We've made it to our Third Season, The Wisdom Books of the Bible.In this episode, we studied the Book of Ecclesiastes, the fourth book of the Wisdom Literature Series.  It's believed that this book was written towards the end of Solomon's life as he's reflecting back over his life and his desire is to pass along his wisdom to us. We covered this book in 3 sections:(1:1-11) – Introducing the Issue(1:12-12:8) - Looking at the Meaning of Life(12:9-14) – Importance of Focusing on GodSolomon was the author for most of the book.  He wrote Ecclesiastes to show that material things fade away and the real meaning of life can only be found in things from above.   Everything is Vanity!  Solomon was the wisest person to ever live! he's the WOAT... Wisest Of All Time!The book of Ecclesiastes answers the question, "What's my purpose?"  Our purpose is to Fear God and Enjoy Life!Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. We've made it to our Third Season, The Wisdom Books of the Bible.In this episode, we studied the Book of Proverbs, the middle book of the Wisdom Literature Series.  Since this is such a unique book, we did things a little different.   We covered this book in 3 sections:(1-9) – Father to Son Wisdom(10-29) - Proverbs of Solomon(30-31) – Wisdom from Agur and LemuelSolomon was the author for most of the book.  He wrote these Proverbs to the wise men of Israel as a manual for how to live wisely day-to-day.   Solomon was the wisest person to ever live! he's the WOAT... While studying the Book of Job, we were able to break it up into 4 sections:(1-2) – The Testing, (3-37) – Dialog with Friends, (38-41) – God’s Thoughts, and (42) – Job’s Restoration.The author, the audience, and the time this book was written is unknown but the reason it was written was to show that God's people still suffer and that the righteous will be blessed even greater if they continue in righteousness.We may not get to know why bad things happen but we get to know God.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. We're at the close of  our Second Season, The Historical Books of the Bible. While studying the book of Esther, we uncovered some powerful information.  Esther was broken up into 3 Sections: (1-2) The Rebuild(3-4) The Revival(5-10) Victory of the Jews"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”Esther 4:14Esther was written to show God was still involved with the Jews who remained in exile.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. We're coming to the close of  our Second Season, The Historical Books of the Bible. While studying the book of Nehemiah.  Nehemiah was broken up into 2 Sections: (1-7) The Rebuild and  (8-13) The Revival."After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”Nehemiah 4:14Ezra wrote this book to show the restoration process for the future generations.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. We've made it to our Second Season, The Historical Books of the Bible. While studying both book I and II of Chronicles.  I Chronicles was broken up into 2 Sections: (1-10) Re-establishing History (11-29) Building of the Temple.   II Chronicles was broken up into 2 Sections as well: (1-9) Reign of Solomon and (10-36) History of Judah and the Temple.Ezra wrote this book to restore the Israelite's identity and bring them back to the law of Moses.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. (2) Ruth & Boaz Meet, (3) Ruth's Plan and (4) Boaz and Ruth Marry.The author of Ruth is unknown, but most believe that the likely candidate is the prophet Samuel.  This is a true "Love Story"...Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. We've made it to our Second Season, The Historical Books of the Bible. While studying the Book of Judges, we were able to break it up into 3 sections:(1-2) Continuation, (3-16) Cycle and (17-21) Corruption.The author of Judges is unknown, but most believe that the likely candidate is the prophet Samuel.  Samuel wrote to the Israelites whose ancestors continuously rebelled against God.   The book of Judges was written as a defense for King David and as a record of Israel’s “sin cycles” under their appointed judges. “In those days there was no king in Israel. We've made it to our Second Season, The Historical Books of the Bible. While studying the Book of Joshua, we were able to break it up into 4 sections:(1-5) The Conquest, (6-12) Conflicts w/Canaanites, (13-22) Land Allotments, and (23-24) Farewell of Joshua The audience is the 3rd Generation of Israelites whose parents had conquered the Promised Land and it was written to have an account of how the Israelites conquered the Promised Land, to record the land allotments, and how to show God’s faithfulness to His covenant with them. God's promise to Abraham had come true!  He is faithful to His promises but will let His people walk away and suffer the consequences.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. While studying the Book of Deuteronomy, we were able to break it up into 4 sections:The Review, The Requirements, The Results & The Reward.Deuteronomy is a book that was written to the second Generation of Israelites  whose parents passed away during the 40 years of wandering who were about to  enter into the Promised Land.  It's the Final Book of the Torah.God's promise to Abraham had come true!  He is faithful to His promises but will let His people walk away and suffer the consequences.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. While studying the Book of Numbers, we were able to break it up into 3  sections:The Preparation, The Protest & The Promise.Numbers is a book that was written to the second Generation of Israelites  whose parents passed away during the 40 years of wandering.  It shows what happens when Israel walks away from God's plan and will server as a warning in future books.God is faithful to His promises but will let His people walk away and suffer the consequences.After living in Egypt for so long, many of the Israelites had adopted Egyptian customs and idols, so these Levitical laws were needed to direct them back to God’s law.  In order to live in God’s holy place, the people have to become holy.  Thus, the book of Leviticus.  Despite Israel’s failures, God has provided a way for the Israelites sins to be covered so that He can live with sinful people in peace.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God. While studying the Book of Exodus, we were able to break it up into 2 sections: The Rescue & The Relationship. Exodus is a book of beginnings, believed to have been written by Moses.It tells about the Israelites being delivered from slavery through an Exodus from Egypt, the leadership of Moses and the revelations at the biblical Mount Sinai, and a subsequent "divine indwelling" of God with Israel.Who are we?  We're two life-long friends who share the same Christian values and are both seeking a deeper relationship with God.
