We're kicking off Season 8 with a bang! Miss us? We missed you the past 3 weeks but we're back and better than ever for Season 8 of TWSS! This week, it's the heart of the NWSL season and the kick off to the '25-'26 WSL season, and we're breaking it all down. First up, the NWSL made history with Bay FC's sellout of over 40,000 people. Sara was there and is giving you the inside scoop on what the atmosphere was like. Next, it's our game of the week and it had to be Chicago's 1-1 draw with Washington. Finally, it's onto the WSL. What are key transfers that happened over the off-season, and what are some rumored deals that could get done before the Thursday deadline? And of course, WSL predictions! Who finishes the season on top, who get relegated, and who will be the biggest surprise? It's all here! Episode edited by Mike Adams @monkeyhillmedia. Follow us on socials @thewososhow
Don't worry, we're only taking 3 weeks off before Season 8 kicks off! We'll be back for Season 8 on Wednesday September 3rd, but we had to come back for one more episode after the EUROS to talk all things Copa América Femenina & NWSL back in action! Kicking it off, of course, it's Brazil's win on penalty kicks over Colombia for the second time in a row in the Copa América Femenina Final. What a match! What is different about this Copa América Femenina than previous ones before? Next, it's onto the NWSL including updates on big news items that transpired in the 5 week break. Is it a good idea for the NWSL to break for major tournaments like they did this summer? Finally, Washington Spirit gets Trinity Rodman back and what a way to come back! England are back-to-back European Champions after beating Spain on penalty kicks and have redemption from 2023! It's ALL here! A recap of the tournament highs and lows, plus Sara & Allie are joined by Amy O'Connor as we break down the entire game from start to finish and on both sides of the ball. What were the biggest difference makers? Why should people never doubt the Lioness squad ever again? And why should Spain continue to hold their heads high? What a tournament! Thank you all for tuning in and listening to our coverage - regular weekly episodes continue next week on Wednesdays! Episode edited by Mike Adams @monkeyhillmedia. The final is set and it's a rematch of the 2023 WWC! How did we get here? Sara and Allie dive into both semi-finals, starting off with England vs. Italy. What is with England's new trend of a terrible first 45? Was it actually a pen and is that even worth discussing? And of course, a huge salute to Italy who were absolutely the darlings of this tournament. Next, it's Germany vs. Spain as this was the first time in the history of the Women's Euros that BOTH semi-finals went to Extra Time. Allie & Sara might still not be convinced by Spain... but are they convinced by England either? Finally, we're looking ahead and making our FINALS predictions! It's QUARTERFINALLLSSSS TIME! 4 games and we are left with 4 remaining teams. Penalties dominated, but did any pens really DOMINATE? Sara is joined by Amy O'Connor as a guest host to break down all four games and of course preview both semi-final matchups. How in the world did Germany pull that off and are they too battered to defeat the reigning World Cup champs? Why was England's first half so different than their second, and what did Sarina's note say? (Lol just kidding). Is an untested Spain weaker than we think? And hear Sara make the case for how Italy can beat England! Our next episode covering the Semi-Finals will drop on THURSDAY as usual. Follow us on socials @theWOSOshow.
Ahead of Thursday's Sweden vs. England Quarterfinal, we're giving you the 'Thursday' episode a bit early! This will be an incredible listen before or after the England match, as we sit down with Carrie Dunn - a sports writer - who has covered Women’s World Cups, Women’s Euros as well as domestic competitions over the last two decades, and is a regular voice on BBC radio as well as The Athletic's Women's Football Podcast. We had the pleasure of sitting down with her before the EUROS kicked off to talk about her new book 'Flying the Flag: The Footballing Heroines of the Home Nations Who Made History Abroad'. The book chronicles the pioneering women of British football who sacrificed careers, friends, and familiar surroundings to pursue their sporting dreams abroad. It's a wonderful book about the women whose names we should all know just as well as Lucy Bronze and Leah Williamson, who are true pioneers of the sport we love so much - women's football.
We've got our Quarterfinal picture and matchday three did NOT disappoint! Sara & Allie are here to take you through all groups, teams, and matchups of Matchday 3 plus of course Quarterfinal matchup previews & predictions. Kicking it off with Group A - Finland & Switzerland put on a show and it was a heartbreaker for Finland. Why were these two teams the standouts of the group stages for Sara? Next, it's Group B and the wonderful surprise that was Italy vs. Spain. Can Italy take it to Norway in the next round? Group C brought the chaos... are we convinced by Sweden? Is Germany all but done? Next, it's Group D and all the madness: Netherlands, France, England. Was it better to advance first or second in this group? And of course, this episode concludes with Quarterfinal preview & predictions. Which game are we most excited for and who will advance to the semi's? *Apologies for the few tiny audio issues - they are resolved after the first few min! You may not even notice, but we take pride in our audio and apologize for the small technical difficulties in this one. However, the content is FIRE and we know you'll love this ep!
Sara is back - hurrah! Today, it's aall things Group Stage Game 2, aka Matchday 2. Plus we'll talk through ALL scenarios for matchday three including who is officially into the Quarters already, who is officially eliminated, and what each team needs to advance into the Quarters if they haven't already. First up, it's a breakdown of MD2 and we HAD to start with Group D and the excitement that was England vs. Netherlands & France vs. Wales. Next, it's backwards order onto Group C. What is wrong with Germnay, if anything? Will Sweden advance first? Next, Group B where Spain sit atop the group but is their defense a concern? Finally, it's everyone's favorite Group A, where Norway are catching some heat for celebrating their second win. Is this warrented? Episode edited by Mike Adams @monkeyhillmedia. The EUROS are HERE! A red card, a missed pen, and so much more... Day 1 absolutely delivered. After Day 1 of games during which the host nation came SO very close to upsetting Norway and Iceland gave us nothing, Sara and Allie are here to break it all down. First up, it's the hosts Switzerlands vs. Norway in a game that truly had everything. Norway got the win, but are we convinced? Is the curse broken or was this just a lucky 3 pts for Norway?
