Did God *really* say He’d use all things for His glory + your good? Doesn’t look that good to me...
Did He *really* say peace is possible? I wouldn’t hold your breath...
Did God *really* say He’d never leave you? Well then... where is He?
And did God *really* say He’d give you rest? Because (no offense) you look pretty tired + defeated to me...
Bottom line: Our enemy is out to kill our peace, destroy our faith, and steal our hope. How? By planting lies in our minds in hopes we take the bait.
Good news for us though: Jesus came to set us free, and ”if we abide in His Word, we’ll know the truth + the truth will set us free” (John 8:32).This is the show for you if you’re ready to pick up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and stand firm in the truth, defusing every fiery dart and seizing that abundant life Jesus always gives.

Ever been told to “look within” to discover who you really are? Maybe it came in the form of self-help advice, motivational quotes, or even well-meaning encouragement. But here’s the problem: when we look inward for identity, we buy into the very lie keeping us lost.
On this episode of Trade a Lie for a Truth, join Heidi Lee Anderson and Alena Pitts Franklin (actress, vocalist, and author of the devotional God Is) to uncover together the cultural lie that identity starts within... and exchange it for the life-giving truth: before we can know who we are, we must first know who God is.
✨ What you’ll discover in this episode:
➖Why the “search within” advice always leaves us empty
➖How Alena personally wrestled with identity and found freedom in Christ ➖The role honesty plays in reshaping our view of God and ourselves ➖How God’s unchanging character transforms our perspective on purpose, talents, and even past mistakes 📖 Scripture Highlight: Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ever picked up the Bible and thought, “Agh, this is so dry”? You try to read, but the words don’t seem to connect, some parts are confusing, and discouragement creeps in. Why (and how) does it come alive for others? You’re not alone.
Join this conversation with Gretchen Saffles, founder of Well-Watered Women, as we tackle this lie that “the Bible is dry.” We’ll talk about the claim from unbelievers that Scripture is outdated or dull, and also for believers, who truly long to know God’s Word, Gretchen gives her tangible, practical, go-to tools that can help you stay engaged when the struggle is real.
Together, let’s trade the lie for the truth: God’s Word isn’t dull, uninteresting, irrelevant, but alive, active, rich, and full of life. Listen in to discover encouragement, practical wisdom, and renewed hope for opening your Bible with fresh eyes.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
Why we sometimes feel like Scripture is dry
How to approach God’s Word when you’re in a spiritually dry season
The truth about the Bible as living and active
Encouragement to engage with Scripture in a fresh, life-giving way

You know those warnings that go off in our mind?
“You better prepare for the worst.”
“You can’t trust people — you’ve been hurt before.”
“God might not come through this time.”
“Play it safe. Don’t risk it.”
It sounds like wisdom. It feels like caution. But underneath, it’s fear. And fear is not the fruit of a good counselor — it’s the evidence of a liar.
Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind. That means anytime fear is steering the ship, God isn’t the one driving.
The enemy loves to masquerade as someone looking out for you. He’ll disguise fear as foresight. He’ll present anxiety as “being realistic.” But he’s not protecting you — he’s paralyzing you. Why? Because fear shrinks your faith. It keeps you stuck. It puts you in self-preservation mode instead of God-trust mode.
So today, how about you join Susie Larson and me in trading that lie — the enemy’s warnings are worth listening to — for this truth: God alone gives wise counsel, and His perfect love casts out fear?
Susie Larson is a bestselling author, national speaker, and host of the popular radio show Susie Larson Live, and her book, Closer Than Your Next Breath was a finalist for the ECPA book of the year in 2024. More at https://www.susielarson.com.

Have you ever believed the lie that it’s too late? Too late to change careers, too late to repair a relationship, too late to step into your calling, or too late even to return to God? The enemy loves to whisper, “You’ve missed your chance. The door is closed. The opportunity wasted. It’s all downhill from here. Your story is over.”
Good news: the Word of God tells us something very different.
Join me as I chat with Sarah Molitor @modernfarmhousefamily, who opens up about a time she took a big risk and in turn, fell behind compared to friends... and what came of that. (Spoiler: She met her husband + God proved once again, with Him, it's never really too late.)

Marriage is supposed to make us happy, right? I mean, that's what we've been sold: the perfect spouse, the fairytale wedding, the happily ever after. It sounds good, right? But what happens when life doesn't follow the script? When your spouse disappoints you, says things that kind of make you mad, or just doesn't complete you like rom-coms promise?
Suddenly that belief that marriage is here to make us happy, it starts to feel less like a dream and more like a setup... a setup for bitterness, for disappointment, maybe even walking away. So today we are trading that lie for a truth that is harder, but it is better because what if marriage wasn't meant to complete you, but to grow you, to make you more like Christ?
Join my husband and me as we chat with Ryan and Allie Lundeen @proverbsthirtyonegirl for an exclusive true confessions interview talking about how God confirmed “this is who you're gonna marry,” counter-cultural ideas of marriage, and personal stories we didn't even know we'd share.😂

Ever feel like life just keeps knocking you down? No matter how hard you fight, no matter how much you pray, you just can’t seem to win? Have you ever wondered why the battles feel so constant, or caught yourself thinking, ‘I’ll never get past this struggle’? Maybe you’ve questioned if you’ll ever feel strong or free again.
But what if defeat isn’t your story at all? What if it’s just the enemy’s script—and God has already written a different one? Today, we’re trading the lie of ‘I feel defeated’ for the truth: ‘I am victorious in Christ.’
Join me in this episode of my podcast Trade a Lie for a Truth, as I open up about my personal journey as a cancer survivor and emphasize the importance of recognizing our giants against the scope of our great God. Ultimately, I talk about how God helped me overcome this giant of fear and ultimately, why He allows trials in the first place. Together, let’s actively seize the abundant life promised in Christ and move forward in His victory.
Takeaways:
Life can feel overwhelming, but as Christians, defeat isn't our story.
We think thousands of thoughts daily, many are negative, but we can trade them for the truth.
Every trial is a test of faith, set up for our victory.
God's promises are fulfilled in Christ, and it’s time to live in them.
We cannot wait for problems to disappear to find happiness. Jesus offers the free, abundant life in Him today.
Possession of God's promises requires action and faith.

To fight the lies found in every comparison trap, we need to uncover 2️⃣ truths: who we are in God and the reality of every person we're comparing ourselves to.
Join Crystal and I as we root out our identity in Christ, uncover how to (practically) find worth in God alone, and recognize and embrace our unique gifts and talents to live in the fulfillment that can only come from our God-given purpose.
In the end, let's trade this lie for the truth: I am a sinner saved by grace, who falls short, yes... yet even still, now in Christ, I am complete.

When bad news comes, curveballs are thrown + the trajectory looks worse...where's God? We know He could do something, so then why hasn't He? Why isn't He?

In the end, let's trade this lie for the truth: Even if things look bad, God is still very good.
Every generation has wondered about the end times—but with constant headlines, global instability, wars, and the rise of AI, it feels more real than ever. Underneath the question “Is this it?” lies a deeper fear many believers quietly carry: The end times are something to fear.
In this episode, I sit down with apologist and Pastor Jason Carlson to unpack your biggest questions about Israel, prophecy, global conflict, technology, and how believers can live ready—not scared. God’s plan for the end of the story isn’t meant to alarm us, but anchor us.
If you’ve ever felt anxious about the future or confused by what’s happening in the world, this conversation will give you clarity, confidence, and hope.
What We Cover:
-Are we actually living in the end times?
-What the Bible does and does not say about Israel
-How to interpret “wars and rumors of wars”
-Should Christians be afraid of AI?
-Why fear is not God’s intention for His people
-What it means to “live ready” with hope
-The promise behind God’s final plan

Our culture these days is obsessed with identity — how we define ourselves, express ourselves, and justify our choices. But sometimes what sounds like freedom, “God made me this way," is actually a lie that keeps us from living the way He designed us... to glorify Him.
Join Heidi Lee Anderson as she sits down with Amy Davison, co-host of the @MamaBearApologetics Podcast, to talk about how this subtle cultural lie is a dangerous one! Not only does Amy share her own story, but she also breaks down why identity is one of the biggest battlegrounds in today’s culture and how to lovingly engage others who might see things differently.
Together, let’s unpack how Christians can root their identity (and their kid’s identity) in Christ—not in their preferences, feelings, or desires. Whether you’re a parent, pastor, or someone wrestling with purpose, let's look beyond “who I am” and rediscover Whose you are.
🧠 Topics We Cover
• Why “God made me this way” sounds biblical—but isn’t
• How identity influences behavior and spiritual growth
• Teaching kids to know who they are in Christ
• Responding with both truth and grace in today’s cultural conversations
• How to balance desires with God’s design

Ever feel like you're living in a world you just can’t relate to anymore? Where prayer has been traded for good vibes, what’s wrong is celebrated as if it’s right, “live your truth” has replaced the truth, and “follow your heart” gets louder applause than following Jesus?
Join me as I sit down with Marian Jordan Ellis, author of the new Lifeway Women’s study Anchored, to expose the tricky lie of “I just can’t relate to this world anymore,” and instead of a bad thing, we’ll find how it’s not only a very good thing, but it’s the very place God positioned us on purpose to shine bright for Him.
All in all, if you’ve ever felt like a spiritual fish out of water — this one’s for you. Together, let’s step forward into the truth that we’re not alone, our God’s not irrelevant, and we’re definitely not without purpose in this post-Christian world.

Have you ever caught yourself shrinking back—unsure if your voice, gifts, or calling mattered as much as the guys around you? Maybe you’ve played small in ministry because you didn’t want to come off as too much. Or wondered if being “quiet” and “safe” was your lane because you’re a woman?
Whew. You’re not alone.
In this episode, we’re trading one of the oldest lies in the book—the idea that women are somehow less in value, voice, or calling—for the truth that God never said that. From Genesis to Jesus, we’ll trace God’s heart toward His daughters and see that His design has always been equal in worth and distinct in role—image-bearers, co-laborers, and essential to the body of Christ.
To help unpack this, Heidi’s joined by two powerhouse Bible teachers and authors, Jami Nato (This Must Be the Place) and Amy Seiffert (Your Name Is Daughter).
Together, the three dive into:
✨ What the Bible actually says about women starting in the beginning of Genesis
✨ How Jesus treated women—and what that reveals about God’s heart
✨ How to confidently live as a daughter of God while linking arms with His sons
This isn’t a feminist rant or a man-bashing session. It’s a freeing conversation about God’s good design for both women and men—and how the enemy’s been twisting it for far too long. Grab your coffee, your Bible, and maybe your best girlfriend—because today, we’re trading the lie of “less than” for the truth of who God says you are.

✨ Highlights & Quotes:
“The enemy loves to whisper that God’s silence means absence — but that’s never been true.”
“Stories can be powerful tools to uncover the lies we believe and remind us of what’s unshakably true.”
“God’s character doesn’t change with our circumstances — and that’s where our peace comes from.”
Ever felt like deep Bible study is only for pastors, church leaders, Christian influencers, or scholars full of commentaries and Hebrew concordances? I mean, they have degrees in that stuff. They’re trained in theology. They just GET the Bible in a way ordinary Christians don’t. But... me? I’m just normal. I love Jesus and I believe the Bible is God’s very Word that I respect and honor, but I didn’t go to seminary, I’m not bilingual, and I wouldn’t even know where to start.
Join Kristin Nave and podcast host Heidi Lee Anderson to dismantle the lie that deep Bible study is just for experts. They share honest stories, relatable struggles, and practical ways to approach Scripture--with or without a seminary degree.
You’ll hear:
Why Bible study is for every believer—not just the “professionals”
Deep study doesn't always mean complex methods
Highlighting and journaling can enhance Bible study
The role community plays in understanding Scripture
Simple, doable tips for studying the Bible with confidence
How God’s mercy meets us right where we are—not where we think we “should” be
Kristin reminds us that God’s Word was never meant to be locked behind titles, training, or theology degrees. This episode is a gentle but powerful invitation to open your Bible with curiosity, freedom, and expectation.
Whether you’re brand new to Scripture or returning after feeling disqualified, this conversation will remind you: you are invited to the table.

Ever tried juggling all the things?
Work, mom life, extracurricular activities? Clean house, toned body, healthy meals? Volunteering at church, keeping up with the yard, staying on top of emails, meeting up with friends, and organizing the toys? Not to mention, reading your Bible and being a loving, attentive wife?
Join me as I pull back the curtain of my life and share a behind-the-scenes look into what God is actively teaching me and I believe has for me in this next season ahead. While it’s tempting to want to do it all, the truth is freeing: we are limited human beings with time constraints and physical limitations, so we can’t do it all—and even better… we shouldn’t do it all.
In the end, we can trade that crippling lie (you can do it all) for the truth: There are some things in this season that need our focus, so there are some things in this season we can step away from.
Sit in Ecclesiastes 3 with me, and together, let’s ask God and find out for ourselves what should be our top priority in this current season of life.

Have you ever heard someone say, "God won't give you more than you can handle"?
But then life happens, and you do face more than you can handle. There's a diagnosis that's far bigger than you. Bills that seem insurmountable. Your child’s challenges that are far out of your control. The strains in your marriage, well… it's all requiring a lot more from you than you feel like you have left in you.
Today, we're going to talk to someone who gets it. Elle Cardell, founder of Delight of Delight, is going to share more about her story and help us trade this lie for the freeing truth.
God may give you more than you handle—but it’s never more than He can.

Ever felt like you don't belong?
Maybe it’s because you homeschool and everyone else sends their kid to public. Or you moved, and while everyone else has their people, you have to start fresh with all strangers. Or maybe it’s in your job—you’re a Christian and everyone else… let’s just say doesn’t show the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Whatever it may be, we’ve got to tackle this lie, because because God has gone to great lengths to give you a place of belonging.
Join me as I interview my friend Caroline Saunders, author of her latest Bible Study Come Home as we trade this lie "I don't belong" for the truth "I belong in Christ and in the Church."

Conflict and peace... they seem like polar opposites, right? You certainly can’t have one with the other…
Or can you?
Join me as I interview Donna Jones, author of Healthy Conflict, Peaceful Life, as we open up the Bible, hear what God has to say on the matter, and discuss the practical steps clearly laid out for us in places like James and Ephesians. Not only will we realize how peace can still reign, but Donna shares conflict prevention tips, anger management tools when you’re caught up in the heat of it all, and lastly, the best step to take if you want to move a tumultuous relationship towards peace and health today.
In the end, let’s trade this lie for the truth: Conflict can be peaceful and healthy if I follow Jesus and the path laid out in His Word.
