Start your hype engines! Team green have announced their latest Xbox Developer_Direct for 2025 and we've got a whole slate of new games coming for us all to enjoy this year. The team break down all the possibilities in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 245! Aside from some brief discussion on games like Eternal Strands, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Assassin's Creed: Shadows, the majority of the show is discussing the vast possibilities available to us for the Xbox Developer_Direct 2025. South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are all on the docket, with a 4th mystery game on the way. Even better, it's a 'brand new' and 'unannounced' game, and the community is buzzing with all the possibilities. What do you think it could be? We also break down all of the subsequent rumours from Jez Corden and NatetheHate, with more first party Xbox titles going multiplatform in 2025. Lastly, we celebrate our Patrons, without whom our continued existence would not be possible. This year, we're bringing even more value and content to an XboxEra Patreon subscription, and if you love what we do, we wholeheartedly recommend signing up and supporting us directly via Patreon yourself.
A new year brings new beginnings, and the same is true for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 244! The year ahead looks chock full of amazing video games, and like you, we can't wait to play them! In this weeks episode, Jon, Nick and Jesse talk through a little bit of news, from crossovers that never happened to getting the star of UK darts on the XboxEra Podcast at some point in the future. The big discussion of course revolves around the fabled 'Year of Xbox'. There are so many games, so many possibilities and we are so excited to get stuck in. South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable, Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 and so much more - and that's just Xbox first party. We talk through it all with our amazing community having their say in the chat, and Nick and Jon do battle once again in What Year, M'Dear and The Annual Friends Quiz, with Jesse overseeing it all with his usual production skills. XboxEra had an amazing 2024 thank to you, and we know that tackling 2025 with our community in tow is going to be even better. Supporting independent publications is more important than ever, so please consider supporting us via Patreon.
It's the last podcast of year, so deep from within Santa's sack, a wonderful Jeff Grubb appears to join Nick for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 243! Jon has been forced into exile for the week (and is sick with the Flu!) and Jesse is the voice of God - why? Because every year, Nick and Jeff get together to talk video games in an episode officially known as Grubbsmas. They talk through Jeff's Christmas Train derail, Indiana Jones, Marvel Rivals and Prince of Persia and a whole host of topics. What will Xbox do in 2025? The Switch 2 is inbound and not to forget the community questions from our wonderful Patreon community. So get comfortable and settle in for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 243! Jump in!
As the year draws to a close, the XboxEra team get together for the penultimate episode of the year. So if you're feeling festive, sit back and enjoy the XboxEra Podcast Episode 242! This week, we're joined by the lovely Matt "Deadly" Headley, who recently garnered a lot of attention and praise for his marketing breakdown of Team Green's "This is an Xbox!" ad series. He kindly brought a written version to XboxEra for folks that wanted an alternative way to consume his op-ed beyond his excellent video. The team dive into that, in addition to what the future holds for Xbox as an organization and future hardware. Nick puts his foot down on Jon's attendance to the last XboxEra podcast of the year, despite the community backlash. We talk through a bunch of great games, answer your questions and more - so Jump in!
The Game Awards for 2024 have been and gone, and the podcast crew return to discuss it and the rest of the latest in gaming in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 241! I was out this week doing some last minute testing on the Console Wars The Card Game to be ready for shipping in Q1 2025. This week, Nick and Jesse are joined by special guest Cary Golomb aka 'The Phawx' to go through all the latest in gaming. The team talk about his history on Youtube, in addition to Xbox, Playstation and PC handhelds. Expect plenty of Game Awards chatter, Indiana Jones and more. Jump in!
What a week in video games it's been! Indiana Jones and Marvel Rivals have arrived, and the podcast crew kick back to discuss it all in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 240! Bit of an unusual episode this week! The UK is being battered by a large storm, and Jesse and Nick were a bit amused as Jon experienced a power cut as soon as the show went live. He managed to stick around via mobile to talk about Indiana Jones and Marvel Rivals, which both released this week. Indiana Jones is fantastic, and both Nick and Jesse are pretty keen on Marvel Rivals. Jesse reviewed the new TV series "Secret Level" and The Game Awards gets some 'predictions' from Nick. All this and more, so jump in! If you love what we do, please consider supporting us directly via Patreon.
This week despite having a plan (or at least the workings of one) to talk about all the latest in gaming news, the team ended up on a bit of a tangent. Buckle up for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 239 - it's a long one! This week, Jon, Nick and Jesse are joined by Gareth Williams, co-founder of Press Engine. While we had plans to talk about the legendary Shuhei Yoshida moving on from 31 years at Sony, we got a little...side-tracked. What followed was a wide-ranging conversation about Gareth's beginnings in the industry, what to do if you're starting out covering video games and the importance of indies and game discovery. We also talk at length about handhelds, the gaming media, the industry itself and of course, lots of questions from our wonderful Patreon community. Oh and yes, I'm playing Indiana Jones. If you'd like to support us directly, the very best way to do that is by becoming a Patron - just head to patreon.com/xboxera. Oh, and there's a sale on our merch store for 15% off everything until December 6th - so don't be shy! Just use the code BLKFRIDAY at the checkout! Jump in!
Another weekend passes us by, and of course another week of the insanity that is the video game industry. Sit back and unwind as we break it all down in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 238! Join Jon, Nick and Jesse as we break down all the latest in video games from across the industry! Avowed got some pretty great looking previews, but we weren't invited and are definitely not bitter about it at all. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 got off to a very rocky start, but seems to have sorted itself out now and folks are touring the entire planet in various flying machines. But many others are stepping into the zone for the first time, as they wrangle with the massive world of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which while getting a mixed reception from video game critics, has sold over a million copies, with many more folks playing via Xbox Game Pass. Oh, and Sony might be buying the parent company of FromSoftware. So that's fun. All this and more, so jump in!
Another weekend rolls around and the team unite once more to talk about everything Xbox for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 237! Join Jon, Nick and Jesse as they break down all the latest from across the video game industry, with a focus on your favourite platform, Xbox. Phil Spencer has been on tour and shared some tidbits on new hardware and the removal of red lines when it comes to Xbox franchises going elsewhere. South of Midnight looks incredible in a new documentary, and Avowed gets a fancy steelbook edition with 5 days early access included. Oh, and everything is an Xbox now. Even you. Especially us. Is it all about the ecosystem now? Jon thinks so. All this and more, so jump in!
It's been a week, so perhaps it's best we settle down and get cosy with the podcast crew for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 236! Jon, Jesse and Nick are back this week to discuss all things gaming with special guest Taylor Lyles, ex-IGN Journalist and tech enthusiast. On this episode, they break down what they've been playing, from Metal Slug Tactics to our Towerborne and Halo Infinite previews. They also spend some time on all the news from this week, from the surprise appearance of Death Stranding on Xbox Series consoles, the return of the original Gear of War voice cast for Gears of War: E-Day and more. As always, all of shows and indeed, our entire site is only made possible by our incredible Patreon community, and if you'd like to join them, we'd love to have you. Just head to patreon.com/xboxera. Another week passes us by on the slow march towards the heat death of the universe, but nothing will stop the podcast crew from getting together for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 235! Join Sik, Nick, and Jesse as they break down all the latest in gaming news from across the industry and Jesse is streaming for 12+ hours to raise money for ExtraLife, and we smashed all our targets with other $2000 raised before we even started the show. Perfect Dark has a new Creative Director, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle previews incredibly well and Dragon Age: The Veilguard received a perfect score from us (and others!), and no-one is mad about that at all, right? All this and more in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 235! As always, a big thank you to our amazing Patreon community for being just awesome. Jump in!
Nick is out for the week, so Jon, Jesse and the lovely Aarsal get together to discuss all the latest in gaming this week. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is here and it's actually pretty great! Xbox have teamed up with MtnDew like it's 2007 and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is not going to get a sequel...at least for now! Jump in!

If you're a fan of our regular weekly podcast show, consider supporting our team directly on Patreon.
Another week, another collection of topics to break down and discuss! It's time to get comfy and join Jon, Nick and Jesse for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 232! It's been a crazy week to be fair. We saw brand new Nintendo hardware, with the announce of 'Alarmo', a (frankly) god awful alarm clock filled to the brim with annoying Nintendo sounds. We've also played a ton of games, from the excellent Inscryption (which just arrived on Xbox Game Pass) to Metaphor: ReFantazio, which garnered critical acclaim. The banner topic though? Halo. The venerable Xbox franchise surprised everyone to start the week with the announce of 343 rebranding to "Halo Studios" and that they're doing away with the aging 'BLAM!' engine that powered Halo since the start. Now it's all about Unreal Engine 5, and hoo-boy, it looks gorgeous. All of this and more, so Jump in!
Another week, and honestly, a relatively quiet one for news, but that didn't stop the crew getting together for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 231 to discuss all the latest in video games. This week, Square Enix flat out states that they want Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox, and people are apparently shocked at the news! People also get real mad if you like Starfield as Shattered Space Reviews are out in the wild. That's not the only game that got a big expansion - Diablo IV's Vessel of Hatred is coming too, and we talk through all the games, the reviews and the news. We also want to thank all our new Patrons for their support - you guys make everything we do possible, and we really appreciate it. Join the growing army via patreon.com/xboxera So get comfy, and join Sik, Nick, and Jesse for the XboxEra Podcast Episode 231! As always, if you do listen to us on Spotify, Amazon or Apple Music, consider leaving us a nice review - we sure do appreciate it!
Another week rolls by, another podcast episode! This week in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 230, Jon, Nick and Jesse reflect on the Tokyo Game Show in what was a pretty good effort from Microsoft in wooing that side of the pond. We had surprise drops onto Xbox Game Pass, new games announced and Square brought the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters to Team Green at last. In other news, Sony had a middling state of play (at least according to the internet at large) and poor old Ubisoft appears to be falling apart at the seams following the announced delay of Assassin's Creed: Shadows. The Podcast crew break this all down, and more in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 230!
It's another week in videogames, and that of course means the crew get together to discuss it! Some were lucky enough to be invited to the Grand Canyon to fly a plane in celebration of Flight Sim 2024...not us though. We're totally not jealous. The Switch 2 'allegedly' leaked, and Sony is up to their remastering shenanigans again - but don't worry - there's a grey console coming to lock all you naysayers in! We break it all down, as well as take questions for our amazing Patreon community. Jump In!
MAHVEL BABY! That's right, Capcom and Xbox have sorted out their issues and will be bringing the fabled fighting game collections to our favourite platform! The PlayStation 5 Pro is wildly expensive, a Sony exec tells fired devs to "take a year and go to the beach", and more as we break it all down. Jump In!
Another week in video games rolls on by, and we break it all down in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 227! This week on the XboxEra Podcast Episode 227, Jon, Nick and Jesse return to discuss all the latest in gaming. We've seen the biggest industry bomb ever in Concord, Capcom and Microsoft worked their MT Framework issues out and all those beloved fighting games are coming to Xbox after all - albeit in 2025. Our wonderful community have successfully brought Console Wars The Card Game to life, and we've all been playing lots of great video games, from Space Marine 2, Astrobot, Space Trucker and more. So sit down, get comfortable and enjoy the conversation in the XboxEra Podcast Epsiode 227!
At last things are getting back to normal. The boys are back from an amazing time at Gamescom, enabled by all of the amazing community that is XboxEra. We saw cool games, nearly burnt down the AirBNB and generally had a very nice time indeed. The Console Wars Card Game Booth was a roaring success, and there are just 2 days left to back it, so get in there quick! Link here: Console Wars The Card Game by XboxEra — Kickstarter In the show, we'll talk about all the games we saw, smelt and touched, in addition to fielding the community question from our wonderful patrons.
