Secret Wars stack up against each other now they they're both in the same month and whether or not it's fair to compare the two. All in all, it's a wild ride. The Super-Fly Podcast: proud sponsors of the Harley Quinn Black History Month Special
This week Thacher returns for one of our best/worst shows ever! After his #MegaBusGate he busts out some life tips while Tony talks about the awesome new bunk bed that he got. And I guess we talk about Jason Momoa as Aquaman and a host of other movie news and so-called analysis, as well as recounting some of the worst movies ever made. No seriously, this episode is great. The Super-Fly Podcast: Pull up your pants!
This week on the show, we welcome back Jared, talk Spider-Man showing up in Marvel's movie universe and what they can and can't do with him, Robert Kirkman's Outcast getting picked up for a tv show and the future of future comic-based media on prime time, Deadpool movie updates, new video games comic out and a lot of Eminem puns. The Super-Fly Podcast: #DonaldGrover4SpiderMan Closing music: Bruno Mars x Trinidad James - Uptown Gold Everything (Mashup)
