Ep 51. My Birth Story

2019-02-1749:45

In this episode I share my birth story with Sunnie. How it actually felt, what went down, what took me by surprise, how Simon was, what life been like since and the first phase of my game plan back to getting strong, fit and lean.
Sarah is a young girl from Melbourne who is a full time influencer but also studying medicine which is quite a unique combo. She is a feisty and driven young girl who has recently come through a really rough time where she was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. She got down as low as 30kgs and was exercising 3 or more hours a day including long runs which she would get up at 230 in the morning for and then 1.5 hour weight sessions in the gym in the afternoon. Her story is not that of your typical eating disorder and she was very interesting to chat to.
Renowned dietitian and Coach Amy Gianotti and I talk all things Womens health, nutrition and why we are so hard on ourselves. We talk a lot about healing poor relationships with food, exercise and health all round as well as what it is that makes women binge and how to stop. A must listen for someone learning to eat intuitively and make their health and themselves a priority.
I talk about my opinion of the pro's and con's of IIFYM or Flexible dieting and where I think some of these coaches in particular prep coaches are doing people a disservice on instagram by not educating people on the importance of health when trying to make body transformations.
Pregnancy is a pretty crazy journey and I've learnt so much over these last few weeks thats left me feeling so empowered, strong, confident and trusting in the lead up to my birth. I want to share what I've learnt in order to feel this way because let me tell you, between the birth horror stories and medical jargon, the fear of birth is real!

I wrote a blog on this and had a really good response last week so I thought I'd delve into it on the podcast. I also talk about social media and how much of a negative impact it can have if we don't look at it for what it is. Bit of an interesting topic..

An open, honest and real account of my experience in the first 13 weeks of my pregnancy. I thought I'd kill it at pregnancy, eat perfectly, exercise as I always had and slowly grow a cute bump but stay lean sporting a nice pregnancy glow... boy was I taken back when things weren't the picture perfect fairy tale I'd imagined.
This week I interviewed Makaely Green from going Green with the Greens and we chatted all about creating a toxin free home and lifestyle.  Makaely grew up with her mother struggling with mental illness that eventually resulted in her death, and Makaely feared she was on the same path. She suffered severe post partum depression with her first child. Upon her second pregnancy she was determined to adopt a toxin-free lifestyle and along the way discovered that her physical and mental health had been restored!
