Kurt and Morné are joined by John Oglesby of The Biblical Hermeneutics Podcast to discuss the hermeneutics associated with Calvinism. Is Calvinism the result of a consistent and normative interpretation of the Scriptures, or is it a result of reading a theological system into the text?

In this episode of The Word on Worldviews, Kurt and Morné begin a series on Calvinism. This introductory episode covers the five points of Calvinism and how it's typically defined by Calvinists themselves. Is Calvinism Biblical, or is it more a system of theology used to interpret scripture, containing overstatements that aren't really in the Biblical text? Is proof texting really a good way to do exegesis and understand what a passage is saying?

In the final episode of the first season of The Word on Worldviews, Kurt and Morné discuss Dispensationalism, which is the theology that they both hold to. When compared to Reformed theology for example, particular distinctives distinguish these two theological viewpoints, including in the areas of how prophecy is interpreted and how one understands salvation (Free Grace vs Lordship salvation viewpoints). Probably the most important thing to consider regarding these distinctives is how these conclusions are arrived at. Furthermore Morné and Kurt share some personal perspectives on being Free Grace Dispensationalists in South Africa.

In this episode, Kurt and Morné each present a bad theology or conspiracy theory that people connect with the Bible and then provide actual Biblical correctives. Kurt discusses the Mandela-effect, specifically as it relates to supposed parts of the Bible that have "disappeared."

In this episode of The Word on Worldviews podcast, Kurt and Morné cover various hermeneutic approaches throughout history and how deviations from the literal-grammatical-historical approach are nothing new. The Cringe-o-meter appropriately ties in with the episode's topic and features an article by a well known author, along with an appropriate response written by, you guessed it, Dr. Christopher Cone.

In the second episode of The Word on Worldviews, Kurt and Morné continue in their discussion on hermeneutics. They introduce a concept called, The Genesis Principle as outlined by Dr. Christopher Cone in his book, Priority in Biblical Hermeneutics and Theological Method. In this principle, the speech acts of God and the responses to them in Genesis set the method in place for how one would interpret the rest of the Bible. Furthermore, the cringe-o-meter goes to extra-terrestrial levels.

In the first episode of The Word on Worldviews, Kurt and Morné introduce themselves and also start a discussion on an important first topic. How one approaches various worldviews is grounded in a source of authority and how truth is derived from that. This then leads to the topic of hermeneutics, i.e. how we interpret that source of authority.
