This week in Linux, we've got new releases from some under the hood projects like FFmpeg and QEMU. There's a new software store for Linux that is exclusively focused on Flatpaks. CachyOS is back on the show again with a brand new release and we've also got a bit of drama to cover this week. There's some drama going on with the SuperTuxKart project and Google has decided that sideloading on Android has to go. All of this and more on This Week in Linux, the weekly news show that keeps you up to date with what’s going on in the Linux and Open Source world. This week in Linux, we have a lot of news to cover. We have some good news and some bad news. Well, people like to start with bad news first, I guess. So there is a fiasco happening with Secure Boot and how it may be affecting Linux users. Also, the EU is proposing a law that is pretty close to being passed that is very scary and a step towards mass surveillance. We'll talk about that. Then also we have some good news and that the Pebble watches are back and we have some beta releases from Linux Mint and Ubuntu Touch as well as SyncThing is back, which is a really cool tool to sync your files across multiple devices. All of this and more on This Week in Linux, the weekly news show that keeps you up to date with what's going on in the Linux and open source world. This week in Linux, we've got a bit of bad news from Intel as they abruptly ended Clear Linux out of no where and Arch Linux warned users that malware was found in the AUR. It's not all bad this week though because Wayback is back on the show with the first preview release for keeping X11 desktops alive in our future Wayland powered world. Plus according to one source, Linux usage is even higher than we already thought it was. A couple of episodes ago I reported that we broke the 5% threshold on the US desktop market based on StatCounter data but according to one source it's already climbed passed 6%. What source you ask? The analytics of U.S. federal government websites. Speaking of governments, GitHub is trying to get EU lawmakers to scale Germany’s Sovereign Tech Fund into a EU wide program to fund critical open‑source projects. Also for some more good news, we're so close to hitting 100,000 subscribers on the channel, if you want to help please consider subscribing. This week in Linux is packed! It's an extra long episode. So if you were wanting more and more TWIL, then you're going to get it this week because Steam Summer Sale is here and it is torching bank accounts. Fedora developers are talking about getting rid of 32-bit support and there's a little bit of controversy around that. We're going to break all of that down. Also, Fairphone 6 has been announced and it comes with kernel patches, an upstream Linux kernel on day one. Firefox 140 has arrived as the new ESR, and there's also some exciting news coming in the next release of Firefox as well. And later in the show, KDE's Wayland wave is continuing to grow to about 70% of users these days. Kubuntu drops X11 by default, and KDE is working on a slick first run wizard. All of this and more on This Week in Linux, the weekly news show that keeps you up to date with what's going on in the Linux and Open Source world. Now let's jump right into Your Source for Linux GNews.

This week in Linux, there's a lot of news to talk about from new desktop updates to new apps and even a bit of drama. We'll start things off this week with the news that Ubuntu 25.10 is dropping X11 on GNOME sessions. There's a lot of chatter around this one and even some yelling about it... we're going to go over what's really happening, why it matters, who's really behind it, touch on a new fork of X11 and more. That's just the first topic... we also got some crazy news from Apple about running Linux Containers on Macs. Then we'll take a look at a new release of the Sway tiling window manager and then we have news from Linux Mint about their next release and some infrastructure changes happening at GNOME. All of this and more on This Week in Linux, the weekly news show that keeps you up to date with what’s going on in the Linux and Open Source world. Naive point of view, IMO.
are there another platform to get your wonderful podcasts? I'm on castbox and this is shit
since you do a recap of the previous week of linux, and DLN's forum will be first discussion about linux. Would you mind possibly doing a section about summarizing interesting posts/discussions from the previous week on the forums? (like how you talked about the Microsoft thing, but do a recap every week? )
10:46: That is am amazing feature! How have I never known about that! (move windows around with Alt button) thank you so much for these DE tips/ tricks.
44:20: how do you do the segment index? is it manual or are you automatically generate it somehow?
36:55: I would be intrested in how you all are handling tutorials. Also, I would love to be able to contribute as well.
MIPS sounds impressive. I'm quite excited to see people hunting bugs in 7-Zip. I've heard that archives can be compromised in a really crazy way, and execute code in some instances. Mostly making Windows vulnerable, but you never know. It could be Linus as well.
I don't trust Linus anymore. He already appears to be embracing the "new direction." It's alleged that he has some Fembot Thot girlfriend, and he's going to destroy the sanctity of the Best Of The Best approach, in favor of pandering to liberalism. Any idiot with half a brain can figure out it's a corporate espionage and infiltration scheme to destroy anything good that outsiders have ( i.e. NORMAL SANE PEOPLE). It's everywhere. Sanity is blocked from every medium. Created your own platform like Gab? No problem. BLOCKED by Host, or ISP, or payment processor.
