Onto music news on this day In 2001 Kim Gardner former bassist with Ashton Gardner & Dyke died of Cancer. Had the 1971 UK No.3 single 'The Resurrection Shuffle' and Gardner formed 60s band The Birds with guitarist Ronnie Wood.
2006 Taylor Swift released her self-titled debut studio album. Swift was 16 years old at the time of the album's release and the album went on the top the Country Albums Chart for 24 non-consecutive weeks selling over seven million copies. The album also became the longest-charting album on the Billboard 200 of the 2000s decade, remaining on the chart for 277 weeks in total.

Birdhill Motorway Developments Ltd was granted planning permission by North Tipperary County Council to construct a motorway service.
2012 - THURLES Sarsfields won their third County senior hurling title in four years at Semple Stadium. They staved off a stern challenge from holders Drom-lnch to capture their 32nd crown as Padraic Maher lifted the cup to thousands in attendance

2004 - The theft of several boats and outboard engines from a number of shoreside locations around Lough Derg in Clare and north Tipperary was investigated by gardai. Up to six boats and fourteen outboard engines went missing sparking concern by anglers and boat owner around the Shannon's largest lake. Fishing gear stored in boal sheds has also gone missing.
2012 - The first ever defibrillator was installed at Liberty Square in the Arch Bar, following an initiative by Pat Hayes (Jnr) to provide the life-saving machine. The proceeds from the well-known local hostelry's Christmas Draw 2011 have been put to good use.

1977: Nealry 400 employees of Roches Stores in Henry street dublin were laid off last night and the store will be closed due to continuing unofficial strike of about 100 other workers there.
1988: Post primary school holidays are facing holiday cuts as as they are expected to be reviewed in forthcoming negotiations between the government, teacher unions and managers.
2009 - A young woman who was abusive to a garda after she drank up to ten glasses of vodka was ordered to sign up for courses to help her control her anger and her use of alcohol – and save money for her local social services group. The incident took place on a street in Templemore.
2010 - Tipperary GAA Board launched an investigation into ugly scenes that developed on the pitch after a "dramatic county senior hurling semi-final between county Champions Thurles Sarsfields and Toomevara. A row developed close to the middle of the field involving a number of individuals, and it appeared one spectator was knocked to the ground.

1978: the survivors and relatives of 2 killed members of the Miami Showband were granted £37,816.74 compensation.
2006: Taxpayers will have to fork out at least €1.4bn to pay for the metro to dublin airport.
2007 - Over 50 staff at Nenagh Hospital looked set to lose their jobs in a severe budget-balancing move by management of the National Health Executive. HSE management revealed that the hospital has overshot its maximum staff numbers by 53 and a projected €2.9 million overshoot in the hospital budget will be tackled by the removal of unapproved staff.
2012 - THE six Town Councils in County Tipperary were to be abolished along with Clonmel Borough Council in the most radical shakeup to the local authority system in Ireland, with the Premier County to suffer more than most at the hands of Environment Minister Phil Hogan. 78 public representatives, 2 in every 3 of those in Tipp would be lost to the county in the move, which has been criticised as a cost-saving, rather than reforming, measure.

This week we look back on an intermediate county final win for Thurles Sarsfields in the Intermediate Grade. Commercials advanced to the Senior Final with a hard fought win over Upperchurch. The County Intermediate camogie final took place at the weekend and Ger Kinane reports on that action. AIL Rugby with John Long of Nenagh Ormond as well as a TSDL review with Barry and a Breeders Cup Review from David Byrnes rounds off another busy Extra Time. We hope you like...
