Forensic techniques are constantly advancing, and over the past 50 years, they have evolved to the point that even the smallest amount of evidence can provide a breakthrough in what would have been an unsolvable case. In 2025, those scientific advancements led to the oldest cold case murder conviction in British history… *** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, and script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Intention by Chelsea McGough Nuclear Conception by Alice in Winter Don’t Let Go by Alice in Winter Road To Nowhere by Caleb Etheridge Distant Water by Chelsea McGough Mind Over Matter by Chelsea McGough Reminiscence by Chelsea McGough St Mary by Chelsea McGough And Stephen Keech Arcadia by Cody Martin Asylum by Cody Martin Loaves & Fish by Cody Martin Peril Preparation by Cody Martin Rhosphere by Cody Martin Seeking Answers by Cody Martin Stone Table by Cody Martin Storm Coming by Cody Martin The Fall by Cody Martin The Void by Cody Martin Wolgrim by Cody Martin Count Backwards From 10 by Glasseyes Greaser by JB Good The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Undernight by Lincoln Davis Reclaim by Michael Briguglio Memories Of Future Events by Hill First To Strike by Moments SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. In the quiet corridors of a seaside care home, on an ordinary weekday afternoon, a 92-year-old man sat confused in his wheelchair, gripping a butter knife he'd been using to eat his lunch. Within minutes, two police officers would arrive at his door after being alerted that it was vital for them to attend the scene quickly, as someone’s life had been threatened…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, and script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Falling Skies by Louis Lion Darker Days by Alternate Endings Pursuit Of Wonder by Caleb Etheridge Road To Nowhere by Caleb Etheridge To What End by Caleb Etheridge Rampant by CJ0 Bane by Cody Martin Far From Home by Cody Martin Final Moments by Cody Martin Outer Rim by Cody Martin Rising Sun by Colossus Distant Water by Chelsea McGough Siege by Hill Creeper by Hill The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Ancient Ground by Moments The Way Back by Moments Onward by Chelsea McGough SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. The text detailed a remarkable opportunity. A unique one-off property ripe for modernisation, offering adaptable accommodation in a pretty hamlet five minutes from Ashbourne town centre. The home included a sitting room, a second reception room, a kitchen, a bathroom, a half-cellar/workshop, two bedrooms, a large landing suitable for conversion to a third bedroom, a rear garden, a former stable block, a coal store and a garden shed, all for the price of £69,950. However, nowhere in the listing was there mention of the ghosts who were said to live there… *** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane and Rosanna Fitton.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, and script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Royal Catacombs by Cody Martin Rhosphere by Cody Martin Titan by Cody Martin Ocean Of Worlds by Stephen Keech After The Fall by Wicked Cinema Crooked Man by Wicked Cinema Dark Places by Wicked Cinema Extinction by Wicked Cinema Folkloric by Wicked Cinema Hollow by Wicked Cinema Mainframe by Wicked Cinema Rag Doll by Wicked Cinema The Lantern by Wicked Cinema The Rite by Wicked Cinema The Unexplained by Wicked Cinema Veil Of Secrets by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. A taxi driver was simply doing his job during the miners' strike in 1984, when an object was hurled onto the motorway, crushing his car and killing him in the process. Three men had been charged with murder. However, one insisted to the police that he had played no part in the crime. Against the backdrop of the bitter clash between miners and the government, the trial was set to begin. No one could predict how the legal proceedings would end… (Part 2 of 2).*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, and script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Leaking Dawn by Cody Martin Creeper by Hill The Only One In The Room by CJ Oliver Avoiding Mutiny by Cody Martin Cain by Cody Martin Dream Sequence by Cody Martin Every Life Matters by Cody Martin Final Moments by Cody Martin Forbidden Wing by Cody Martin Outer Rim by Cody Martin Sabotage by Cody Martin Tainted By Darkness by Cody Martin Rising Sun by Colossus Dance Of The Dying Swan by Enoch Yang Determination by Lincoln Davis Memories Of Future Events by Hill The Way Back by Moments Worth by Shimmer St Mary by Chelsea McGough And Stephen Keech The Space Between by Chelsea McGough Allied by Wicked Cinema Reconciliation by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. The winter of 1984 forced miners to confront impossible choices. Families faced a dilemma that would tear at the fabric of the country’s tight-knit communities. Miners could continue to strike, pushing them to the brink of poverty, or return to work to put food on the table… (Part 1 of 2).*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, and script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Leaking Dawn by Cody Martin Cain by Cody Martin Dark Night by Cody Martin Defender Trials by Cody Martin Titan by Cody Martin Wolgrim by Cody Martin Strangers by Craig Allen Fravel Winter Train Home by Featherland Glass Houses by Third Age Count Backwards From 10 by Glasseyes Blackstone by Lincoln Davis Determination by Lincoln Davis Memories Of Future Events by Hill The Choice Is Yours by Moments Harboring by Salon Dijon No Escape by Wicked Cinema Veil Of Secrets by Wicked Cinema Rebellion by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. The man and his dog rambled through the North York Moors towards a stream just outside Danby. Like many locals, they regularly enjoyed walking through the scenic heather-covered moorland. There were always areas off the beaten path where they had never set foot and never saw a soul. That day was different. As they got close to the stream, the man spotted something in the water…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, additional audio editing and mixing, and script editing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Avoiding Mutiny by Cody Martin As I Dream by Moments Altered Fate by Cody Martin Apex Program by Cody Martin Defender Trials by Cody Martin Dragonsilk by Cody Martin Rhoshere by Cody Martin Dystopia by Ian Kelosky Fight To The Finish by Joshua Spacht Blackstone by Lincoln Davis Determination by Lincoln Davis Reclaim by Michael Briguglio The Choice Is Yours by Moments Things Gone Wrong by Moments What You're Here For by Moments Checkpoint by Wicked Cinema No Escape by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. Preserving the scene and meticulously collecting forensic evidence at the site of a suspicious death provides the best chance of uncovering the truth about what happened. When an investigation falters in its earliest stages, incorrect assumptions can lead to contamination of the crime scene, creating a devastating ripple effect that could ultimately allow someone to get away with murder…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Rosanna Fitton.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Illustrations and production direction also by Rosanna FittonNarration, script editing, additional audio editing and mixing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Steadfast by Moments, ShimmerPursuit Of Wonder by Caleb Etheridge The Last Straw by CJ Oliver Altered Fate by Cody Martin Apex Program by Cody Martin Arcadia by Cody Martin Beat The System by Cody Martin Dark Night by Cody Martin Depth Of Loss by Cody Martin Dragonsilk by Cody Martin Firewall by Cody Martin Frontier by Cody Martin Illusion by Cody Martin Nightlock by Cody Martin Blackstone by Lincoln Davis Determination by Lincoln Davis Mind Over Matter by Chelsea McGough Endless Night by Moments Sussex by Stephen Keech Onward by Chelsea McGough Dawn Of Triumph by Salon Dijon Dark Places by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. The tide was starting to come in, and the sun was setting over Saltburn-by-the-Sea in North Yorkshire. A woman sat on a bench on the promenade, waiting for her son to join her so they could walk home together. Quite often, the sea was dotted with surfers, but not that day. Wilfred Owen’s infamously chilling poem, written about a gas attack in WW1, is still a stark reminder of the brutality of war over 100 years later. A small segment of Dulce et Decorum est reads, “Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind,Drunk with fatigue, deaf even to the hoots,Of gas-shells dropping softly behind”…Was the physical and mental trauma of such horrors enough to drive a young man to kill when he returned home from war?…*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED ***   This episode was researched and written by Rosanna Fitton.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Illustrations and production direction also by Rosanna FittonNarration, script editing, additional audio editing and mixing by Benjamin Fitton. To get early ad-free access, including Season 1, sign up for They Walk Among PLUS, available from Patreon or Apple Podcasts.More information and episode references can be found on our website https://theywalkamonguspodcast.comMUSIC: Causality by ShimmerLord Of The Dead by CJ0 The Search by CJ0 The Last Straw by CJ Oliver Every Life Matters by Cody Martin Loaves & Fish by Cody Martin Fleet Street by Stephen Keech Gravity by Caleb Etheridge Distances by Salon Dijon Harvester by Wicked Cinema Infiltration by Wicked Cinema No Escape by Wicked Cinema Throughout History by Wicked Cinema SOCIAL MEDIA: https://linktr.ee/TheyWalkAmongUsSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/theywalkamongus. Louisa and Alfred Merrifield were jointly accused of murdering their landlady and employer, Sarah Ann Ricketts. Yet, as the trial unfolded—and Alfred took the stand after his wife—it became clear that they were not being treated equally. The clips of audio at ~13:00 have their volume set extremely lower than the narration, making them inaudible unless you boost volume to max.

The door was ajar for days but the landlord didn't notice it? 🤔

The stream of excuses for this woman's behaviour, which is not the first time she's behaved antisocially like that, is a disgrace. Honestly, Auriel sounds like a horrible, horrible person, disabilities or not. Just watch that CCTV. She deserved every day of that three year sentence.

If you watch the CCTV footage you can clearly see that Auriol pushed Celia into the road intentionally! It's ridiculous that the sentence was overturned.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have been listening to TWAU for years! I even bought a t-shirt and tote! They are both holding up quite nicely for as much as I enjoy wearing the tee and bag carries a multitude of items from groceries to beach bag! ALSO I truly am enjoying the crime episodes of mid 20th century and earlier! They deserve to be told! I praise the police work! I look forward to listening to more!! Your outstanding narration and writing and research team are as superb as always! Love from USA!

Seems like the other siblings were quite content in leaving their parent's care to Virginia; yes, there was Covid but there's FaceTime and WhatsApp, too?!

How gullible are these people? This is disgusting, tragic, and astounding that anyone could fall for something like this. I hope this woman gets hers, and gets it really bad.

It isn't victim-blaming if you advise young girls and women to be careful out there at night, this is the world we live in! Sure it would be preferable for us to be safe wherever and whenever we go out but in the meantime...learn self-defense, wear running shoes and don't go out alone at night, please!

I can understand the feeling of being overwhelmed as a caregiver for a patient suffering from dementia, but wouldn't medicide/an assisted suicide be preferable to euthanasia by blunt force?!
