In this episode of The Tribe of Runners Podcast, Liz Myers talks with Bryan Presley to share a story that’s as inspiring as it is powerful. Bryan was training for his first Ultra Race when something completely unexpected happened. He had a major heart attack. This was in May 2024 where he coded twice and had a 5 bypass open hear surgery due to blockages. After suffering from this heart attack while on vacation, Bryan’s life completely changed. Instead of letting it define him, he used it as a turning point. With encouragement from his wife and the drive to take back control of his health, Bryan worked his way back into running. What started as part of his recovery turned into a passion that led him to the world of ultra marathons. After 5 months from his surgery he complete a his first 100 Miler - with also completing some races in between that 5 months. Bryan opens up about the highs and lows of this journey: the lessons of listening to your body, the spiritual and emotional depth that comes from crossing a finish line, and the incredible strength found in the ultra running community. He believes that anyone, with enough commitment and self-belief, can push their limits. We also talk about his future racing goals, including the Southern States 200, and what motivates him to keep going. His story is a reminder that resilience, community, and belief in yourself can transform your life in unimaginable ways.Whether you’re training for your first race, recovering from a setback, or just need proof that it’s never too late to start, Bryan’s journey will encourage you to keep pushing forward.Thank you so much Bryan for sharing your story and being on the Podcast!Find my Personal IG: @itslizmyersPodcast IG: @tribeofrunnersFor EASY ACCESS to all the Link HERE  https://linktr.ee/itslizmyersIf you have questions about coaching, Email: thetribeofrunnerspodcast@gmail.comInterest in joining the Everyday Ultra Racing Team: https://www.theeverydayultra.com/Check out FolkLord Apparel and get 10% off when your use the code TRIBE on your purchase!Use this LINK and receive 15% off your Tailwind products (discount is applied to the link)!Check out PlayOn Relief: @playonrelief and use code: lizmyers for 20% off your order!!

In this episode of the Tribe of Runners podcast, Liz Myers (thats me) opens up about one of the hardest moments in my running journey. DNF'ing for the first time in H9: The Dragon’s Spine. After the months of focused training and race-day excitement to the unexpected ankle injury that forced me to stop, I shares the raw emotions and difficult decisions that came with stepping off the course. I reflect on the lessons learned about listening to your body, balancing ego with long-term health, and finding strength in the support of friends and family. Remember that a DNF doesn’t define you. It’s just one chapter in a much bigger running story. And.. .it is not what has happened to you that matters. It is what you do with what happened to you that makes. Make it count!
