In this episode, we’ll dig into how women can play the corporate game better, leverage our natural abilities and strengths, and use them to our advantage. Plus, we’ll get my guest’s perspective on leadership, and how women have levers they may not pull.My guest is Rochelle Janssens from Brisbane, Australia. Rochelle works with quietly determined career women ready to move into their first or next leadership role so they can make a bigger difference in the corporate game.Becoming a leader as a woman is often a different journey than for men, and Rochelle believes it helps to know the current rules of the game, so we can use them to our advantage and eventually be in a position to change the practices to benefit everyone. Her experience has taught her that leadership is about who you are being, not what you are doing, so she works with her clients to become a leader from the inside out. As a result, rather than being overworked and overwhelmed, her clients shine as their best selves, attracting the right people and opportunities without the crazy hours and elevated stress levels. If you enjoy this episode and our discussion about playing the corporate game, please give it some love by commenting, sharing a review, or using the five-star rating where available. Do you attach who you are to what you do for a living? When I was laid off from my last corporate gig, I didn’t know who I was for a while because I was no longer a team leader.Sometimes we need to start over and reinvent ourselves. And many women ask, “who am I now that things have changed?” So, I invited my guest to share her story with you.Avery Thatcher is CEO and founder of the Inner Stillness Outer Chaos Podcast and the Flow State Membership. When she started her career as a Registered Nurse working in ICU, she noticed that many patients were there because of illnesses and diseases linked to chronic stress.Starting over, she got out of the reactive side of medicine and started helping highly sensitive high achievers prevent burnout and reverse the adverse health effects of stress. After experiencing a significant health challenge in 2018, Avery had to learn to redefine her identity and grieve the loss of who she used to be.I thought hearing this story of starting over alongside her tips might help some of you.If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe to the podcast, and give it some love by commenting, sharing a review, or using the five-star rating where available. This episode is a bit of a departure from our typical conversations about career transition, but we’re going to weave a thread for you to follow and bring you back to it.So, let me ask you a question: what would you do if you felt left out and left behind—like a misfit? My guest felt those things so powerfully that she became radically inclusive and found herself always seeking common ground.Nisha Anand is a boundary-buster, common ground creator, and national leader for social and racial justice. Her TED Talk, The Radical Act of Choosing Common Ground, was viewed over one million times in the run-up to the divisive 2020 election. And this election season is no different.Nisha is known today as a leader in cultivating unlikely and unconventional partnerships to create change. She now pushes change-makers to dream bigger, design more inclusive movements, and experiment at scale. As Dream Corps’ CEO, Nisha guides a team of storytellers, organizers, and policy experts working at the intersections of criminal justice reform, green economics, and tech equity to create a better future for all.I want to bring Nisha’s vision to you because we can all use personal and professional encouragement to dream bigger, be more inclusive, and find common ground. If you enjoy this episode, please give it some love by commenting, sharing a review, or using the five-star rating where available.
