In this episode of The Write Creed, Eisha talks about the ICC Cricket World Cup 1996 Quarterfinal match between India and Pakistan in Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. There were two points the match turned in India's favour. One was when Pakistani batsman Aamir Sohail ribbed Indian bowler Venkatesh Prasad after scoring a boundary only to be bowled out the next ball. The second big moment for India was Ajay Jadeja scoring 22 runs of a single over by Pakistani bowler, Waqar Younis. Eisha, like many Indian women, loved cricket but never played a match in her life. She devoured the sports pages of newspapers and magazines till she stumbled across Javed M Ansari's piece in India Today headlined The Last Namaaz in Karachi. The piece moved her so much that, at 13, she decided she wanted to be a freelance journalist. Now, she is one. #cricket #cricketworldcup #icc #india #pakistan #indopak #indopakcricket #cricketdiplomacy #journalism #sportsjournalism #journalist #indiatoday #newspapers #magazines #writingaboutwriting #thewritecreed #eishasarkar #aamirsohail #venkateshprasad #bangalore
