Quick many of you were snacking when you played this podcast? (Not you, Jeffrey Dahmer...) Junk food-we either love it, or we try our best to stay away from it. Whatever side of the fence you are on, JP's podcast is worth a listen. Granted, he might be one of the newer junk food podcasts, but my hunting has shown that there aren't too many current junk food pods out here in Podcastia. Plus, the guy let me show my hip hop style! (Okay, I confess-just looking to place some blame somewhere.) So glad he didn't allow me to breakdance or throw my hands in the air and wave 'em like I just don't care. Anyway, it was great talking with him, and I wish him well with this interesting new venture. Anything involving ketchup always gets my vote!JP's info: Podcast: Junk Foodies; email:; Twitter/Facebook :Junk_Foodies_ PodJP's picks: WTF with Marc Maron, The Moment; Stuff You Should Know (also a Sherpa pick); Unspooled; Revisionist History;Radiotopia; Dough BoysHere's the link to the How Stuff Works article: How Junk Food Works by Jack Roos's it for this week's Sherpa Sheet. Thanks for taking the show past 1000 listens. If you're willing to hear more, I'm more than willing to make more! Next week's theme...Happiness! (Which may or may not involve ketchup) We'll be with Dr. Lindsay Kallen Weisner of Neurotic Nourishment. What a great time we had!  A little bit of a change-up this week, but don't worry, my supply of bad jokes for the podcast is untouched. It's okay to discuss grief on a podcast that has a tendency to get silly on occasion, and Lisa Joy was the right person for this discussion. You'd think that a podcast with the word "Widow" in the title wouldn't raise your spirits, but for this show, you'd be wrong.  You can tell how her family has pulled together in a time of tragedy, and provides not only support for one another, but support for the listeners of her program.  My advice to you? Learn to be a "joyster", even though it's not always the easiest thing in the world. You'll see how Lisa is in touch with her spiritual side sand how it brings her comfort in the time of her husband Doug's passing. Although I never knew him, I'm sure Doug was a lucky man to have lived the life he did, and others are lucky to have remembered his impact on them as well. I'm guessing when I get called to that big Podcastia in the sky, peoples' fondest memory of me will be "So glad he finally learned to eat using utensils." LL Cool J  once rapped,"'Don't call it a comeback..." , but we all have those moments we need to bounce back from. Failures, breakups, scandals, maybe bigger, or smaller. (But enough about my afternoon in the Piggly Wiggly). I can count on my hand the number of podcasters who were run over by a bus, were told they would never walk again, and then ended up running marathons. That count is "one", as in the one and only Howie Kra. If you find nothing inspiring about his story, maybe you need to look up the word "inspiring" again. Thanks to his wonderful assistant Amber, I got to talk to him firsthand. Ex-Wall Street guy, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, father..he's had his shares of highs and lows, but ;ike he says, be accountable and just show up, if you want to get over the hurdles you may encounter. I'm looking forward to him getting a TED talk. Most of you know your Podcast Sherpa, and you know there's nothing like a unique podcast to catch his ear. And boy, did I find one! Enter Scott Johnson, computer expert, to fry our circuit boards! (Hey, YOU try to come up with a clever computer analogy.) What Was That Like is all at once gritty, funny, twisted, and very real. Kind of like a breakfast at IHOP. Oh wait, I better not discuss meals, given one of the podcast episodes we discuss! Let's just focus on the lady who married a wrong number, shall we? Check out his show. It's the slice of life that gets left in the back of the fridge...oh wait, there I go again, discussing food! My first listener-requested show! Always glad to help you out there in the listening world. When I told Ryan how hard it was to find a financial planner with a podcast, his reply was "There are four of us." And what an incredible help he was...I wonder if the other 3 even know about the Sherpa Chalet? It's great to listen to a finance guy who can put things in easy-to-understand terminology, and not get lost in a sea of acronyms (which is worse than being in an ocean of lotion.) Ryan helped to provide the basics of what we need to do to not let our finances get out of control. Keep in mind that in many instances, certain plans may work more accordingly for some than others. But, like he says, make sure you do your homework before investing large amounts of money into anything.Ryan's Info: Website:; Podcast: Financial Residency. Okay, Joe Rogan, do I have your attention? This is a guest you need for your show. Father of 4 talented daughters, novelist, martial artist, and host of his own MMA podcast. I'd say he checks all the boxes! Marc's always a lot of fun to talk to, and it was nice of him to make time for an interview even after getting back from a meet the teacher night at his daughters' school. (Hopefully, I'm not failing science...again...) You'll learn about the history of MMA, and some of Marc's most interesting guests. Also, which fighters should you keep an eye out long as they won't knock your teeth out? Aso, hear about what movies inspired Marc's writing? Welcome to another season of the Sherpa Sheet! I'll start by stating that i keep a mental list of some of the topics that I'd like to cover. As long as there are good podcasts about the topics where I can learn, then I'm sold. Take Buddhism, for example. It's always something that I've never really understood. Enter Jim Martin to solve that problem! Obviously, you can't learn every last thing about it in the span of a half hour, but Jim really helped me to understand the important elements of Buddhism. (A lot of his shows cover meditation, so if Buddhism doesn't fascinate you, you can still learn how to relax your mind and find inner peace.) Since the closest way I'll ever get to Nirvana is by listening to a 90's grunge playlist (Kids, just ask your parents to explain) I'd just like to say "thanks so much" to Jim. Who would have thought my Season 1 finale would end up with a true crime podcast? Some say in Podcastia, you could find a true crime podcast just by swinging a dead, uh, body. But Korina and Dillon provide a nice, compact, well-researched, daily dose of evil and mayhem, which makes this podcast a standout. Plus, they were fun to speak with!. So cool to see a married couple that can pool their talents together and make it work in a podcast. Hey, I do my show solo, and I probably argue with myself more than I've chosen to admit this season! I may need my lawyer, Dirty Louie, to arbitrate if it gets worse.. Plus!  Which is trickier for Korina- researching Jack the Ripper victims, or getting their son to take a nap? .Would a D&D serial killer pique Dillon's interest?Places for killers to hide(or not) in Tennessee! True story- I had initially contacted another psychic for an interview about the psychic world, but they unfortunately never responded to my request. To that person, I offer a hearty "Thank you", because instead, I got to speak with Samantha Jones of "Spiritual Philos-O-Chatter with the Joneses"!!! So that person's lost opportunity was a victory for me as a podcaster. And how lucky was i? Samantha told me beforehand that she knew that psychic ability could be controversial to talk about, but my intent was to learn about the process, and not debate. I don't think anyone else could have provided an understanding of the psychic process better than Samantha.  Her interview definitely provided a new appreciation of something that I'm now a lot less skeptical about. Thanks, Samantha!! (Unfortunately, her husband Danny, who is her co-host, was unable to sit in for the interview, but the Sherpa Chalet says "thank you" to him as well.) Also! The spirit world-Hoobastank connection! Science vs. Psychics! Intuition rules the radio!
