Monday mornings were typically quiet. However, on August 23rd, 1971, four men wearing dark glasses and hats stormed into the shop. Joseph thought fast and ducked down—he hastily locked himself in the back room before the men could see him. He could hear the shop assistants being ordered to the floor at gunpoint, so Joseph pressed the silent alarm that alerted officers at Blackpool Police Station. It was 9:41 am. Within 15 minutes, three men would be fighting for their lives, and one of the largest manhunts in Lancashire history would be launched in search of one of the men responsible…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing, script editing, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Undernight by Lincoln Davis Bamburgh by Stephen Keech The Diary by CJ0 The Last Straw by CJ Oliver Altered Fate by Cody Martin Arcadia by Cody Martin Beat The System by Cody Martin Far From Home by Cody Martin Half Empty by Cody Martin Intercept by Cody Martin Loaves+Fish by Cody Martin Tainted By Darkness 2 by Cody Martin Negative Thoughts by Craig Allen Fravel Dark Hour by Falls Ripley by Falls Crescendo by Featherland Dystopia by Ian Kelosky The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Ventures Call by Lincoln Davis Mighty Hand by Stephen Keech Race Against Time by Moments Distances by Salon Dijon Worth by Shimmer Mainframe by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeM6RXDKQ3gZbDHaKxvrAyAX - https://twitter.com/TWAU_PodcastFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/theywalkamonguspodcastInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/theywalkamonguspodcastThreads - https://www.threads.net/@theywalkamonguspodcastSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. The sergeant followed the single tyre track past the chrysanthemums that had tipped from their pot onto the ground. Dark red stains intermittently coloured the route from the garage, through the garden gate, to between the beech and oak trees on the rough cliffside terrain. A brown trilby hat lay in the dew-soaked grass. Close by was a bloodstained wallet. The narrow pathway led to the cliff’s edge, and as the sergeant peered down to the rocks 120 ft below, he saw who he’d been looking for….*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing, script editing, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton.Become a ‘Patreon Producer’ and get exclusive access to Season 1, early ad-free access to episodes, and your name in the podcast credits. Aly Austin had a feeling that she was close. Entering the rapeseed field from the roadside next to the roundabout, she lowered her eyes and began to scan the ground. It was typically fresh for a May evening, with a slight breeze. In full bloom, the yellow flowers stretched as far as the eye could see. The leaves of each plant were woven to neighbouring stalks, making the terrain tricky to navigate. Just a few minutes into the search, Aly stumbled onto something concealed beneath the dense crops. Decomposition had set in, but there was no doubt in Aly’s mind that she had found Mika Cudworth’s body… *** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing, script editing, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton.Become a ‘Patreon Producer’ and get exclusive access to Season 1, early ad-free access to episodes, and your name in the podcast credits. A motorist became curious when he noticed something in a lay-by on the A464 road east of Shifnal to Wolverhampton. It was 9.30 on a cold winter’s morning. In a split-second decision, the driver decided to pull in to get a closer look. When he explored the undergrowth, he came to the realisation that he was looking at a dead body. It appeared as though a half-hearted attempt was made to cover the remains. The torchlight from the police boat was directed to the water surrounding the hired cruiser. An officer on board saw something gently swaying on the surface. At the same time, a man huddled in a blanket at the back of the cruiser noticed an object in the water next to the stern. Smeaton's Tower, a landmark on the waterfront, is a reminder of the city’s maritime heritage. Built in 1759, it originally served as a lighthouse on the Eddystone Reef before being decommissioned and meticulously rebuilt on Plymouth Hoe overlooking Plymouth Sound and the surrounding coastline. Standing 22 metres high, the red and white tower previously guided ships in the darkness. In late 2021, it was again illuminated, although this time, it was not to guide those at sea home safely, but to raise awareness and say goodbye to someone who was taken from their loved ones in the worst way imaginable…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Benjamin Fitton.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna Fitton. Narration, audio editing assistance, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton.Become a ‘Patreon Producer’ and get exclusive access to Season 1, early ad-free access to episodes, and your name in the podcast credits. Police Sergeant John Ross then saw something at the side of the beaten path — a single black shoe. His pace quickened in the seconds it took to reach it. He also noticed something else: a school bag discarded close by, and educational books scattered beside the bag. Sergeant Ross followed the trail of misplaced items. He found what they had been looking for, but the outcome was not what anyone wanted. He saw the body of a teenage girl…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, audio editing assistance, script editing, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton.Become a ‘Patreon Producer’ and get exclusive access to Season 1, early ad-free access to episodes, and your name in the podcast credits. Seems like the other siblings were quite content in leaving their parent's care to Virginia; yes, there was Covid but there's FaceTime and WhatsApp, too?!

How gullible are these people? This is disgusting, tragic, and astounding that anyone could fall for something like this. I hope this woman gets hers, and gets it really bad.

It isn't victim-blaming if you advise young girls and women to be careful out there at night, this is the world we live in! Sure it would be preferable for us to be safe wherever and whenever we go out but in the meantime...learn self-defense, wear running shoes and don't go out alone at night, please!

I can understand the feeling of being overwhelmed as a caregiver for a patient suffering from dementia, but wouldn't medicide/an assisted suicide be preferable to euthanasia by blunt force?!

So, because Trevor Godfrey was lucky enough that he was retired and didn't get fired, he was still retired, and I'm sure still got his full pension. Well done, UK, well done.

This episode made me so angry. what a total crock of shite, the council couldn't forsee the violence that was escalating? The sherif couldn't tell who was lying even though the man was already convicted of murder? The parole board let him out after 2 years for MURDER? What the actual heck, these poor people. This guy is a total POS and the gov is a joke.

Another pathetic sex offender who doesn't have a problem with assaulting or even killing women but lacks the decisiveness to end his miserable and useless existence.
