More About the Show: I'm Matt, and if you're interested in understanding the Bible better and you prefer your Christianity quick and punchy with a healthy side of humor, and an equally healthy side of me not telling you what to do, we're probably going to get along great. This is my podcast where we pick a book of the Bible and then break it down one part at a time every weekday morning.

I'm presently 2 years behind on this podcast and it strikes me how relevant Matt's observations are to present events. He always wrestles honestly with the text in front of him, presents both sides to a disagreement, and operates very even handily.
love the long-form chat! this is 10 minutes shy of a Bible Hour
this is excellent
I just found this podcast been listening to a little while and I really like it.
Great podcast. I listen on my commute. Enjoy the deep dive into various books of the Bible.
Here as Haunted Cosmos Podcast recommended.
800+ episodes in and still never been preached at, nor told what to think. a podcast for all ages
I found Matt through his YouTube channel, I absolutely love his work both long and short firm. While I come from a very different denomination to him, I feel there are things that everyone can learn about the Bible from this podcast, even if I wouldn't agree with him on, say, the Trinity.
Found you on YouTube, and I really like your upbeat, educational presentation style. Highly listenable. I don't always share your theology, but I love your historical and textual shows the best.
This is my first podcast with you. #0595 about the time of Jesus' return. You said perhaps we ask the wrong question by wanting to know the hour. It sounds a lot like what I learned about Job. The "why" of the suffering in Job's life is not the right question. Our current situation is never the question. The point is that we don't even need these answers. We need to learn to live faithfully in all circumstances: Let God have soverign knowledge and let us be faithful. When I hear Nigerian Christians tell of their persecution, it feels like they get it.
Keep up the great work Matt. I feel like I've learnt so much from this over the last 11 months, but 1 thing just really hit home. Context! you're talking about people who have a vested interest in creating tensions and trying to not let it get to us, and I've been doom scrolling the Ukraine invasion. My first thought was what do you mean?! This is exactly when we should be antsy, but then realising when this was recorded, and what was going on brought out a completely different reaction. Context! Even a few months makes a huge difference. That's why this podcast is great. You give us your take on the context as honestly as you can. Thank you!
If your looking for an excellent short Bible study this is the one you want!!
Matt, we're in a fight. Linkin Park rock. You can find a tune for every mood (as long as it's a blue mood). Even in their more pop-style / soft rock songs there's so much emotion. Just go listen to "One More Light" or "Leave Out All the Rest". One's a plea to help that 1 lost sheep and the other is a plea for forgiveness at the end. Other than this one statement, I've really enjoyed the show so far. Started this in April 2020 and loving how it gets me thinking about the book. Context is everything! Fight over (unless you want to justify it further).
Every time he mentioned coup factory, I just imagined a Highland cow factory..... just how he said coup I guess.
your parents are great
I hope that he goes back and records the stories of WWII his neighbor told him.
Really good bible study while keeping a down to earth sense of humor and curiosity. He addresses all types of difficult challenges to the bible too
wow, this sermon was amazing!!!
oh man the rendition of cats in the cradle at the end hits a soft spot for me. that song has always been so meaningful to me as a son and now as a father.
