In this episode, Anza Goodbar, an author in our book Your Shift Matters: Resistance to Resilience, talks about her struggle with feeling ashamed, inherently bad and disposable.  Anza doesn't hold back in this interview. She's very open as shares with me her experiences of being molested by her step-father, getting pregnant at the young age of 16 and getting married, ultimately living in an abusive relationship.  Hear how she felt abandoned, both literally and emotionally, by those that were suppose to protect and support her.  The disappointmennt in her family's eyes when they looked at her was unbearable. It caused pain and suffering that took her years to overcome. She talks about the shame that she felt as everyone told her that she'd thrown her life away, she'd be on welfare raising a drug addicted child.  Over time she learned that shame can't live in the same space as compassion. She now shares her story with the world and is greeted with compassion ... the compassion she wishes she received from her family and friends.  The power of healing comes from your willingness to be vulnerable. How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Go to someone you know you can rely on for support.  Someone you can trust to give you sound advice. Know you're not in it alone. Trust your intuition. Tap into your body's inner wisdom and make decisions that are right for you. In this episode, Robyn McTague talks about growing up being very intuitive and having a sense of knowing that something big is about to happen that will change her life forever. That 'something' was being diagnosed with breast cancer, in spite of doctors telling her for six months that it wasn't cancer. Needless to say, she felt betrayed by the medical field! This news completely blind sided her and left her numb and in a haze for days. She went through her first surgery to find out that they didn't get it all. So just two weeks later she was in surgery again. Her recovery was long and she was on chemo for two years.  She talks about how devastating this experience was for her but, perhaps more importantly, she talks about the journey she took to heal herself physically, emotionally and spiritually.  The methods she used were very powerful and effective. Through the process she realized how much of her past she had buried, not fully processing the pain. She also had some powerful revelations that changed the way she approaches life today.  Tune in to hear how she worked through these tough times and how she made this shift from fearful to fabulous! How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Be kind and gentle with yourself first of all. We don't learn compassion for ourselves in our society. It was a foreign concept for me. Think of a small child or a small animal, and tap into that feeling of compassion and then tune to that for yourself. Look at why you hold yourself to a higher standard than you do for others. Get help. Peer support is so powerful if that is available to you. If not, find resources that can help. If you don't click with one resource, find another until you find someone or something that does. In this episode, Bob Upson talks about his experiences as a firefighter for over 30 years and how this ultimately became too much for him. He talks about being on a call where 3 young children and their mother suffered their demise.  As well as another incident where a deceased driver reminded him of his sister-in-law. Experiences like this were the hard part of being in service of others as long as he was. Dealing with the drama and trauma, day in and day out, started to take a toll on him. He got to the point where he wasn't really enjoying it anymore and it was, in fact, dragging him down. He describes how he witnessed some of his firefighting buddies going into a dark downward spiral and knew if he didn't make a change, he might be next.  Ultimately, he decided to leave an environment that was corrosive to him. He says, 'I thoroughly enjoyed my career as a firefighter but I had reached a point where it was becoming corrosive to me. It was time to leave it to the next generation'! Tune in to hear how this manly firefighter type tells the world that he's actually an 'old fashioned romantic'. Also, hear how he wound up shifting from a career firefighter to an ordained minister!  Bob is quite the eclectic guy as he pursues his masters degree in pagan studies, marries people from all walks of life in amazing locations and continues to support the firefighting industry working in the sprinkler industry. He discusses the life lessons that he's learned along the way and how they turned his life upside down ... in an amazing positive way! He shares advice on how we can all tap into our intuition and connection with spirit so we can live a life free of unnecessary struggle. How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Remember that whatever you put your faith in is what grows. If you can shift from a conscious, busy mind to peace, quietness, stillness and oneness you can tap into information and a feeling you've never had before.  The information we receive from spirit is always based on love and if you align with it unconditionally you will see amazing things happen in your life.  To be inspired with the answers we seek we need to demonstrate the courage to only trust the knowledge we spiritually sense is the truth and have a natural love for. Our mental thinking isn't capable of receiving higher wisdom and therefore it becomes confused if you turn to it for your guidance and wisdom. In this episode, Dr. Jennifer Fraser talks about her research about bullying and how shocked she was at how frequently teachers are bullying the students. She describes the long term effects bullying has on the brain and how it causes abnormalities that can be seen in an MRI. She goes on to say that a 'one-off yelling' at a child isn't abusive and won't cause long term damage. However, this isn't the case with chronic exposure to yelling, ignoring, name calling, negligence and put downs, just to mention a few. The good news is that the brain is fluid and can be repaired and damage can be reversed. Studies have shown that significant improvement can be made in just 21 days with the right tools and techniques.  "We can rehabilitate the brain just like we can repair a knee or broken bone." Jennifer Fraser is passionate about changing the system when it comes to bullying where hush money should no longer be the solution. To change the system we need to get to the root cause and that lies with the perpetrator. How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Unjust systems, status quo is all about a war of attrition. They will use their power and control of timing to wear you down. It is vital to have a great deal of resistance to push back every time they try to ignore your concerns, drag out the timeline, treat you as if you are hysterical, act as if you are unworthy, intimidate you and threaten you. You must stay the course. Motivational Quote  How to Connect LinkedIn | Facebook | Twitter Who's Jennifer Fraser?
