How Wikipedia lies to you | Ashley Rindsberg

Wikipedia has been hijacked. Although the free internet encyclopedia poses as a neutral, unbiased and trustworthy source of information, it can easily be manipulated by ideologues, governments and other partisan actors. Here, Ashley Rindsberg – editor and chief investigative officer of @NPOVMedia – lifts the lid on the behind-the-scenes policies that make bias inevitable and allow a handful of anonymous editors to rewrite reality. ‘The censors are insatiable’ | Adam Szetela on how ‘sensitivity readers’ captured publishing

There is more than one way to burn a book. In the modern publishing industry, books are censored, edited or scrapped entirely to avoid straying from woke dogma. ‘Sensitivity readers’ scour for words, characters and plot lines that could cause offence to minorities. ‘Morality clauses’ ensure that authors espouse the correct views in public. The result is books that are bland, predictable and utterly safe. Here, Adam Szetela – author of That Book is Dangerous! – lifts the lid on how the publishing industry itself became the enemy of literature. Clashes outside Danish embassies led to at least 200 deaths. Flemming Rose was the culture editor who commissioned the cartoons. Here, he explains why we must fight for the right to draw Muhammad, why we must never bow to Islamic intolerance and why self-censorship is the greatest enemy of free speech. ‘Starmer is worse than Chamberlain’ | Andrew Fox

Keir Starmer’s recognition of Palestine has been hailed by Hamas as a victory for its cause. The anti-Semitic army has thanked the UK prime minister for rewarding the 7 October pogrom, the deadliest day for Jews since the Nazi Holocaust. Here, Andrew Fox – former British Army officer and co-host of the podcast, The Brink – argues that this is a moment of shame for Britain. Starmer’s gambit, he says, will do nothing for ordinary Palestinians and will not bring an end to the war in Gaza. It will only embolden those committed to Israel’s destruction. ‘Blackouts are coming’ | Kathryn Porter

Politicians are finally waking up to the folly of Net Zero. The Tories have called for drilling in the North Sea. Reform UK wants to lift the ban on fracking. But the UK’s Labour government remains totally committed to renewables, no matter the costs. Here, Kathryn Porter – energy consultant and founder of Watt-Logic – explains why Britain’s bet on wind power has proved so disastrous. The result is rising prices, deindustrialisation and even the risk of major blackouts. The time to change course, she says, is now. ‘It’s totalitarian’ | Wesley Yang on the ‘successor ideology’

When a man can declare himself a woman, how do we know what is true or false anymore? The institutions we might once have looked to – from academia to journalism to science – have all rallied around the absurdity that we can change sex at will. Here, Wesley Yang – essayist and author of The Souls of Yellow Folk – explains how a ‘successor ideology’ has captured the liberal mind. It has swapped tolerance and pluralism for brutal authoritarianism. And it has redefined reality itself, embedding lies in the fabric of our institutions. Democracy, Wesley says, is our only hope of resisting it. Read spiked: https://www.spiked-online.com/     Support spiked:https://www.spiked-online.com/support/ Learn more about your ad choices. What a giant faggot. Oh, Zelensky was democratically elected (no mention of the U.S./NATO-backed coup preceding). Ukraine was just tending its own kettle when teh eebul Russkies come a'invadin' (no mention of Kiev's years of hostile actions toward the ethnically and pro-Russian people of the eastern provinces). I could go on, but character limits and all. Simply put, that was just plain embarrassing.

Sack the editor. How did that happen? Last interview I could tell something was wrong right away when Fraser sounded like a Smurf. Then he starts talking over the top of the interviewee.

I love the propaganda advert for the French energy company raking in the cash thanks to the British people's subsidy paid towards the profiteering French state. The ironies abound. Hilarious !
