Story: Amarah's Escape & Sphinx Bazel FoundStory by: Gail Nobles © 2025Cover Illus. by: Gail NoblesAmarah awoke the Captain as she charged at the drunk Navy man, shouting. After delivering a swift kick, the Navy man tumbled to the floor. Retrieving her baton, Amarah directed the Captain to her cabin to explain the situation. She told him that the Navy man had attempted to steal from her. The Captain instructed two guards to detain the drunken sailor, stating, “I’ll handle him in the morning. He’s had too much to drink.” Once everyone left Amarah’s cabin, she stepped outside for some fresh air and signaled to the ship that was trailing them. The retired Navy men recognized her signal and sent a lifeboat to her. Kim boarded the lifeboat, making her escape. She climbed aboard the other ship, relieved to see her husband’s friends, hopeful that they would locate her husband before the other crew could. The next morning, the Captain discovered that Amarah was missing. He sensed that the other ship was following him, but his primary concern was finding her husband, not Amarah. Upon their arrival in Africa, the Captain reassured Amarah that her husband would be located, warning her to refrain from any foolishness. The Captain quickly tracked down Sphinx Bazel who had been missing with Flip. He shackled the large man and brought him aboard their ship, where he towered over the rest of the crew. They tried to extract information about Flip from him, but he insisted he didn’t know where he was. The Navy men resorted to punching and harassing him, leaving Amarah increasingly worried.DJ Flip
Story: Amarah's BatonStory by: Gail Nobles © 2025Cover Illus. by Gail NoblesAmarah’s anxiety and anger increased with each passing moment. The Navy was searching her home for her husband DJ Flip, they had uncovered the truth about the colossal seahorse monster, and they were also searching for Sphinx Bazel. They intended to take Amarah in for questioning. Amarah remained calm, hoping they would locate her husband, and decided to accompany them to address their inquiries. She brought her baton with her, which served not only as a weapon but also as a phone and could be extended. She anxiously awaited a call from her husband. All she could tell the Navy personnel was that her husband had vanished with the seahorse monster and Bazel into the underground level. The officers kept Amarah away from her home for a while as they conducted their investigation. The Navy discovered a trail leading from the underground floor. They boarded their naval ship to pursue the three individuals they were searching for. Amarah was aware that some of the Navy personnel were corrupt, while others, retired and serving on another ship, were good friends with her husband.Amarah asked, “Where are we going?” Captain Bill replied, “To Africa.” The ship navigated the river near the mountains where Amarah lived. Meanwhile, the retired Navy crew followed behind on another ship, hoping to locate Flip first. Amarah journeyed alongside Captain Bill and his crew, wishing to join the retired team on their ship.During the voyage, Amarah rested in her cabin alone. When she awoke, she found one of the Navy men searching through her duffle bag. He was drunk and trying to take her baton. “Put that back!” Amarah shouted. She was skilled in reclaiming the baton from the intoxicated man and was well-versed in using it. That night, she charged at him, causing him to cry out in pain and wake the captain. You're listening to the Tale of DJ Flip. Story by Gail Nobles © 2025DJ Flip
Story: Sphinx Bazel in Africa 2Story by Gail Nobles © 2025Illustration by Gail NoblesDays turned into weeks. The women, their initial fear slowly giving way to curiosity, brought Bazel food: fruits he didn't recognize, roasted tubers, and sometimes, small, cooked animals. One day, the eldest woman, the one who had saved his life, approached the cage. She held out a clay bowl filled with water. Instead of just setting it down, she knelt, her eyes meeting his. She dipped a cloth into the water and gently wiped his face, removing the grime and sand that had accumulated. It was a simple act of kindness, of recognition, of shared humanity. Bazel reached out and gently took the cloth from her, mirroring her action. He washed his own face, then offered the cloth back to her.A small, hesitant smile flickered across the woman's face. Over time, understanding bloomed. He learned to communicate in simple ways, drawing in the sand, using gestures, slowly picking up a few words of their language. He learned about their lives, their traditions, their fears, and their joys. He helped them with their crops, sharing knowledge from his world, and in turn, he learned from them the ancient wisdom of survival and strength. One day, after many moons had passed, the woman approached the cage. She held a knife. Fear gripped Bazel, but he saw not malice in her eyes, but sorrow. With a silent nod, she cut the vines that held the cage together. He was free.He could have left, returned to his old life, told his incredible story. But something had changed within him. He had learned something profound about the human spirit, about the power of compassion, about the interconnectedness of all things. He chose to stay. He had found a new home, a new family, a new understanding of himself and the world. The cage that imprisons us is not always made of vines or bars. Often, it is built of fear, prejudice, and a failure to recognize the shared humanity in those who seem different. True freedom comes not from escape, but from the willingness to see beyond our own limitations and to embrace the kindness that can be found in the most unexpected of places, even within the faces of those we initially fear. For it is in understanding the "other" that we truly understand ourselves, and only then can we unlock the cage that binds our hearts. You're listening to The Tale of DJ Flip. Story: Sphinx Bazel in AfricaStory by: Gail Nobles © 2025Illustration by: Gail NoblesSphinx Bazel traveled extremely fast speed down one of the streams emerged from the aquarium room floor below through a tunnel fighting the seahorse monster. He nearly drowned and alone ended up in Africa. The sea monster had magical powers that caused instant teleportation. Bazel’s body laid on the sand. Some African women stood around him. To them, Bazel was handsome. The eldest of the women gave him CPR. His brain was suffering from lack of oxygen. She tried to restore oxygen flow. The Egyptian nearly drowned. The women feared Bazel as he opened his eyes and came through, and they put him in a large cage to feed him.Bazel woke with a gasp, sand clinging to his eyelashes. He coughed, seawater sputtering out of his lungs. Blinking, he focused on the dark faces peering through the bars of a cage woven from thick vines. Confusion warred with terror. He remembered the aquarium room, the surge of water, the bizarre seahorse monster… and then nothing. Now, he was here, a strange, gawked-at specimen in a foreign land. You're listening to The Tale of DJ Flip. Story by Gail Nobles © 2025.DJ Flip
Story: GATEWAY - RAILWAYSearch Warrant Beneath the SurfaceStory by: Gail Nobles © 2025Sounds by: Pixabay.comDays passed without a word from DJ Flip since he descended into the underground floor. Navy officers approached Amarah regarding her husband, aware that he was likely with an enemy. Their suspicions grew, as they had been monitoring the house and knew about the underground floor. Armed with a search warrant, they proceeded to inspect the premises. Overwhelmed with fear, Amarah allowed them to conduct their search, expressing her concern for her husband's safety and her lack of knowledge about how the floor operated. The Navy officers soon discovered the mechanism: the center of the floor had disconnected from the second level, descending to the third. The aquarium room was located on the second floor, and the method of access was kept concealed. Three streams, resembling water, emerged from the floor below, but the Navy men didn't inquire further since they were in the underground area. These streams were actually fast-moving currents that led through tunnels. They were like railways because the 3rd floor was like a roundhouse. You're listening to the Tale of DJ Flip. Music by: Pixabay.comUsage: Free to useStory and Cover art by: Gail Nobles ©️2024As Bazel and Murdochy the seahorse man stood arguing, DJ Flip’s mind spiraled with thoughts of revenge. He focused on Murdochy, imagining him in pain and helplessness. DJ Flip envisioned a trap, one that would send both the seahorse man and Bazel into the depths of the underworld. With the turn of a knob, he created a mesmerizing illusion, pulling the two enemies into a spiral of sound. DJ Flip: “Let the realms below claim those who covet my life!” DJ Flip said to himself as the music stopped. The floor beneath the feet of him and his wife began to spin violently as they stood on the edge of the floor that didn’t move. The spin created a whirlpool spectrum of light. At that moment, the illusion shimmered, and Murdochy and Bazel vanished.Instead of triumph, Flip felt an emptiness gnaw at his heart. In his pursuit of vengeance, he had lost sight of the love he shared with Amarah. As the music faded, he glanced toward her, only to find her expression clouded with sorrow rather than joy.Amarah: “Jeffrey, what have you done?” she asked, voice trembling. “You sought to rid us of threats, but at what cost? Your heart was once filled with love, not hatred.” DJ Flip felt like he was going to crumble. The reality of his actions was striking him like a bitter tide. As the echoes of his melody turned into whispers of despair, he realized that jealousy had blinded him to the thought of love. It wasn’t just Bazel he had condemned to the underworld; it was part of his own soul. You're listening to the tale of DJ Flip. Story by Gail Nobles © 2024DJ Flip

Amarah’s eyes became large and she asked: Flip, did you hear that noise? Flip: Yea! There’s a vibration coming from the floor. The aquarium room had a movable floor but it didn’t rumble and vibrate or move. Suddenly appeared Murdochy coming through the hole of the floor which was the elevator floor. His form looked like water and a hologram. He had eyes and eyebrows like a wicked genie, and his head was like the head of a seahorse. This time nothing startled DJ Flip. He felt he had gone through the worst dealing with Ghost Boogie which is his foe of the past. He said angrily with his hands on his hip: I’ve got another enemy invading my home. Story: Voice In the Mountains Story by: Gail Nobles ©️2024Art by: Gail NoblesSpinx Bazel kept away from Amarah’s home for a while, after he saw that DJ flip built an underground room, near the river cave to her house. Not only was the house Amara’s home, but it was Flip’s home plus the property. They were living together and married, but Bazel could still spy on Amarah from a distance up high in the rocky mountains. Up high, he could look down and see everything. Sometimes Bazel would go down the mountain to get to the river cave to go for a swim, but it would only put him in grief to see what Flip had built. It wasn't easy to get closer to Amarah anymore. The walls of the underground room blocked his view. It kept Amarah inside and the glass windows were tinted from the outside. In the meantime, Bazel sat high spying and thinking how he had to leave and go back to Egypt with Katrina. He began to hold hatred in his heart for Flip wishing it had been him that Amarah had married. Bazel thought about how to get Flip out of the way so he could have Amarah. Suddenly, Bazel began to hear a small faint voice in the cool breeze.Voice: Noooo brother Bazel.Bazel began to look around. He looked up and saw the clouds moving.Voice: Thou shalt not. In anger Bazel began to speak out loud: I'm going to kill Flip! He took away the woman I love!Voice: You didn’t love her before, and now you covet. And now you want to kill. If you kill, you will be punished.Bazel: Get away from me! I'm going to kill Flip if it's the last thing I do! At that very moment, Bazel looked and saw a dark shadow covering the house of Amarah, and he saw something go down into her swimming pool with a tail of a giant seahorse.Bazel asked: What is that I see? And the voice that spoke to Bazel said: Great evil has come!Bazel: I must go down and see.Voice: Stay away Bazel. Stay away! You're listening to the Tale of DJ Flip. Story by Gail Nobles ©️2024DJ Flip
Story: Aquarium Story by: Gail Nobles ©️2024Cover art by: Gail NoblesEnding music: Pixabay.comAfter DJ Flip and Amarah were happily married, things went smoothly in their lives together. Flip was then able to move in with Amarah to their new home after marrying her, but evil tried to come in. Flip had finally finished getting his underwater tunnel room built from the river cave to where he and Amarah lived. He made an aquarium room. It was like being under the sea with all the fish. Amarah loved the room. There was a movable floor that opened up to a spiral downstairs and another room to walk into. When someone didn’t feel like taking the stairs, there was a special little elevator near the stairs made in the floor to go up and down. The underwater room was a room where only DJ Flip and Amarah spent time together. They spent time together happily. But there was an evil jealousy underground in the water. It was not Sphinx Bazel, but something more jealous than him. The evil was called Murdochy the Seahorse Monster. He appeared as a seahorse man. Murdochy did not like it that DJ Flip built his dream room tunnel underwater. It was finally the big day in the mountains. Domino Storm & Shelly went to the wedding and brought Miss Grady with them. Domino was the best man and Shelly was the maid of honor. Katrina was one of the bridesmaids. Bazel just stood far back in the room silently. As he stood silently at the back of the room, his heart weighed heavy with a mixture of emotions. He was hurting that Amarah was getting married and was full of envy. However, he kept staring at Katrina. She was also beautiful, but not quite as beautiful to him as Amarah. He loved Katrina but loved Amarah more. As he grew up, he realized what he had lost because he had been involved with Amarah before. Bazel didn’t think he could ever get over Amarah. He didn’t think he could bear to watch Amarah get married. He stayed distant from the world around him at the wedding in the shadows at the grand wedding hall. A big crowd was there which was all of the friends that Amarah and Flip had made living in the mountains. The ceremony began. Bazel saw the bride Amarah and how beautiful she was. He yearned to be with Amarah watching every step she took down the aisle. It tore at his soul to see her walk down the aisle to another man. He watched the couple exchange their vows, and exchange rings. Bazel could not bear to watch anymore and he left out of the room right before the bridegroom kissed the bride. Story: Amarah Warns BazelStory and Art by: Gail Nobles ©️ 2024River sound: Pixabay.comFlip was learning things from the good book and Amarah knew his innerman was good. She loved Flip and accepted the fact that he did not trust Bazel. Amarah did not want Flip to loose the trust he had in her, and she tried to keep away from Bazel, but Bazel kept trying to see her. She saw that Bazel still wanted her for himself and knew that there could be big trouble. Amarah knew both men. Bazel had a woman of his own but Amarah knew that didn’t matter to him. And it did not matter to her fiancé that Bazel had his own woman. DJ Flip did not trust him at all. Amarah hoped that if Bazel was allowed to come to the wedding, he would go on about his business with Katrina. All the waters in the ocean, seas, and rivers could not drown the love that Bazel had for Amarah. But she was about to be another man’s wife, and Bazel’s heart did covet. All of the water that he went through in the wide river could not stop Bazel for visiting Amarah and spying on her and her property. Bazel and Katrina came to America a few days before Flip and Amarah’s wedding. That’s when he had learned that something was being built underwater to Amarah’s land. He was spying and snooping around again near Amarah’s property. Amarah glimpsed Bazel ducking back down into the water from a distance. She had been peeping out her back window and she knew that she saw him. Amarah decided she would head down to the river cave to meet up with Bazel. When Amarah got there, she met Bazel. She said to him: Flip thinks you’re spying on our property Bazel. He said that he has seen you. I’ve seen you today near the property. What do you want? I never want to see you near our property again without permission. Is that understood? Bazel: I thought it was just your …. Well I’m not spying & I don’t bother nobody, Amarah. I just go swiming. When I get near your place, I turn around. Amarah: If you want to visit this river cave and swim, that’s fine. But don’t come near my property looking as if you’re spying because if Flip sees you, they’ll be trouble. Big trouble. I’m about to marry that man, and I want you and Katrina to come to the wedding. Flip doesn’t mind that. Just don’t make trouble. Besides, I got a call from Katrina wanting to know if I have seen you. I told her I hadn’t seen you. I think you better call her. Bazel began to look sad. He knew in his heart that he was doing wrong to Katrina wanting to be with Amarah, and he was getting nowhere.Amarah then said: Go Bazel! Be with her. That girl loves you. You have a blessing in your castle with you.” Then Amarah left Bazel and went back home. There are many other stories of Amarah by the river cave not told. He noticed how sad she was about their conversation on Sphinx Bazel. Amarah was just sitting around to herself at her home. She was on a long break from the music business. DJ Flip didn’t like Amarah spending too much time alone. He tried to make up with her and told Amarah to send Bazel and Katrina an invitation to the wedding. DJ Flip knew that Amarah loved the water and he knew that she loved motorcycles. For an early Christmas gift, he bought Amarah a motorcycle. But it was no ordinary motorcycle. It was a special motocycle made for the highway and water. DJ Flip had bought her a custom made Ski-Cycle.Amarah loved her gift but she also had a funny feeling about it. Little did she know that the ski-cycle came with a laptop computer. It told Flip everywhere the ski-cycle was going, where and when it took off, and when and where it stopped. She didn't feel that he had been cheating, but felt that he had been doing something that was not good. Katrina felt that he had been keeping secrets from her. She didn't know who to turn to about the matter. So Katrina called Bazel’s friends over in Egypt to get him out of jail. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail. Bazel’s friends promised Katrina that they would come to America to get him out. In the meantime, Amarah called Katrina. She knew she was alone and didn't know what to do. She had had seen Bazel on the news. Like Katrina, Amarah was upset because she felt like her fiancé had something to do with Bazel being locked up p. She called Katrina to see if she was OK. Katrina: No., I'm not OK because Bazel was somewhere he shouldn't have been. Now he's locked up in jail. Amarah: I know. I saw him on the news. Katrina: I called his friends to get him out. That’s the best that I could do for him. Amarah: Are they coming? Katrina: They said that they would be here.Amarah: Is there anything that I can do? Katrina: No. I'll be all right. Don’t worry about me. When Amarah was finished talking to Katrina, she hung up the phone feeling sad. She felt a little relieved that Katrina had called Bazel’s friends to get him out of jail. She knew that he would be late coming. Amarah decided to walk further into the words to the river cave. She peeped inside, and there was a bridge built inside to walk across. Amarah looked down into the water, and that's when she suddenly saw Sphinx Bazel pop-up out of the water. He startled her. At first, she did not recognize him. Amarah hurriedly ran across the bridge to go back in the direction that she came from, but the sound of Bazel’s voice made her stop in her tracks.Sphinx: Anarah! Wait! It’s me, Bazel!Amarah slowed down from running and turned around to look at him. Amarah: Bazel! You scared the living daylights out of me! Sphinx: Im sorry, Amarah. I didn’t mean it.Amarah: What are you doing out here?Sphinx: Well, I was trying to find where you lived. You invited me to your wedding, and I have seen your address, and I ….But Bazel had been spying on Amarah long before her address & Amarah felt like he had been spying on her all the while. She had a “ what are you up to” look on her face. Sphinx: It’s near by! I just thought I’d take a little swim.Amarah: Hmm! hm! You don’t need to come to my house now. But I do live near here. You just follow the river in the direction I’m heading. In the mean time, stay away. Flip doesn’t want you at the house. You don’t need to visit now. Wait until the wedding, and don’t spoil your chance.Amarah didn't waste time walking away from the river cave. She went back to her house. That’s when the retired Navy men showed up to capture Sphink Bazel. Bazel saw them before they saw him. He could see them passing by the cave from a distance. They were cruising along in a small cruise ship. Bazel ducked his head down into the water. He secretly aboarded the ship and disguised himself in a coat and Navy hat that was on the ship. Spinx Bazel was angry with the Navy men. There were 5 of them on the ship. They were all standing outside on the cruise ship sun deck talking about how they captured Bazel for DJ Flip, and how he had managed to escape. They all had their backs turned from where Bazil was going to sneak out. He sneaked up behind them and began to attack. Bazel took the Navy men by surprise. He stood tall over them swinging his fist and knocking them out.But there was one in the group of the Navy men that was strong and almost as tall is Bazel. He had dreadlocks like Bazel and dressed differently than the rest of the Navy men. His name was Dante. He fought against Bazel, and that gave one of the other Navy men time to drop a net on Bazel. Now, he was captured again. You’re listening to the tale of DJ Flip. Story by Gail Nobles copyright ©️ 2023DJ Flip
