BREAKING NEWS: This afternoon, staff at UW-Platteville’s Baraboo Sauk County campus received an email informing them that the campus will “cease operations” this coming May. Todd has been following these two-year campus closures for nearly three years now, and precious few UW-System staff or elected officials will even acknowledge that it is happening. The typical partisan blame game has been replaced with bipartisan silence when it comes to this issue. We speak with former Republican State Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz, who has always been a big advocate for government transparency. He is equally appalled by this slow and silent culling of schools. The Board of Regents, the Governor, and the Joint Finance Committee owe it to the people of Wisconsin to explain what’s going on.  In other disturbing Wisconsin education news, Cap Times reported a few days ago that over 200 teacher sexual misconduct investigations have been hidden from the public. Allegedly, many accused individuals abused a loophole in our state’s rules that allows them to surrender their teaching license in exchange for keeping the incident confidential. While the alleged offenders may not be teachers anymore, they can still work with children in other capacities. State Superintendent Jill Underly has declined to comment on the matter. This is a serious situation that demands attention. The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Yesterday, Todd broadcast live from the Marcus Majestic Cinema in Waukesha for the world premiere of No Packers, No Life, a film about the Japanese Packers Cheering Team finding their way to Lambeau. Today, director Craig Benzine joins us again to talk about his experience sharing this story with everybody. Todd and Aaron had the opportunity to see it Wednesday night, and it’s a fantastic celebration of Wisconsin culture and how it unexpectedly caught hold on the other side of the world. Head over to marcustheatres.com to see where you can watch it near you!  This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: having the sun in your eyes while driving or driving in the fog? We take some calls and texts on which is more inconvenient or dangerous.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. This afternoon, Todd joins us from the WXCO open house up in Wausau! The station’s General Manager Chad Holmes hops on the show to share some of the great things going on at Bull Falls Radio and around Wausau.   At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Political Editor and Founder of The Recombobulation Area Dan Shafer returns to make sense of the day’s news. After sharing their thoughts on how the Brewers might bounce back against the Dodgers, Todd and Dan look at new races that are opening up as elected officials leave their posts to run for governor. This afternoon, Todd continues his show from the VIP world premiere of No Packers, No Life at the Marcus Majestic Cinema in Waukesha. Director Craig Benzine and Producer Sean Hanish stick around, and we are also joined by Mark Kass, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame and Senior Vice President of TEAM LAMMI. Mark was instrumental in promoting and distributing Just A Bit Outside, and he’s thrilled to play a part in bringing us this film as well.  This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: Soldier Field or Gary, Indiana?  At the bottom of the hour, Producer Ty Morse brings Ken and Ray, the oldest and youngest members of the Japanese Packers cheer team, respectively.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Today is a big day for Packers fans! Last year, we were excited to share Just A Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers with the world, and now producers Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery are back with another fantastic Wisconsin sports film. This afternoon, Todd joins us live from the Marcus Majestic Cinema for the VIP world premiere of No Packers, No Life. Directed by Craig Benzine and produced by Ty Morse, this movie shows us how the love of the game can bring people together from all around the world. It highlights the Japanese Packers cheering team, an avid group of Packers fans that meet up– even in the off-season– to watch Packers games in a Tokyo karaoke bar. After Ty Morse stumbled upon this group, he and his friends worked to get the team to the US to see a Packers game, and he couldn’t be more excited to share the story.  First off, we talk about Wisconsin sports love with Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project, our usual Wednesday guests. Also joining us are producers Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery At the bottom of the hour, we welcome Craig Benzine, the director of No Packers, No Life. He’s an established YouTuber who worked with Ty to piece together the film. He walks us through the journey from idea to completion and how he met Sean and Paul to get the movie into theatres. Tomorrow on Wednesday, October 15th, at the Marcus Majestic Cinema in Waukesha, Todd will be covering the VIP world premiere of No Packers, No Life. The latest project from producers Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery of Just A Bit Outside, this feelgood film documents an unexpected pocket of Packers fans on the other side of the world. Producer Ty Morse returns with the youngest member of the Japanese Packers Cheering Team, Ray Kubota! You can meet Ty and Ray if you join us at the premiere! Head to nopackersnolife.com to learn more.  This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: a dinner roll or no dinner roll? We take some calls and texts on how many carbs you can handle.  We wrap up today’s show with a review of last night’s Brewers game and some excitement for tonight. They may have lost, but they’re looking great against the Dodgers, so they stand a real chance.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. After a preview of today’s show, Todd dives back into a story we touched on yesterday: the latest Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage release. While the Trump administration is using this event to gloat, former President Biden responded on his Twitter/X account with the grace and respect traditionally associated with the office.  In yet another underreported major national news story, news outlets across the political spectrum are declining to sign the Trump administration’s newest press agreement. The document essentially forbids journalists from asking questions or reporting on anything not explicitly permitted by the Pentagon. We’re not lawyers, but this seems like a pretty clear violation of the first amendment. Even conservative pro-Trump outlets like Fox News and Newsmax are opting out.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. The latest project from producers Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery of Just A Bit Outside, this feelgood film documents an unexpected pocket of Packers fans on the other side of the world. Producer Sean Hanish joins us once again to give away one last set of tickets to the premiere! Head over to nopackersnolife.com to get tickets to the premiere or to see the movie this weekend in other select Marcus Theaters.  As we hit prime cold and flu season, Todd asks us What’s Worse: in-person doctor visits or telemedicine? We take your texts and calls on which one is more difficult to deal with.  Towards the end of the show, Todd catches us up on some of the consequences of the current federal government shutdown. In many parts of the country, active duty military servicepeople are lining up in droves outside of food pantries. The Brewers triumphed over the Cubs this weekend, and now they move on to face the Dodgers. Being a large market team, the Dodgers budget dwarfs that of the Brewers, leaving us with a battle that our own Dan Shafer has coined “Glitz vs. Schlitz.”  Todd also touches on the international news of the day as Hamas releases the last hostages they held in their war with Israel. Regardless of how this agreement was reached, we are happy that families have been reunited.  At the bottom of the hour, our colleague and friend Jane Matenaer joins us for another Monday with Matenaer! She and Todd talk Brewers before taking on a much weightier topic: the ways the MAGA movement are trying to rewrite American history. From Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day to shifting education standards, there is a concerted effort to erase all negativity from our past and prevent citizens from questioning the government.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Once again, we give away a pair of tickets, and this time, we are joined by Ty Morse, the film’s producer!  Today marks Homecoming weekend for UW Madison, so Todd asks us What’s Worse: losing to Iowa or losing to Minnesota? We take some calls and texts on which football blowout is more embarrassing.  At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Sports Reporter Mike Clemens calls in from Lambeau for another update on all things sports.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Today, our show is jam-packed with sports news, so Todd takes some time at the top to address politics. As we’ve covered in recent weeks, ICE and the National Guard are being deployed in Democratic cities across the nation. On Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker brought some levity to a dangerous situation.  In yet another underreported national news story, Sec. Hegseth announced in a press conference that Qatar will have a military base on US soil in the near future. Todd expresses bewilderment at this potential breach of security.  At the bottom of the hour, we’re honored to welcome the PA voice of the Badgers: Mike Mahnke! Between military service, broadcasting, and even comedy, he has a wealth of stories to share. He talks about how he found his unique personality behind the microphone as a fan of Badgers sports.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. BREAKING NEWS: According to WISN and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a Milwaukee man is dead after exchanging gunfire with an off-duty police officer following a minor car collision. Details are still emerging about exactly what happened, and Civic Media News will stay on top of the situation.  After we return to the normal show, Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project joins us for a surprise in-studio appearance as his oldest daughter tours UW-Madison! He and Todd reflect on Wisconsin sports before addressing one of many elephants in the room: Marjorie Taylor-Greene has been saying things that make sense.  Does your computer run Windows 10? If so, you might soon find yourself in hot water. At the bottom of the hour, Julius Shieh of the Right To Repair Campaign at Wisconsin Public Interest Research Group (WISPIRG) joins us to explain why this is far bigger than most software discontinuations. Approximately 440 million computers will either face security issues or become e-waste when Microsoft’s support ends in less than a week. The worst part? The company plans to continue creating these safety updates, but will only release them as part of a paid subscription. WISPIRG is petitioning this decision.  Saturday, October 18th is International Repair Day, so WISPIRG is hosting a Fix-a-thon at the Madison Central Library. Bring your old laptops to fix or recycle. With a 2-0 lead, the Brewers have an opportunity tonight to defeat the Cubs in the NLDS. We kick off our second hour with our own Brewers pregame show.  This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: burial or cremation? It may be macabre, but we are approaching Halloween, after all. We take a few calls and texts with lighthearted takes.   At the bottom of the hour, we’re excited to welcome Lar Kong Xiong, Board President of the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association. He walks us through his family background and how the Wisconsin Hmong community has grown since they were displaced here 49 years ago.  This weekend, the association is hosting their Eau Claire Hmong New Year celebration at the Sonnentag event center. This is a huge event that drew approximately 4,000 attendees last year. Lar tells us all about the fantastic food, music, art, and more that will take place on both Saturday and Sunday. It’s Wednesday, so we meet up once again with Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project. Here in Wisconsin, AI data centers have been a controversial topic. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Microsoft is electing not to build a new AI data center in Caledonia after civilian protests. Our trio walk through the pros and cons of building these centers.  Zooming out to the rest of the Midwest, President Trump is calling for prominent Illinois Democrats to be jailed for expressing opposing views. As frequent listeners know, Trygve has a lot of experience fighting authoritarianism in Eastern Europe. He shares his unique perspective on this administration’s dangerous actions.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Today is National Taco Day, so Todd asks us What’s Worse: hard shell tacos or soft shell tacos? We take your calls and texts on which version of the messy hand food bothers you more.  At the bottom of the hour, Todd takes a moment to recognize that today marks two years since the deadly Hamas attack in Israel. While the Netanyahu administration’s actions since the attack have been unconscionable, the initial attack was still also a tragedy.  After that conversation, we return back to Wisconsin with some of Dan Bice’s latest work at the Journal Sentinel. As Tom Tiffany’s gubernatorial campaign picks up, his stances on controversial issues have vanished from his website. While archives of his website still exist on the internet addressing his platform on immigration, guns, and other touchy issues, Tiffany’s public persona is shifting towards the center. Todd walks through why this may be dangerous to Democrats.  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin. Last night, the Milwaukee Brewers took game two of the NLDS by storm, pulling ahead in a commanding 2-0 lead against the Chicago Cubs. Todd takes us through the story of the game and sets us up for tomorrow’s rematch in Chicago.  At the bottom of the hour, we’re excited to introduce Brittany Carloni, the new State Government and Politics Reporter over at Wisconsin Watch. A Milwaukee native, Brittany spent some time reporting in other areas of the country before returning home. Today, she’s here to talk about her latest article detailing our state’s struggles to fund housing for homeless veterans. The latest bill to fund this initiative passed out of committee today, but will it make it all the way into law?  The Todd Allbaugh Show is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs live Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm across Wisconsin.
