Hernan Sias Business Bros

Can you use a podcast to build your business? Hernan Sias is my guest today. He is one half of the podcasting team Business Bros and a real estate expert in San Diego. He is using the platform of podcasting to build his personal network while learning from his varied guests. He had to convince his brother to originally be a part of the show but now they are 100% into growing their podcast listener base. “It’s about finding that additional revenue source, because if you’re only dependent on one income stream and that income stream disappears you’re in some deep doo doo.” ~Hernan Sias on why he built his podcast show While Hernan traveled for his real estate business, the main reason I wanted to chat with him on my show was to hear the how’s and why’s he started his podcast show with his brother and to hear what he thinks of the future of the platform. It’s always great spending time with someone that is positive about their future even while going thru the downsides of the Covid19 lockdown. Is it okay to fight like a girl? That would be a compliment if being compared to this week’s guest, Vanessa Demopoulos. Vanessa is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, jiu jitsu fighter, author and exotic dancer. She has her first pro title fight on July 17 and she is excited about the chance to show her skills at LFA 85 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. One of the subjects we discussed is the differences in her training after switching to the Blackhouse Gym in California from Ohio. “One of the things with traveling so often and so much is that you meet really cool people all around the country and all around the world and I love being able to stay in touch with them.” ~Vanessa Demopoulos on how she fills her travel downtime Vanessa was the first professional fighter guest on the show and she was great with sharing her stories and travel experiences. Make sure to check out her upcoming fights and you can watch several of her previous fights on YouTube. It was great meeting and hearing someone being so positive during the lockdown and looking forward to her future. Turning a hobby in to a career? Is it possible to turn a hobby you are passionate about into a paying career is a question I am often asked by friends and listeners. My guest today, Adam Jackson, is on the verge of finding out. Adam’s photography is getting him some recognition he didn’t think possible when he first started his hobby as he traveled the states for his “day job” as a business development manager for environmental systems with a past in engineering. The creative side of his brain is taking some phenomenal landscape and celestial photos. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology you wouldn’t think he would be able to pivot careers into photography but he is learning social media uses for photography and how he can provide value to people that would like to learn and/or appreciate his photography skills. “Thinking, man, I’ve wasted these opportunities across the nation of all the top spots. I have the luxury of traveling and not everyone gets to do that”. ~ Adam Jackson on why he takes his camera with him everywhere he goes now He shares his journey from engineer to owning a guitar business, which started his photography, to being paid as a professional photographer and now teaching others how to explore their photography passions. He gets to travel for his “day job” and take the extra time to see and take pictures of the fantastic scenery around us. Make sure to check out and subscribe to Instagram page to learn more about him and his photos. Mike Robbins Together

Mike Robbins is a public speaker, author, an expert in teamwork and leadership and my guest on today’s podcast. Mike was a suggested guest by my sister who saw him speak a while back in Ojai, California. His career started out as a professional baseball player but then like many athletes he had to pivot his career into a new field after injuries removed him from the game he loved to play. Mike’s background of having to pivot at a young age will prove useful for him and his team as they learn how to be successful operating a public speaking organization during a time when you aren’t allowed to gather or have companies gather for functions. “Somewhere around 25 events either postponed or cancelled and my new book “We’re All In This Together” just came out, so we had a whole book tour and book events that were scheduled and we had to adjust”. ~ Mike Robbins on how COVID19 affected his business His fifth and latest book “We’re All In This Together” was titled many months before the lockdown but it is a perfect title for how we had to revisit our purpose and careers as business travelers. We discuss his thoughts on speaking engagements in the future, whether virtual or with social distancing, as well as how his book can help individuals going thru these unprecedented times. Cake by Courtney owner, Courtney Rich, is my guest today. This isn’t déjà vu. Courtney is my first guest to be a repeat guest on my podcast. She is a self taught, baker extraordinaire who is using the lockdown situation to improve her relationships at home and interact on her social media platforms on a more personal basis. There are so many opportunities to reach customers and fans in different platforms and formats that we should do our best to provide what they want. “the silver lining of a challenge like this (quarantine) is that it kind of puts them to try something new….you see a ton of people trying new hobbies or DIY projects around the house” ~ Courtney Rich Subscribe: You can subscribe to The Travel Wins Podcast on Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, YouTube, iHeart Radio, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Castbox, Overcast, Breaker, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, and Spotify.
