https://www.alexover.com/podcast linktr.ee/alexover Hey all, Just a quick one as we come to a close in 2022. I wanted to have a mini chat on some reflection and subtle progress, which, to me, is what most of us need or like to do at this time of the year, not just because it's the new year around the corner but almost like a check-in point, which I tend to do throughout the year. On a personal level, the subtle elements are what I spoke about in an earlier episode this year. It's a robust thought process instead of throwing everything in at the end of the year is tricky and unrealistic for most. I chatted about the two single music campaigns and what has been happening. Trial and error, but overall happy with what has happened. There are also some areas I've been learning within my Psychology studies. It's been such a broad and pleasurable element of learning; also, I'm combining alongside my degree my counselling training (exciting). Some mini-life reflections along with mega Business challenges and the quote 'Creativity as an Element of the Good Life' from the excellent Carl Roger's book 'Becoming a Person' Chapter 9 'A Therapists View of the Good Life: The Full Functioning Person.'  I hope this short clip makes you think over the coming weeks about your situation and what you're thinking about in terms of reflection and some subtle progress. Lastly, I've just looked at the podcast stats from this year. Even though it's been a slower year in terms of content for me, it's still had some excellent interaction, which I'm super happy to hear and see. Key stats are below.  The U-Turn Podcast 2022. -      73% more content than the average for the education sector. -      5 Episodes. -      79 mins worth. -      Top Country = UK. -      250% uplift in streams. Thanks all for checking in and listening All I can say is bring on 2023, and I promise there is so much juiciness to follow! Al x
Hey guys, So good to be back and to share more on this latest release, Dreaming.  Like As They Fade, I just had a little chit-chat into the background of this particular release, what's been learnt so far, plus the importance of this learning as an independent artist and more. What's exciting and coming up next is the Lyric videos for both. You can follow and keep up to date via the Linktree link below. One-click to all the helpful stuff currently happening. https://linktr.ee/alexover Next up is 2023. The plans have started, and the backlog of releases, podcasts, blogs and more to follow. See you for E3 soon!  Al x
Hey guys, As we enter into this next phase for the show we are excited to share the new single "As They Fade' which was released on 28th July 2022.  Firstly before diving into this I wanted to personally give it a month to let the release breath and provide a mini insight into it's background, and also it's current performance through Spotify and also other pillars I've been working towards.  This is the first of a few vocal tracks to come out and each release I will be speaking a little more on their backgrounds to give you an idea on what's been going on. Here's the link for your choice of listening platform > https://linktr.ee/alexover  See you next for E2! :) Al x
Hey! So here we are, the first months worth of Podcast listening. If you have listened to each one, thank you! It's like I've described as a building block and will take some time to put all of this together.  In the meantime I do hope it's been of an interest so far and looking forward to continuing this, a couple of weeks off the show to go back and reflect to see what the next items to add will be. Enjoy this one as I go into more about an experience I did with a short course on Film Music through NFTS [National Film and Television School] it was an excellent three days and fitted today's subject so nicely. Alex Over is a Music Composer at heart, aspiring Psychologist in mind, a joint Business owner by adoption, an active Tennis Player by far, and a fanatic reviewer for the City of London. Alex will be correlating these aspects within his new Blog and ongoing Podcast, The U-Turn Podcast, which will feature insights into how these aspects have moulded him into the person he is today. He will be sharing his thoughts through the perspective of his everyday life experiences in Music Production, Psychology Studies, Business Challenges, playing Tennis and leaving reviews in exciting locations in London that have inspired him to look further than ever. I am following up on this week's blog, where I discuss the importance of the now and that one step ahead thought process. Going to bring an example from a tennis session I had and the importance of being in the now and not making so many mistakes on the next shots; the simple answer I was told are you thinking about where the next shot is going? I said, no, not really intentionally; I'm in the now, and this was the fundamental mistake, not because being in the now is incorrect but the one step ahead, which I lacked. It's the two steps forward, one step back concept. It made me feel a lot better, and I made these adjustments and tested myself this week with other areas of my life to see where else I could be making a mistake; try it for yourself. Simple stuff but isn't it always usually down to this? Like each week, I'll be featuring one of my tracks, and this week brings to you a track called 'Airing', which was one of the first tracks of the new portfolio work I started a few years back. www.alexover.com/music Welcome to the new series of the U-Turn Podcast. [Season 2, Episode 1] It does feel great to be back behind the microphone and speaking again via this platform. The purpose of today's show is purely an introduction to provide a sample of what's to come, and all I ask is to bear with me while I put this new concept together; the ideas and format are there it's just a new approach and to what I'm looking to achieve from this. The previous season was interview-based and started just before the pandemic and was tricky for what I was looking to achieve, so a needed re visit, and here we are. I love doing the podcast, and I'll be talking about Music Composition, Psychology Studies, Business and everything in between. The best place to follow my movements will be Instagram and my website. See you on Episode two, which will be a follow up from Monday's Blog around the importance of Business, who to stay clear of and who to keep near you. P.S Track Feature. www.alexover.com/podcast  Following from yesterday's Part 1, here's Part 2 with Niaby Codd.  If you missed yesterday's show.  Would advise going back, and check it out + full description and links within this too. I want to say a big thank to my guests. As explained in previous I'm putting the show aside for the time being, with that in mind a more robust and more direct approach for Season 3, when will that be? Not sure but it will happen either way. And lastly, thanks again guys, I can see the number of people who listen to this show, especially the guys in the States, UK and certain parts of Asia. Makes me super happy and more pumped to come back with a bang. Stay safe, and see you again soon! www.alexover.com/podcast Hey guys, I've decided that after this two-part interview, I'm going to hold fire. A couple of reasons, firstly, the objective was to do face to face interviews, but of course, due to the current situation, I have decided to hold tight; this is just purely down to personal preference and what feels right for this particular show. Still, on a positive note, I've promised myself and to you the regular listeners that when the show comes back, it really will be more than it has ever been, I'm going to invest some quality time in the background to think about the next step up for it. Once the time is right, you will see and hear from me again. It also allows me to continually focus more on my Music Productions and Psychology degree, which at this moment in time is creating a lot more momentum. On another note, let me introduce you to my final guest Niaby Codd for this series (short and sweet series). A lot to take from this, a different spin entirely, even though it's not to do with just Music, there is still so much relevance around that subject, and certainly something for everyone. Based in Ibiza, you will get some insights and another side to the island, and overall, I found it fascinating. Niaby is an ex stockbroker who saw the light in the darkest hour of poor health and recognised her soul's call to walk a different path. That path has led her to be of service to spirit as she gently brings through words of wisdom from a higher source. Niaby is a healer, a spiritual medium and an inspirational speaker. She hopes to inspire people to find the power to heal themselves, so in turn, they too can inspire others to do the same. Niaby is the author of the channelled book 'The spirit of Life' and is also the host of 'The Spirit of Life in Ibiza' podcast. Niaby hopes to gently inspire consciousness in others, not by telling them how to think but rather by provoking thoughts in people that may not have previously provoked then allowing the seed of consciousness to grow. See you for Part 2 tomorrow! P.S – All socials + Niaby's website and book links below. Hey guys,   Welcome to Part 2 of The U-Turn Podcast's Interview with Bradley Gunn Raver.   So as you heard/read from Part 1, without repeating myself we covered quite a bit. Now it's time, for the even more interesting part, where we talk about the Music industry and Bradley's personal experiences, through to mindsets and the people within it.   Let's get straight in!   Al x P.S Other links below, also. ********************************************************************************************** Bradley's Social Links... https://www.facebook.com/bradleygunnsailor/ https://www.instagram.com/bradleygunnsailor/?hl=en https://twitter.com/bradgunnraver?lang=en ********************************************************************************************** Alex Over Links... https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/alexover https://www.alexover.com/music https://twitter.com/_AlexOver_ https://www.instagram.com/thealexover/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexeover/ https://www.perpetualcollective.com/ https://theperpetualcollective.bandcamp.com/
It was an absolute pleasure to have today’s guest on The U-Turn Podcast. We had a lot to cover so the interview has been split into two episodes. Incredibly we went from discussions around raving to open banking. For those who don’t know Bradley, first and foremost he is known for his iconic rave goggles, leggings, self-branded t-shirt, and for promoting his mantra “Love Life and Rave”. It’s also important to note that he only ever raves sober.    In 2015, people started to notice his dance moves and unique attire in clubs around his hometown city of Bristol and began to share videos of him on social media resulting in him becoming an internet sensation. He went on to undergo 38 hours of none-stop back-to-back raves.   Since then, he has starred in BBC Three's Amazing Humans, was named Mixmag’s Raver of the Year 2017, has had rave reviews published on the Ministry of Sound’s website, undertook a keynote interview at the International Music Summit 2018 and has collaborated with respected DJs in dance videos including Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers, Nicole Moudaber, Pan-Pot, Peggy Gou, Joris Voorn, Maceo Plex, and Jamie Jones.   In the podcast, we discuss the subject of Mental Health in-depth and what it means for Bradley as he often speaks about the mental health benefits of raving, and offers support to anyone in their musical journey hitting struggles. Bradley lives with Asperger’s Syndrome and through raving, he is determined to spread a message of positivity and happiness. He also illustrates that the stigma of diagnosis shouldn’t restrict aims in life. Clubbing helps Bradley overcome his feelings of self-consciousness and struggles in social environments.   I would love to invite Bradley back on the podcast at some point when we are through this particular stage with the virus, so we can discuss mental health and the effects of what is currently happening in more detail.   *Please be aware this was prior to the current situation*   Part 2 of this to follow!   Al x   P.S...  Spotify link (Audio) - https://open.spotify.com/show/2tUo84qAzotpm85tLYHsO6 All other streaming choices via - https://www.alexover.com/podcast   ********************************************************************************************** Bradley's Social Links...   https://www.facebook.com/bradleygunnsailor/  https://www.instagram.com/bradleygunnsailor/?hl=en  https://twitter.com/bradgunnraver?lang=en   ********************************************************************************************** Alex Over Links...   https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/alexover  https://www.alexover.com/music  https://twitter.com/_AlexOver_  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzCIOX3hEEIVoQe3H0pRtnQ/featured?disable_polymer=1  https://www.instagram.com/thealexover/  https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexeover/  https://www.perpetualcollective.com/  https://theperpetualcollective.bandcamp.com/

Thanks for checking in on 'Part 1' of this new series, where I interview various people within the Music Industry. Seeing as it's my birthday today :D and it being the last day of #mentalhealthawarenessweek - but it doesn't stop there of course. Apologies in advance as Part 1 was filmed and featured on the Youtube page, but sadly the camera died on us, but never the less, here's the Audio version for Part 2! I have to say I very much enjoyed this session with Ian. We talked for nearly two hours and had to break the interview into two separate parts. The discussion was in-depth but could have gone on for a lot longer. There's honestly a lot to cover. After knowing Ian for some time, I felt engaged from the very first conversation we had. Without going into too many details, I appreciate the efforts he puts into articulating what 'Mental Health' actually means and we jumped deep into the subject. Still and foremost, the drive is to help individuals whether they be within the Music Industry or not. The lesson learnt here is that we must understand and pinpoint specific differences and the challenges around this subject. I'll leave it for Ian to explain further in the interview. Part 2 to follow! See ya! ********************************************************************** P.S Guest Socials... www.alexover.com/podcast 1 YEAR ON :) #theuturnpodcast Just started as an idea but didn't think it is something I would keep doing if I'm honest... but yeah it's been enjoyable so far doing this. It leads well into the 1st year of the Psychology studies too. Opened up a lot of subjects, going a lot deeper into this and trying to relate it to my own life, impacts and relevance I guess and what has been happening but more importantly for you also to think how it could relate to you in your context :) Over the next few months, I'm currently working on other projects which gives me an excellent opportunity to think more about how to approach 'Season 2' for this. So today's subject is about 'Progress' and, thought what a great way to finish 'Season 1' on the train, making notes, what it means to me but also all the subjects discussed and an opportunity to think in more detail about what this means overall. I'll leave you to think on this one, hope you like it and also remember to check out the other episodes too! See ya again soon! Alexx
https://www.alexover.com/podcast Hey everyone :) Apologies it's been a little delayed this month. As I have now completed the first stage of my Psychology studies (YES!!!) = (30 weeks) in fact and just a quick time to reflect, which I feel this is so important for all of us to do. One thing, I've learnt a lot about myself - is how little I know about a lot of stuff (kind of feels odd) to say, considering I do this podcast on particular subjects. But the reason for these subjects, of course, is being curious to learn more about myself in so many ways. The course has certainly put me in the right direction moving forward! Okay so back to today's subject and this follows both the #thewednesdaylunchtimeblog (https://www.alexover.com/blog) & #alexoversessions (https://www.alexover.com/sessions) A few weeks back. It's all about 'Preconceived ideas' and in a nutshell. All been guilty at some point in our lives, maybe you are currently in that situation a lot, due to perhaps even a lack of understanding what it means. In small terms, if you want me to be it - we all have opinions and viewpoints on something but yet know very little about what our understanding of that subject is. I'll leave you to think about that one and on that note, enjoy the show. See you! Alex
https://www.alexover.com/podcast Ah yes! Today's episode is an extension of the #wednesdaylunchtimeblog - ( https://www.alexover.com/blog/tension ) - I've now collaborated three of these #alexover concept and features together, which will now include #alexoversessions >> ( https://www.alexover.com/sessions ) Every Wednesday to date, starting with the morning will be #theuturnpodcast of what's to come and including some in-depth details of why I am talking about a particular subject. The lunchtime blog will have have a short follow up and lastly we will have a slightly different spin too as the #alexoversessions videos will be something to finish it off - Excited and can't wait to get going with it! Back to today's subject(s), this one got me thinking today. I was all over the place and noticed how out of sync I was due to my planning going out the window. Not on purpose just a lot of things happening at once, in fact quite positive reasons which I haven't been so used to as of late but the vital point here is understanding why?! And, took me a few days to honestly think deeply about it. Tension is all around us, and we all face it regularly, and it really can be tough, there are no two ways about it + some conflict along the way also doesn't help either. So I'll leave you to decide on how this affects you and to honestly really think deeply about it. I've found it's right in front of me and for that reason, I wanted to share my own experience with you on this. See you at the next one!
www.alexover.com/podcast Hey everyone! Thank you for your patience on waiting for this next episode. Firstly before I dive in, I've used some of my study work based on today's subject around 'Conformity' - which I'll post some reference links below also for you to check out with it! I have even touched base on a little bit of my own experience away from this, which is something I always like to do. The three case studies carried out by Dr Phillip Zimbardo on 'The Stanford Prison Experiment' + Soloman Asch's 'Conformity Experiments' and lastly 'Robbers Cave' by Psychologists Muzafer and Carolyn Sherif. (not sure about Zimbardo's one, as I particularly feel they are so sufficient to today) As stated in the audio, these were particular ones given to me to work more / research on. What I found interesting to these is my thought process on what Conformity mainly meant and also my viewpoints on how Complex this is but also 'How' complex we do make things. The significant part about all of this is learning more about Human Behaviours which I love looking more into, of course. As a viewpoint - it's making me come to the point on how I feel that, if we truly know who we are then conforming can be a choice, which is up for debate but an interesting one. I'll leave you to listen to the rest. See you! References... https://psmag.com/social-justice/philip-zimbardo-revisits-the-stanford-prison-experiment https://www.simplypsychology.org/asch-conformity.html https://www.age-of-the-sage.org/psychology/social/sherif_robbers_cave_experiment.html
www.alexover.com/podcast A significant milestone is hitting episode NUMBER 40! Feels great to be at this point with the podcast and this subject today is a gentle reminder to why I do this and hopefully, it's something for you to get your teeth into. Been having deep thoughts about this one and to be honest was tricky to get out, what I was looking for but happy with the result. I feel it's an important subject as well as today's #wednesdaylunchtimeblog around 'Expressing Your Experiences'! https://www.alexover.com/blog/expressing-your-experiences-part-1 Back to this, though, I touch around some essential factors to think a lot. It could be harmful patterns you keep coming back too and therefore create these habits (like me) to unwind and fully understand this even more so. I call that real honest to yourself, to allow how you feel about these patterns and how you could change this? Interesting stuff! See you on the next one. Have fun. See you!
www.alexover.com/podcast  It's great to be able to go deep into specific subjects, and infact it's refreshing. These last two episodes have been a fascinating insight and as always based on experience. This episode got me thinking about the greed behind money and people feeling like they have the power over everyone even though, it takes more than one to make one's work excel, leaving others potentially behind. It's got me thinking lately to why people's behaviour works like this and really what? Insecurity, being better than others or just purely feeling like they deserve it? Interesting. Food for thought... See you on the next one. See you!
A big one today. 'Forgiveness' - Just in terms of what this subject means to you? Let's face it we could go really deep into this and it could mean such an array of things also. Like always I literally go into some of my own experiences and what impacts this has had but not just in a negative way but more so in a positive way and that's the whole point behind 'The U Turn' concept and the message around this, without stating the obvious which sometimes again isn't always 'obvious'. I touch base a little more on this. I've found that forgiving is really about understanding situations fully (or too as much as you can, by the information provided to you, of course) - that's another subject itself when writing this. Sometimes forgiving really is just about being a better version of you because I've noticed that, like most of us we always try and have control of our situations, if not (all) but then again these things can change within a second - so really do we have much control? So a thought process I've had is forgiveness otherwise it's always chasing your tail or trying to be almost like 'right' with your view points only, I guess? It's an interesting thought process which has got me thinking, as a mate of mine said about this subject, literally this morning as I was about to record a different episode but infact this was more relevant. Funny how the universe spins round, energies or whatever you want to view it as. Also before I stay talking forever ha! The NEW updated website is up :D and in the intro of this session, I talk about what this actually means moving forward.  There's a new feature where you can help and support this podcast by donating, which will really help towards the next stages of this podcast series. I'm looking to interview people in the very near future, which is exciting to even think about :) As always I hope this brings something to you?! Makes you think about your own context of your life, never telling how but you choose how to approach it. Have a great rest of your weekend and I'll see you on the next one. See ya! @alexeover www.alexover.com
Feeling hyped and for a few reasons! Before we dive into today's episode - the new 'Wednesday Lunchtime Blog' is now going into it's four week, which I guess is almost a small addition currently to this Podcast series. It's a soft, light hearted post (I like to see / view / read it as your balanced healthy meal of the day) yeah, yeah anyways ha! You can visit this via the website @ >> www.alexover.com << Also to this, was our first 'Meet Up' group session in London. Which focuses currently around 'Mens Mental Health' and the great news is that people turned up (YES) It was a fulfilling and I got really excited by the energy and commitment from the guys as well as the deep honest conversations we all had. Everyone has a great story to tell, which creates  such deep meanings and connection, beats even something like a podcast (I said it) and social media posts, you know the kinda ones which make you look good. You know you just can't beat face to face interaction but you know what I mean ;) Wow - long winded and really didn't mean that... Good reasons though. So.... Back to today's episode on 'Overload' I feel this doesn't really need much of an intro but to just sit back and relax (while I blabber all the way through) But no honestly it's a brill subject to talk about and I hope you gain something from it and have a wee think what it means to you on your end. See you on the next on! See ya! AO
