"Your job is to do the work, not judge the work. Focus on process, not product. Process, not perfection" 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋Welcome to another episode of Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente. Thank you so much for being here today and for being part of this journey. This is a space where we talk about resilience, pivots, and the power of walking together along the way. As we close out the last months of 2025, I’ve been highlighting a special series I call “Empowered Daughters”. Today’s guest is the second of this series and someone I could not imagine my life without. The last time she was here, a little over a year ago, she was still finding her way. Since then, she has risen with incredible strength and achieved so much. She is resilience in motion, with an unbelievable ability to pivot when life takes unexpected turns. When she puts her mind to something, there is no stopping her. She is powerful, determined, and a true force. And here’s the part that makes this conversation even more special for this end of year theme—she IS my actual daughter. I could not be more proud or more excited to welcome her back to the podcast. Let me give you a glimpse into who she is before we get started. She is an actress based in Charleston, SC, originally from upstate NY. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, she honed her craft in theatre performance and discovered a love for behind the scenes work as well. While she has a great love and respect for the theatre, she is currently focused on pursuing a career in film acting. She is excited to continue working towards her future in the film industry and is currently exploring all aspects of the industry from acting to directing to filmmaking. She is passionate about creating powerful, meaningful stories through diverse, complex characters and looks forward to sharing more of these stories in the future. And now, I get to welcome back someone who holds a very special place in my heart— My creative, fearless, unstoppable, daughter, Julia Rose Purdy. "EPP" - Enjoy the Precious Present~Kyle R. Hargrave🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋Welcome Back to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and if this is your first time tuning in! I’m so happy you're here. This is a space where we celebrate resilience, honor the journey, and trust that divine timing always has our back. And speaking of divine timing… today’s guest is a beautiful example of just that. Life has a beautiful way of weaving stories together, often in ways we could never plan or predict. Decades ago, I formed a friendship that would become one of the longest and dearest in my life. We had met in the hustle of New York City in the 1980s, and even as our paths led us to upstate New York, we stayed close, raising our families in sync without even trying. First we each had sons, just a year apart. Then, twins for me, followed by twins for her. Life -mirrored life. And through that friendship, I was given an unexpected gift—my very special guest today - someone I might never have met otherwise. She’s a brilliant artist whose work feels like it captures souls, not just faces. Her portraits are so full of life, you can almost see them breathe. She is one of those blessings that reminds me how deeply life rewards us when we stay open to its journey. She’s an award-winning portrait artist and fantasy illustrator whose body of work includes collaborations with Brotherwise Games, Escape Plan Games, General Pencil Company, and D&DBeyond. She has also created works in the worlds of The Kingkiller Chronicles and The Cosmere. Beyond her studio, she travels across the United States giving lectures, teaching classes, and offering traditional art demonstrations. Her creative life is a mix of commissions, freelance work, gallery show pieces, and educational content. You can find her work at IX Gallery, Gallery Nucleus, in art magazines, books, and fine art prints. So let’s get to it, and welcome the incredibly talented portrait artist and fantasy illustrator, and my new friend, Julia Maddalina. Mandy's daily mantras:"Open mind and open heart" ; "Every breath is a choice" ;"Building is not behind"🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋Welcome Back to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente. If this is your first time listening, you’ve just stepped into a space where we elevate each other along the journey, honor the strength it takes to keep showing up, and trust that everything unfolds exactly when it’s meant to. Today’s guest is someone I first connected with through the VO Academy, where she served as a mentor and quickly became a standout guide. She brings a refreshing mix of authenticity, humor, and encouragement that pushes you to step into your full self—flaws, laughs, and all. She’s a voiceover actor, coach, and creative powerhouse who knows the value of being real—showing up as yourself and taking the risk. She’s not about perfection; she’s about relaxing into the process, and finding confidence in being unapologetically YOU. Her work inspires people to break through fear and embrace their unique stories with courage and joy. So if you’re looking for someone who’ll make you smile, give you permission to loosen up, and remind you that your true voice matters, you’re in for a treat. She is a New York City-based full-time voiceover actor with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Her voice has brought life to projects for brands like Marvel, Crayola, Disney, Peloton, IBM, Coke, Walmart, Kohl’s, and more. Beyond the booth, her heart is in helping others. She’s a dedicated coach who supports voice actors at every stage of their journey, and she does it with humor, honesty, and heart. She also runs a vibrant VO community on Discord, shares daily behind-the-scenes and tips on TikTok, and writes a thoughtful Substack where she dives into everything from industry insights to mental wellness and neuroscience. You’re about to hear from someone who keeps it real, leads with love, and makes this creative path feel a little more possible. So let’s get into it with my friend, the one and only, Mandy Fisher! "What would an outside observer say about how serious you are about your goals? Don't tell me your priorities, show them. The answer is found in the action" ~ Sahil Bloom🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋Welcome Back to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and if this is your first time tuning in—You’ve just stumbled into our cozy little corner of the internet where we lift each other up, cheer each other on, and believe in divine timing and good people. So Welcome to the family! Once again, the VO Academy has given me another gift. I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it —joining that community last year brought me more than I ever could’ve imagined. And today’s guest is one of the best examples of that. He was chosen as the mentor of the month in our group and let me tell you—he didn’t just wear the title, he showed up. He joined our script workouts all month long and brought an energy and generosity that you could feel, even through a screen. I didn’t know much about him, but everyone in the group was already singing his praises. And once we connected, I got it. He just has this way about him—warm, grounded, inspiring… and very funny! Big thanks to my friend Mel Rose for suggesting he’d be a perfect guest for Time to Elevate. So when he sent me his bio… I was blown away. Truly. Here’s just a little bit of who he is. He’s been a working voiceover talent for nearly four decades, and you’ve definitely heard his voice—whether you knew it or not... because I certainly didn’t! His talents have been featured in commercials for Bank of America, Butterball, Clorox, Excedrin, GMC Truck, Dole, L.L. Bean, the Oregon and North Carolina Lotteries, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Kroger, the National Association of Realtors, and Southwest Airlines—plus countless spots for Armed Forces Radio. He’s brought to life hundreds of character voices for Disney, Hanna-Barbera, and Warner Brothers beloved shows, including some of my favorites - Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Winnie the Pooh, DuckTales, and Captain Planet. Add in over 15 characters for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, plus roles in major titles like X-Men, James Bond: GoldenEye 2, Enter the Matrix, and several others he can’t even name because of NDAs—yeah, it’s safe to say this man has range. He was the live announcer for Last Comic Standing for 8 seasons, narrated True Hollywood Stories for E!, and was handpicked to voice NASCAR’s 75th Anniversary videos. For over 25 years, he’s also been the voice behind U.S. military training—and sincerely apologizes to any active or retired veterans for the number of times they’ve had to hear his voice! And fun fact—he doesn’t just play people. He’s also barked like a dog in commercials for Citibank, Carl’s Jr., and Toyota... and he voiced every dog in SimCity’s Pet Expansion Pack. He’s also a producer, director, stand-up comic, and a fabulous margarita master—and he somehow does all this with a smile. But what makes him feel like the luckiest man on the planet? His incredible family, and the voiceover career he’s built doing what he loves. With a résumé like that—and a heart to match—it is my absolute honor to welcome voiceover talent, producer, director commercial and animation writer... and my new friend, Nick Omana! “We all spend so much time looking for what's right before us, in front of us, inside us. We search for God for ways to be faithful; for something to deliver us from present worry or strife. It's not wasted time. But when we catch a glimpse of God living right where we live, we remember our deliverance has already been sent." ~Excerpt from "What We Wish Were True" ', Tallu Schuyler Quinn Memoir🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋Welcome Back to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and if this is your first time tuning in—get ready. You’re in for something special. Today, I get to share the mic with someone whose voice and presence have made a serious mark in the world of storytelling—whether you’ve heard her in an audiobook, caught her in a commercial, or seen her on TV, chances are you’ve experienced her gift. She’s a celebrated voice actor and actress who’s been performing since she was just four years old. With a BA in Theatre and years of training on the black box stages of New York City, she eventually made the big leap to Los Angeles—where she’s built a career that’s as bold as it is inspiring. Now living in LA, she’s recorded over 350 audiobook titles—yes, you heard that right—and received two Earphones Awards from Audiofile Magazine, plus a nomination from the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences for Non-Fiction. Her voice has this way of pulling you in, and honestly—once she starts speaking, you’re hooked. Completely. And here’s where this episode gets A LITTLE personal—because this incredible woman is not just my guest today. She’s my talented, beautiful cousin. Now I won’t reveal my age, but I will say I used to babysit her back in the day. And I had a front-row seat to her becoming the force she is today. What people don’t always see behind the scenes is the hustle. The nonstop auditions, the leap of faith when she moved from New York to LA, and the way she never gave up—even when the path wasn’t clear. Her story is all about resilience, reinvention, and trusting the process. FUN FACT: She is an essayist, a proud mom to a delightful little lady, and to a lovable yellow Lab named Freddy. When she’s not working, you’ll catch her practicing her biking skills, learning Reiki, or— to no surprise here—reading. So, whether you’re chasing your own dream, standing at a crossroads, or just need a little reminder that your path is unfolding exactly as it should—this one’s for you. Let’s get into it—with the multi-talented, deeply inspiring, and absolutely radiant Allyson Ryan. “A day without laughter is like a day without sunshine" 🌞~Charlie Chaplin🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋Welcome Back to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and if this is your first time tuning in—oh, are you in for a treat! Today’s guest brings laughter, talent, and a whole lot of fun. If you’ve been here before, you’ve probably heard me mention the VO Academy and what I did not expect when I joined the VO Academy was just how much of a game changer it would be—not just for my voiceover career, but for the incredible people I’ve met along the way. I always say that my greatest joy, in voiceover and in this podcast, comes from the people I connect with. So That brings me to my guest today—he’s one of the blessings from my VO Academy journey. He’s the only person who could convince me to attempt an English accent for the first time for his audio drama production—though, let’s be real, it was more of a Bronx-English hybrid! But the best part? He made me feel like I nailed it. Before we jump in—here is a peek into his world: From driving a tractor at the age 6 on his grandparents' farm to commanding the stage in over 40 theater productions, my guest has always had a strong presence. In high school a switch from debate class to drama led to award-winning performances and even a college scholarship. After decades in sales and training, he found his true passion in voiceover, lending his voice to everything from commercials and documentaries to eLearning and classic radio dramas. With nearly a decade in the industry and a heart for the "little guy," he brings stories to life with professionalism and warmth. So get ready for a treat and lots of laughter with the amazing, fun-loving, voice actor, director, producer, and fellow podcast host—my friend, Richard Durrington! Welcome to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and whether you’re joining me for the first time or you’re a regular listener – I’m so happy you’re here!
You never know when God is going to send someone into your life who just fits. I recently had one of those moments. What started as a professional connection turned into an instant friendship. My guest today was assigned to interview me for an article in Women Who Podcast Magazine, but it quickly became so much more. Our conversation went beyond the questions—it was real, raw, and full of shared stories, laughter, and even a few tears from both of us. We felt an instant bond that went well beyond the scope of the interview.
From there, we decided we had to meet in person. Living in the same beautiful Hudson Valley, NY we picked a perfect spot—The Craft Fair in New Paltz. When we met, it was as if we had known each other forever. Isn’t it amazing how life works sometimes? You think you’re just meeting someone for work, and before you know it, they’ve become a friend you feel like you’ve had for years.
My guest has always dreamed of becoming a professional writer. After the unexpected loss of her father in 2020 due to alcohol abuse and her own near-fatal accident three years later, she knew it was time to pursue her passion. In late 2023, she made the courageous decision to transition into writing full-time, determined to apply her creativity and talents to projects that have a positive impact. Currently, she writes for Women Who Podcast Magazine and is honored to be invited onto various platforms to share her experiences—discussing everything from the challenges of being the child of a parent with addiction to topics like grief, parenting, and creativity. She lives in New York with her family and their irreplaceable, though slightly neurotic, mini-poodle, and she's finally finding her joy.
It's my absolute pleasure to welcome my incredible, talented friend, Chelsea Pegues!

Welcome to Time to Elevate Podcast!
I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and whether you’re joining me for the first time or you’re a regular listener – I’m so happy you’re here!
One of the most beautiful things about the voiceover and podcasting world is the sense of community. There’s this deep, almost unexplainable connection that ties us all together, and it’s through that connection that I met my guest today.
From the moment I started my voiceover journey, people kept telling me, “You’ve got to talk to this guy.” At first, I didn’t know what to expect, but once I reached out, it became clear that he was someone I needed in my corner. And by the end of this episode, I’m pretty sure you’ll feel the same way.
What I really love is that he’s the type of person who gets straight to the point, cutting through the fluff. He’s fully present in every conversation – never offering generic responses, but instead truly tailoring his advice to who you are.
When he gives you advice, it’s personal, specific, and exactly what you need to hear. And for those moments when you’re stuck or hesitating, these 4 words might ring in your ear: “Just do the thing.”
Beyond that, he’s got this incredible ability to make Christmas magical for voice actors, embracing the role of Santa like no other.
Before I introduce him, let me give you a little background on him. For over 20 years, he has been involved in the broadcast and voice-over industries, working as a full-time Voice Actor since 2012. As he's learned how to grow his business, he developed a passion for helping others grow theirs and has followed this passion in creating the VOpreneur community and coaching Voice Actors as their guide through the business of voice over.
So, sit back, relax, and get ready for an inspiring conversation with today’s guest – a talented and successful voice actor, voiceover marketing coach, podcast host, and the original VOpreneur – my friend, Marc Scott!

Welcome to Time to Elevate Podcast!
I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and I’m thrilled to have you joining me today.
Whether you’re a longtime listener or tuning in for the first time, thank you for stepping into my world.
If you know me even a little bit, you know I believe there are no coincidences in life, only divine timing. And meeting my guest today was a powerful reminder of that truth.
Although I’d heard of him, it wasn’t until a short month ago that we truly connected. And that introduction couldn’t have come at a better time.
I was looking for something to shake me up and help take my voiceover career—
and myself—to the next level. I felt a bit stuck - a little stagnant - and connecting with him has truly been a gamechanger. (we’ll get into the reasons why in just a minute!)
Before I bring him on, let me tell you a little bit about him.
He’s been a warm, trusted voice talent in Western CANADA since 2017, bringing his authentic style to projects like audiobooks, radio ads, e-learning modules, and YouTube narrations—all from his broadcast-quality home studio.
Not only is he an exceptional talent, but he’s also passionate about helping others succeed in the industry. In 2021, he founded the VO Academy - a supportive, affordable community for voice actors to grow together and lift each other up.
It’s my honor to introduce you to a kind, nurturing leader in voiceover, a talented and dedicated voice actor, and the founder of the VO Academy—my friend, Cory Rimes!

I’m your host, Ann Lucente.
If you’re a first-time listener – I’m thrilled you’re here! And if you’re a repeat listener - WELCOME BACK!
Today, I'm excited to introduce someone I first met through online voiceover meetups. From the start, his humor and warmth were impossible to miss. We've shared plenty of laughs, especially when I was a guest on his podcast. His knack for asking random, funny questions left me both nervous and in stitches! I thought I was prepared, even studying beforehand, but quickly realized how clueless I am about the names of songs and artists. Thankfully, he has a way of making everyone feel at ease, even when he's catching you off guard.
Let me tell you a little bit about him.
He is a former radio DJ, newspaper boy, retail expert in a department store paint section, a men’s clothing shop and record store, a commercial real estate broker, residential home builder, movie critic, IT programmer and project leader; IT consulting firm owner, home baker, current owner of Jim Cooper VO, narrating audiobooks of all types...And that’s just on Mondays.
He is a music geek, still preferring vinyl to electronic forms of music, an avid reader and has recently jumped headfirst into the Ancestry craze.
His first novel, Twisted Ties, was published in 2014. The Not So Little Book of Cancer Caregiving was published in 2023.
He has been blessed with a wife of 40+ years, two outstanding kids, three rambunctious granddaughters, and a never-ending string of insane rescue mutts.
So, buckle up for a conversation that promises to be as unpredictable as it is entertaining. Please join me in welcoming my friend, Jim Cooper!

Welcome to the Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente.
If you’re a new listener –I’m excited you’re here! If you have been here before – WELCOME BACK!
Today, I have the pleasure of introducing someone whose journey is nothing short of inspiring. The voice and vision behind an exceptional company, he has spent over a decade creating audio and video content that resonates with clients around the world. But his story is much more than just a timeline of achievements—it's a testament to passion, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
His journey began in the heart of radio, where he not only developed and produced content but also lent his voice as on-air talent for 'Between the Ropes' on 90.5 FM WUOG in Athens, Georgia. This show was a gateway into the world of professional wrestling, where he took on the role of a ring announcer, bringing the energy and excitement of the squared circle to life.
His path then led him to invaluable experiences with World Championship Wrestling and 790 AM 'The Zone,' where he honed his skills in promotions, communications, and live broadcasting. With a degree in Journalism and a minor in English from the University of Georgia, his love for storytelling and communication only grew stronger. His time as a firefighter added another layer to his diverse career, where he used his communication skills to educate and train others, proving that his voice could save lives in more ways than one.
In 2011, his passion for broadcasting was reignited at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, where he discovered the world of voiceovers. His journey into podcasting, particularly with MMA Mayhem Radio, showcased his talent for live interviews and content creation, earning him the title of Critics' and Fans' Choice for MMA Journalist of the Year in 2013 by GeorgiaFighters.com.

Everett’s advice and quote from his Great Grandmother who lived to be 100 years old is “Don’t take any wooden nickels!" In other words, be careful who you trust.

Welcome to another episode of Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and I’m thrilled to have you with us today.
I love that podcasting gives me the excuse to hang out with, laugh with, and be inspired by people who uplift me—many of whom I’m lucky enough to call friends. Today’s guest fits that description perfectly! We first crossed
paths a few years ago at a Teach-a-thon in NYC, and from that moment, I knew there was something special about him. He has a rare gift for truly seeing people, almost as if he can look right into your soul.
Now, even though he's been soaking up the sunshine in LA for quite some time, don’t be fooled—he’s a true New Yorker at heart. That no-nonsense, direct, and truthful attitude? That’s what connects us so well. He tells it
like it is, with no sugar-coating. Sure, his straightforwardness might intimidate some, but trust me, underneath it all, he’s got a heart of gold.
Before we kick things off, I’d love to tell you a little bit about him.
His personal journey began in the Big Apple, took him to
Georgia where he graduated from Clark Atlanta University, and then led him to Los Angeles, where he has been working in the voice-over industry for over
three decades. He has contributed to hit animated primetime shows including The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Men in Black, Jackie Chan Adventures, Hellboy, and
X-Men: Evolution, just to name a few. He has also collaborated with animation industry giants such as Disney and Columbia Tri-Star.
One of the most valuable experiences that he brings to the
table is his time as a booth director for an LA-based talent agency.
Whether you’re new to voice acting, in the middle of your
journey, or a seasoned pro, he’s got what it takes to move you to the next level or keep you at the top. His no-nonsense, straightforward approach to coaching and teaching keeps you grounded, keeps you real, and keeps you true to who you are.
Without further ado, let’s welcome my no-nonsense,
straightforward, and intensely real friend—voice acting director, animation coach, demo director, and so much more—the one and only Everett Oliver!

Welcome back to Time to Elevate Podcast! I’m your host, Ann Lucente.
Today’s episode is particularly special because I’m introducing someone who’s not only incredibly talented but also holds a very dear place in my heart. My nickname
for her is Petunia. I don’t know when or why I started calling her that, but it always felt right. So, I decided to look up the meaning of Petunia and found that this is no coincidence.
Petunias signify perseverance and hope. They are the floral embodiment of an unwavering spirit, often shared as tokens of kindness to new neighbors or friends.
Much like the flower she’s nicknamed after, she has always been a symbol of perseverance and hope. From a young age, her unwavering spirit and determination was evident, whether she was singing, acting, or simply enjoying the company of friends and family.
Before I bring her on, let me tell you a little about her:
She is an aspiring actress originally from upstate NY. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, she honed her craft in theatre performance and discovered a love for behind the scenes work as well. While she has a great love and respect for the theatre, she is currently focusing on film acting.
Having recently relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, she is embracing the vibrant arts scene of her new city while continuing to pursue her acting career with enthusiasm and commitment. She is excited to continue working towards her future in the film industry and hopes to become involved in all aspects from acting to directing to filmmaking.
Today, I’m thrilled to welcome Actor, Director, Filmmaker and best of all my sweet Petunia, my daughter, Julia Rose Purdy!

If you know me, you know I'm all about celebrating life's journey and the incredible people I meet along the way. While our paths may be unique, we're all on a quest for our dreams, and the beauty lies in how we can elevate and inspire each other along the way.
I’m thrilled to introduce someone truly special today. While I can't recall the exact moment our paths
first crossed, I can confidently say it was meant to be. Since then, I am truly grateful for every conversation and the wisdom she shares. Over time, our interactions have woven into a beautiful tapestry of shared experiences. In
preparing for today, I delved into her journey and discovered so many remarkable facets of her life. I know you’ll find her journey as inspiring as I have, and I’m so excited for you to hear from her directly.
But before we jump in, let me share a bit about her.
She has been a voice actor since 2007 and has worked with clients from major brands all over the world including Dell, BBVA & Kraft. She is also a singer - and in 2015, she put out her own album of jazz, blues and traditional tunes. She says that over the years, she’s learned a lot about sound and how it influences people.
She also hosts and produces her own podcast on this subject called Audio Branding: The hidden gem of marketing.
She loves to give value to the audience in the form of advice about how to make an impact with sound, how to get into and be successful in voice overs, and how to
work as a solopreneur in this very busy, overwhelming world. She was an early adopter of the Internet (she had a songwriting resource on the web called The Muse’s Muse from 1995 – 2016) and worked in SEO and Internet Marketing up until she switched her focus to voiceovers in 2007.
She is also an unapologetic media geek and D&D player – for those non-gamers
listening, like myself, that stands for Dungeons and Dragons (She says that D&D is great for improv and learning team dynamics). Without any further ado - Let's jump into the conversation with my special guest, Singer/songwriter, voice talent, podcast producer and host, my friend Jodi Krangle!

“Don’t sweat the small stuff" 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, some that can be very scary and very uncertain. Out of those moments, you can find renewed strength and a profound appreciation for life.
Today, I have the privilege of interviewing three remarkable individuals whose lives intersected as a result of one of those unexpected turns.
Dave Gray is a lifetime resident and native of East Greenbush, N.Y., where he and Cathy, his wife of 44 years built their own home. They have two children, Jodi and Matt; and three grandchildren, Jesse, Lucy and Casey. He is an avid camper, fisherman and hunter and an enthusiastic hobbyist, raising bees; harvesting honey and maple syrup; canning jellies, jams, pickles, salsa, tomatoes, chili sauce; and making his own beer, wine, balsamic vinegar, horseradish, and lip balm.
In 2015, he was struck by viral cardiomyopathy, which compromised his heart, and he was told he would need to be evaluated for heart transplant. Dave was accepted and placed on the organ recipient registry on Dec. 4, 2015, and received a left ventricular assist device, or LVAD, a surgically implanted mechanical heart pump, in March of 2016.
On Aug. 20, 2016, after a year-long battle that included 177 days in the hospital, Dave received his life-saving gift of life: a new heart from a 30-year-old organ donor. Since that time, Dave has been a devoted organ and transplant advocate, raising awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation, and supporting patients anxiously waiting for a transplant or who are going through the donation/recipient process.
Now focusing on his volunteer activities on organ and tissue donation and patient care, Dave is active throughout New York State, traveling to Westchester Medical Center visiting patients and advocating for them on the patient family council.
Dave has organized multiple donor family and recipient meetings. Most memorable to date was introducing a donor mom to her daughter’s heart recipient in 2022.
Dave is truly a man with heart; committed to giving back for his gifts and ensuring others can receive the gift of life as well.
Laura Fisette is the Senior Hospital and Community Services Specialist at the Center for Donation & Transplant in Albany, NY. Her current position has been the most rewarding of her career. She proudly tells everyone at CDT – “We save and enhance lives every day. It doesn’t get better than this!”
The Donate Life Legacy Walk is their largest event bringing in close to 400 people. The event honors donor heroes who gave the gift of life. In attendance are donor families, recipients of these gifts, those who are still waiting for a lifesaving transplant and hospital and community partners. Register Here
And finally, someone you might recognize, especially if you've listened to my previous episode – Lorenzo Beronilla. When I spoke with Lorenzo after his heart transplant, I inquired about his future plans, and he jokingly mentioned participating in a 5k. Well, they say be careful what you wish for, or perhaps it's true that if you ask, you shall receive.
During his wait for a heart transplant at Westchester Medical Center, Lorenzo crossed paths with Dave. Now, following his transplant, Lorenzo has been asked to be the MC at the DonateLifeLegacy Walk this fall, where he will also join in by walking a 5K.
