The average orgasm lasts less than 30 seconds—but we assign a lot of weight to those ephemeral episodes of ecstasy. People tend to have very strong opinions about what orgasms should be like and how and when and with whom we should be having them. But most of these opinions? Well, they’re not based in reality. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)AP SAN JUAN—After a weekend golf trip to his private club in New Jersey and a recurring bout of racist tweets about NFL athletes, Donald Trump finally got around to visiting Puerto Rico this week to throw paper towels at suffering islanders.
They say young people don’t care about cars anymore. They say the culture is dying. They say human driving doesn’t even have a future. The Jalopnik community of readers, knows that isn’t true. You also know the last place to look for modern car culture is the vast wasteland that is television. But we think we can do car TV better—so we did. Because you demanded it, and because questionable decisions are made in the media world every day, Jalopnik is getting a TV show.

Facebook I was sitting in class when my phone started to blow up with incoming messages: “Did you hear what happened to Halla Barakat?” My heart raced. “What happened?” I texted back. The ensuing silence felt like hours. A minute later I got my answer: “She was assassinated… along with her mom in Istanbul.” My heart fell into my stomach. The classroom started to spin. Another Syrian revolution activist murdered. Another stolen life to grieve.
Omar Bustamante/ Fusion Nambia doesn’t get a whole lot of positive press in the mainstream media these days. Sure, there’s the occasional human-interest article…the ghostly photos of the desert encroaching on Nambia’s suburbs… …or the zebra who lost her stripes. But there hasn’t really been any serious reporting on Nambia since The New York Times closed its bureau there in the early 1990s.

(Photo by Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP)Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP Sean Spicer’s unexpected cameo during the 69th annual Emmy Awards should have been an epiphany and a wake-up call for our celebrity-addled country.
Omar Andrews figured he was about to watch history being made in his home state of Maine. Local lawmakers, seeking to do something about the nation’s growing student loans crisis, wanted to crack down on the powerful loan servicing companies.
President Donald Trump pauses while speaking in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House in Washington, Monday, Aug. 14, 2017. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)AP It may look like Trump’s presidency is a failure because he’s been so utterly inept at delivering on most of his policy proposals, but sometimes words are as important as actions. And those words are rebranding America’s image across the world in a meaningful way.

Now she has a team of 10,000 volunteers who hop on planes around the world and go to disaster zones to deliver aid. Her volunteer rapid-response group is called Third Wave Volunteers and deploys to natural and man-made disasters around the globe.
photo illustration by Elena Scotti and Erendira Mancias There’s been a lot of talk in recent weeks about whether Donald Trump will survive four years—or even one year—of his disastrous presidency. The internet and cable news are full of voices speculating about whether Trump is more likely to quit the presidency or get impeached.
photo illustration by Fusion I rubbed my eyes in disbelief and looked again at Donald Trump’s latest tweet. I had read it correctly the first time. It was an unmistakable literary reference to authoritarian rule. Trump’s warning seemed clear: Protest begets repression, and submission leads to strength. from YouTube A high school student’s painting of the Statue of Liberty wearing a hijab is drawing confused criticism from conservative activists who are upset by the image, but can’t seem to agree why. The polemic painting, which hangs in the California office of Democratic Rep. Luis Correa, is a finalist in this year’s Congressional Art Competition, which features artwork by high school students from across the country. Rep.
Alex Izaguirre Venezuela is a disaster. Its democracy is broken and its economy is in ruins. The social fabric is being torn apart, and its national identity is up for grabs. People are going hungry and institutions are going to pot. The country is increasingly isolated and has all but exhausted its supply of medicine, food, money, and friends. Venezuela is so close to the maw of the abyss, it can feel its hot breath. Unfortunately, the situation could still get much worse.
Kent Hernández/ Fusion President Donald Trump this week endorsed an immigration bill that would require foreigners to get health insurance as a prerequisite for a new nonimmigrant visa classification.
