Daniel and I share what we learned together through Season One and what we’re planning for Season Two. Thanks for listening!
The future will come faster than anyone has ever experienced before. It’s incredibly important to remain an aggressive learner and stay curious about everything. The one who will win in this decade of disruption will remain flexible in all ways.
The entire idea of building a workforce is being turned upside down. How we work together, win together, and learn together will continue to adapt. But the one constant that will remain the same is that your people are your secret sauce.
You can't create a culture of learning and not make room for people and teams to fail. Instead, we need to shift our perspective from failure and success to learning. But the obstacles to achieving that shift seem to be deeper than first thought.
Analytics isn't just about documenting what already happened. Rather, it is about empowering every business leader to have access to real-time data so they are equipped to make new decisions as new information is available.
It is uncommon to innovate and have that innovation be profitable from Day One. What we really want is growth without risk. And that is a leadership challenge, not a breakdown in innovation processes.
It's very difficult to stop what's currently in motion. Most leaders are very uncomfortable letting go of even underperforming aspects of their business to make room for new opportunities.
Don’t solve the problem. Solve the source of the problem. Solving the problem—rather than the source—delays the inevitable. This is often hard to do when lagging indicators don’t yet necessitate change.
Right Team, Right Projects, Right Outcomes. Period. If you want to move forward, you need to unleash the genius of your teams and get everyone organized around shared outcomes and a generally accepted preferred future.
Confirmation bias is a thing. And the more successful you are, the more risk is involved in doing something new. But the same courage it took you to rise to your current position is required to lead forward.
Don’t aim for perfection. Focus on learning. If you focus on perfection, you’ll never get started. Too often we kill new initiatives by holding them to the same level of expectations as established lines of business.
The future of business strategy will be built around a culture of learning. It’s too easy to fall back on previous experience. If you really want to lead change, you need to fast, flat, and flexible.
