This week in retro we discuss the return of a console we thought was dead an buried, the Intellivision.   With two arcade focussed stories we feel old as Space Harrier turns 40 and we remember the fantastic ways that the arcade would try to immerse us in a gaming experience, all thanks to a fantastic video about the Sega R360. Pixel Addict magazine is getting ready to launch it's latest issue, with a focus on the Prince Of Persia.  Leap on over to https://www.addict.media/ to set up a subscription and to check out the special celebration of Amiga Format in the latest issue of Amiga Addict. 00:00 - Show Opening Deadl0ck’s TWiR Guide: bit.ly/TWIRGuide 04:29 - Atari Reanimates Intellivision Story Link: https://www.timeextension.com/news/2025/10/we-brought-the-rivalry-to-an-end-atari-reveals-the-intellivision-sprint Story Link 2: https://www.timeextension.com/news/2024/05/atari-purchases-the-intellivision-brand-but-not-the-delayed-amico-console Intellivision Basic: https://nanochess.org/ecs_basic.html 20:32 - Total Immersion 1985 Style! - Space Harrier Turns 40 Story Link: https://www.theguardian.com/games/2025/oct/14/space-harrier-at-40-sega-arcade-yu-suzuki 32:10 - Housekeeping - News links found below 38:48 - You Spin Me Right Round Baby Right Round (SEGA R360) Story Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-LnKFILB5I Additional Link: https://www.4gamer.net/games/999/G999905/20200704005/ 51:14 - Community Question of the Week 🏆Your monthly support helps us keep the retro news flowing! https://www.patreon.com/thisweekinretro 🕸 TWiR Sub Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/thisweekinretro/ Follow your hosts! The Vectrex mini and TheA1200 are two new pieces of gaming hardware that are on their way. We talk about the Commodore 128, did it make it onto your radar back in the day? 30 years ago Microsoft made a big splash about Windows 95 and somehow became sort of cool.... Issue 9 of SEGA MANIA covers the first half of 1996 which is when the Saturn started picking up a little bit of steam. The Mega Drive also gets plenty of coverage as even in 1996 it was still giving the world some great games. While it's obviously not the same, it can't be, but I like digital pinball of all sorts. That Arcade 1Up unit sounds like it'll be pricey I might still consider it for something fun to play...or maybe get around to building something of my own, maybe tabletop-sized.
