Our third guest is Dr. Rhian-Mari Thomas, sharing her insights in epsidoe 3; “I talk very purposefully about finance being the facilitator of the transition, because policy is the enabler… the transition will be shaped by policies, but it will be driven by corporates.” Dr Thomas is the Chief Executive of the Green Finance Institute, an independent, commercially focused organisation seed funded by the UK Government. She spent 20 years in investment banking and corporate finance and was the first person to be awarded an OBE for services to green banking. She is an emeritus member of TCFD and co-chaired the launch of the TNFD, to which she remains an advisor. Dr Thomas sits on numerous advisory groups across UK Government, as well as the World Economic Forum’s Clean Energy Financing steering committee and co-chairs the leadership council for Snowball Impact Investments. She is also a Trustee of the World Wildlife Fund UK.
