In this intimate, soul-stirring conversation, Jacqueline sits down with Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers, attorney-at-law, athlete, politician, trailblazer, and the first Black Caribbean woman crowned Miss Universe Great Britain. But today, titles take a back seat. What unfolds is an honest, grounded, sister-to-sister conversation between two Caribbean women who carry big dreams, big purpose, and even bigger vision for our region.
You’ll hear Dee-Ann open up about what shaped her, what grounded her, and what keeps her anchored as she navigates the world as a woman committed to integrity, service, and possibility. She shares candid reflections on growing up in Anguilla, the roots of her resilience, and how being from a “small place” has actually carved out her strongest superpowers.
Together, we dive into the realities of Caribbean leadership, the challenges we still face as women, and why “small island, big dreams” is needed. Dee-Ann also speaks on community, Caribbean pride, the weight and beauty of representation, and the layers that make up her multidimensional life.
This episode feels like sitting outside on a breezy Caribbean evening, chatting with a wise, real, and deeply committed friend who is committed to seeing her people rise.

This week on The BeyondWoman Conversations, we open the floor to a subject that often stays buried beneath strength and silence — the emotional, mental, and relational weight that men carry but rarely speak of.
Our guests — Faith Waltson, Barry Groves, and Coach Jherrel Peters — share honest reflections and expert insight on how expectations, love, pain, and pressure shape the inner lives of men.
We experienced a minor technical issue at the outset (real-life moments happen!), but the essence of this dialogue quickly takes center stage. What follows is an eye-opening, truth-telling exchange that challenges stereotypes, encourages vulnerability, and reminds us that healing and understanding are a two-way process.
As we acknowledge Depression Awareness Month, this episode feels especially timely. Statistics continue to show rising rates of depression among men, many of whom suffer in silence. This conversation is our small way of breaking that silence, reminding men (and those who love them) that vulnerability is not weakness, and healing begins when we dare to speak.
🎧 Listen now to “The Weight He Doesn’t Speak Of” — a raw, real, and necessary conversation on the pain, pressure, and love men carry in silence.

In this episode, we speak with Dr. Terri-Ann Thompson for an honest, empowering conversation on women’s health and wellness.
Dr. Thompson is a Senior Research Scientist at Ibis Reproductive Health with over 15 years of experience in public health. She specializes in examining the impact of reproductive health policies and care models, while centering the voices and needs of women and diverse communities. As part of her work, she partners with community-based organizations, health care providers, advocates, and other stakeholders to ensure research questions align well with people’s priorities, amplify the experience of disparate populations, and examine how existing policies and services could better serve people’s needs. Prior to joining Ibis, Terri-Ann worked for Yale University School of Medicine (YSM), directing the coordinating center for the Eastern Caribbean Health Outcomes Research Network (ECHORN).
In this episode, she sheds light on some of the most pressing issues women face today—why reproductive health conditions often go undiagnosed, how we can break the stigma around menstruation, and what it really means to prepare for menopause. Welcome back to TheBeyondWoman Conversations Podcast with your host, Jacqueline Johnson, founder of TheBeyondWoman.
This is the space where we talk real, rise higher, and reclaim what’s always been ours.
Perhaps you’ve been questioning yourself lately—
Wondering why you still hesitate…
Why you shrink in certain rooms…
Why you feel like you have to ask for permission to want more.
If that’s you, know this:
You’re not alone—and you’re not imagining it.
In today’s episode, we’re pulling back the curtain on the subtle, yet powerful social conditioning that teaches women to stay in line, tone it down, and make themselves smaller.
But no more.
This conversation is necessary, especially for the woman who feels the nudge to take up more space…
Who’s tired of playing by quiet rules she never agreed to…
And who’s finally ready to break free.
In this episode, we cover:
Why many women still feel like they need permission
Everyday signs you’re playing small (without realizing it)
How cultural norms and silent expectations hold us back
Practical mindset shifts to help you rise boldly
Questions you can ask yourself to start showing up differently
A Quote to Remember:
“You don’t need permission to be powerful. You just need to remember that you already are.”
Listen now and share with a woman who needs to hear this.

What happens when the version of you the world applauds no longer feels aligned?
In this episode of TheBeyondWoman Conversations Podcast, we sit down with Carla Williams Johnson — Global Marketing Influencer, PR Powerhouse, and unapologetic Caribbean woman — for a refreshingly raw and inspiring conversation about reinvention.
This wasn’t a traditional interview — it felt like two girlfriends catching up, laughing, and bonding over shared experiences and truths that too many women, especially in the Caribbean, keep silent about.
Carla opens up about:
The moment she realized she needed to restructure her business (and her life)
The internal battles of reinvention — fear, insecurity, and cultural pressures
Why alignment matters more than appearance or applause
How she helps CEOs and Caribbean leaders get featured, seen, and paid in spaces that once felt out of reach
Whether you’re in the middle of a quiet pivot or standing at the edge of change, this episode reminds you that reinvention isn’t about rejection — it’s about reclamation.
✨ You don’t need to become someone new. You just need to become more of who you truly are.

Menopause isn’t just hot flashes and hormone talk — it’s an emotional, physical, and spiritual shift that Caribbean women often navigate in silence. In this episode, we’re joined by Dr. Tanya Beaubrun, the Caribbean’s leading expert in functional and integrative medicine, to unmask what menopause looks like for Black women in our region.
We go beyond the typical symptom checklist and explore the deeper truths: Why are we not being seen by our doctors? Why do we downplay our discomfort? And how can we reframe this transition as a sacred, joyful evolution instead of something to hide?
If you’re over 35, this conversation is your permission to name what’s happening, to seek support, and to start thriving through midlife.
