The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 8th study session on Michael Meiers' Was Jonestown a CIA Medical Experiment. This infamous mass murder has countless parallels to our recent literary selections - Columbine, Michael Swango, and The Hart murder-suicide. The Rev. Jim Jones, a White man born in a Racially Restricted Region of Indiana, took a thousand people from California to Guyana, South America. On November 18th, 1978, Jones killed nearly all 1,000 of his mostly black followers and orchestrated the assassination of Congressman Leo Ryan. Some were shot, but most were poisoned with cyanide, just like "Double-0 Swango." For nearly half a century, this event has been conventionally understood as a bunch of brainwashed black loons following a White charlatan to their demise in the jungle. Meiers' work suggests something far more nefarious. Last week, we learned about the assassination of the first black superintendent of any major California jurisdiction, Dr. Marcus Foster. Shot with cyanide bullets in November of 1973 (5 years before the November 1978 Jonestown massacre), the Symboinese Liberation Army (SLA) claimed credit for the slaughter and proceeded to kidnap Patricia Hearst, White daughter of publishing titan Randolph Hearst. Meiers suggests that the SLA was a CIA creation and their harebrained kidnapping may have been an elaborate distraction to keep North Americans from paying more attention to the concurrent COINTELPRO and Watergate scandals involving state-sanctioned corruption. Meiers also suggests Rev. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Micki Burdick. Research Project Manager at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, Dr. Burdick examines reproductive justice, rhetoric and Racism/White Supremacy. She and WNBA number one draft pick Caitlin Clark are White Women and University of Iowa alumni. Gus found her 2024 report, “Let’s Make the Womb Safe Again”: Ethnographic Explorations of White Evangelical Women’s Language of Reproductive Injustice. This recent publication examines how White Women skillfully use words to shape reproductive policy. However, Gus was able to research further and located Dr. Burdick’s 2023 dissertation, Spectacular Surveillance: Gender, White Christian Nationalism, and Evangelical Women in the Pro-Life Movement. This is a far more comprehensive treatment of the history and evolution of White Women’s Work to shape thinking about and legal restrictions regarding sexual behavior and production of offspring. Dr. Burdick submits that White Women have been the foundation of the White evangelical-backed opposition to abortion. Their "pro-life" rhetoric consciously and subconsciously reifies that White Lives. Matter. In fact, they support the System of White Supremacy while employing Racial Showcasing to deceptively portray themselves as being in support of all human life and Justice. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Racist Suspect, Dr. Jennifer Saul. A professor and Waterloo Chair in Social and Political Philosophy of Language, Dr. Saul’s area’s of interest include: “Racist and sexist language, diversifying academia, implicit bias, pragmatics, deception.” Gus found her 2023 publication, Dogwhistles and Figleaves: How Manipulative Language Spreads Racism and Falsehood, while searching for recent publications. Gus T., and attempted counter-racist scientists, should be keenly interested in the use of words and the science of deception. Students of the late Dr. Frances Cress Welsing should pay particular attention to the title of this book. In The Isis Papers: Keys to the Colors, Dr. Welsing provides invaluable analysis about the importance of figleaves and dogs in the Culture/System of White Supremacy/Racism. Fuller reminds us that the primary method of maintaining White Power over non-white people is deception. The fact that so many people think Simpson committed murder is a testament to the dexterity and lethality of White Deception. Speaking of butchers, 19-year-old Sade Robinson, a black female, was found dismembered, with her remains scattered about Milwaukee county, Wisconsin. White employers still reject large numbers of applicants with names commonly associated with black people. Leroy and Lakeisha were two of the names used to suggest that the job seeker was classified as black. Interestingly, the report made no mention of the same sort of impact for people with non-black, non-white sounding names. We also discuss the tremendous increase in young workers entering the trade industry as opposed accruing 4 years of debt and the shaky job prospects of a college degree. We learn a teaspoon about the history of tipping wait staff - which is directly connected to the System of White Supremacy. Female workers in jurisdictions with reduced minimum wage for tipped workers are more likely to be subjected to sexual abuse on the job. The deaths of people like Maxine Harpe and Chris Lewis are often omitted from the standard narratives of Jonestown. Meiers suggests that Jones used his considerable political might in Mendocino County - which included PT members having local government jobs and Rev Jones' own employment as a school teacher and foreman on the Mendocino Co. jury - to squash unfavorably publicity and/or formal investigations of the temple. Gus denounced Meiers for mentioning the murder of 22-year-old Rory Hithe by PT member Chris Lewis, but failing to include that both black males were members of the Black Panther Party. In fact, Hithe was previously convicted for his involvement in the murder of Alex Rackley, who was reportedly accused of being an "agent" sent to spy on the Panthers. Hithe was released early for "excellent behavior." Lewis was found not guilty for killing Hithe, only to be murdered himself years later. Gus and listeners think Meiers fails to provide sufficient evidence and/or motivation for Rev. The C.O.W.S. hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism 04/05/24 California christened April Fool’s Day 2024 by boosting wages for fast food workers - which, according to Gov. Gavin Newsom, is composed of 80% non-white workers. Some workers experienced this wage boost with a simultaneous reduction in hours, or in some instances, layoffs. Across the continent in the Washington D.C., minimum wages will rise for tip-earning workers. Once again, this low-skill, low-wage employee group is disproportionately non-white. On the opposite side the planet in France, legislation to prohibit the Racist abuse of black hairstyles in the workplace is being considered by the senate. Lots of this new fangled legislation - often using the verbiage “crown act” - has been passed in many US jurisdictions over the past half decade. Disaster struck in Baltimore, Maryland this week after a cargo ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. 6 workers died in the crash, and they may all be classified as non-white. The team had a ball game in Washington state, but hopped the state line to get lodging in neighboring Idaho. This region of the US has a low population of dark people, and the local were allegedly less than hospitable to the visiting women's hoops stars. In fact, the team accuses the Idaho locals of practicing Racism and calling the young ladies niggras. NCAA champion Bill Russell is rolling over in his grave. We also discuss legislation to authorize $20 per hour minimum wage for some California fast food workers. The wage increase starts April 1st, but some SoCal food conglomerates like Pizza Hut have already begun laying off workers. Chipotle and McDonald's are raising prices. According to Gov. Meiers connected these illegal operations to the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968 and President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Jones traveled to Cuba, Brazil and other parts of South America to study black people, non-white religious practices, and possibly other duties for his White bosses. Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple - which eventually made its headquarters in San Francisco, California. While reading Michael Meiers’ Is Jonestown a CIA Medical Experiment, we learned about Silicon Valley’s roll in controlling and monitoring dark people throughout the known universe. This reminded Gus of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing’s nemesis, University of Stanford legend and Nobel Prize winner Dr. William Shockley. Gus searched for more information on Dr. Shockley and discovered Harris’ extraordinary 2023 publication, Palo Alto: A History of Capitalism, California & The World. Harris details the central role of the global System of White Supremacy in the founding of the “Golden State” and how the White will to maintain world White Power has shaped the development of the electoral college behemoth that is California. The omission of Rev. Jones is one of the only demerits of the book. Eugenics, the Black Panther Party, COINTELPRO, crack cocaine, Ronald Reagan and Nazi Germany are all placed within the context of the land of wine vineyards, 49ers, and Hollywood. The Race Soldiers received sentences ranging from 10 to 40 years respectively - although they could have received the death penalty for committing these crimes "under the color of law" - meaning practicing White Supremacy while wearing a police badge. The sentencing happened about a week after a Pearl, Mississippi enforcement official, Racist Suspect Michael Green, was accused of forcing a black male to lick urine from the jail floor. And all this was beautifully timed for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which happens every March 21st. The black female professor took her own life earlier this year after alleging White university officials - including Mosley - practice Racism against her. Gus submits that Dr. Cadia-Bailey be highlighted for the remainder of "Women's History Month" and inspiration to discuss the debilitating impact of Workplace Racism. We also discuss the importance of asking questions and learning in the workplace. The Jones Klan lived in a number of Racially Restricted Regions within the Hoosier state - and Meiers highlights that Jones was poorly regarded by the large population of blond, German immigrants. He studied black congregations, black pastors, and religious activities in general. He used this research to deceive, manipulate and bilk his predominantly black congregations. Meiers states that for the duration of his ministry, Jones sought out black people to dominate. We heard more details about how Jones may have fabricated his medical records to help conceal his death in the massacre and we learned of suspicions that Jones may have been involved in the death of his adopted non-white daughter, Stephanie, and the White superintendent of the church's nursing home, Mable Stewart. They along with 4 others died in a ghastly May 1959 automobile crash in Indiana. Best selling author Yashica Dutt visited the University of Washington to discuss her globally successful book, Coming Out As Dalit: A Memoir of Surviving India’s Caste System. The book was first published in 2019, but an updated US version was released in 2023 that includes Gus' Seattle, Washington and the recent legislation to prohibit "caste discrimination" in the workplace. Dutt is a non-white female born in the area of the world known as India. Her memoir examines her life as a "Dalit," non-white female member of India's caste system. It's been said that this system of mistreatment predates the System of White Supremacy. However, Whites overpowered dark people in this part of the universe too. Gus learned that Vice President Kamala Harris is a member of India's upper caste - which may explain her access to the White House and a White husband. Gus was able to ask Dutt about the role of skin color in the caste system. The bestselling Dalit author had lots to say on this subject! She even detailed growing up with skin bleaching creams. Many non-white females in attendance (classified as Indian) seemed to vigorously relate to the experience of chemically damaging your melanin-rich epidermis. People classified as black get the "double whammy" of mistreatment in this part of the world. The workplace is on the plantation and offers a thin pretense of "safety." The suspicious death of John Barnett offers a chilling reminder of the myriad of workplace dangers. Barnett, a White Man, reported problems with Boeing airplanes that rendered the machines unsafe. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the third study session on Michael Meiers' Was Jonestown a CIA Medical Experiment? This infamous mass murder has countless parallels to our recent literary selections - Columbine, Michael Swango, and The Hart murder-suicide. The Rev. Jim Jones, a White man born in Indiana, took a thousand people from California to Guyana, South America. On November 18th, 1978, Jones killed nearly all 1,000 of his mostly black followers and Congressman Leo Ryan. A few were shot, but most were poisoned with cyanide, just like "Double-0 Swango." For nearly half a century, this event has been conventionally understood as a bunch of brainwashed black loons following a White charlatan to their demise in the jungle. Meiers' work suggests something far more nefarious. Last week, Meiers detailed the US deployment of mercenaries on the continent of Africa. He detailed how Whites funneled money, paid soldiers, and arms into Angola to manipulate and destabilize the newly "independent" nation. One of Jones' henchmen, Phillip Blakey, is alleged to have participated in these Angola mercenary operations. We heard more details about Jones using "antisex" with male members to manipulate and control their thoughts, speech, behavior, and emotions. Jones is also credited with the creation of "direct deposit" to save his elderly parishioners from being mugged before they can invest in the Peoples Temple.
