Explore the history of the term "Xmas" in ABW President Rev. Dr. Carol Anne Janzen's reflections for the December issue of Tidings Magazine.  Dating back to the Middle Ages, the term, rooted in the symbol for Christ from the Greek alphabet, has enduring Christian origins and is not a reflection of the secularization of Christmas.  Embrace "Merry Xmas" as a meaningful Christian greeting, connecting it to the celebration of Christ's birth.Dr. Carol Anne Janzen referred to Beth Allison Barr, history professor at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and her study of the Christian origin of the term "Xmas".  Click the link to read Beth Allison Barr's article titled "Because Xmas Really is Xpian..." online.  Discover more about the history and meaning of the Chi Rho symbol in the online article "What is the Meaning of the Chi Rho Symbol?" on Christianity.com.Discover more articles in Tidings Magazine by visiting https://www.atlanticbaptistwomen.ca/tidings.
