This week we’re discussing crime news. Laura brings the topic of police shootings in Finland; Petra brings a case of bodies being found in a freezer in Turku; and Viktória brings the breaking news (at least when this is recorded) about the “Yogurt Shop Murders” being solved after 34 years!
Petra is back this week! She brings us a 1990's case where a a woman goes to a shooting range in the center of Helsinki, and she ends up killing three people. We discuss topics such as mental health, and gun safety. Listen along, and let us know what you think.
This week Viktória brings a case from France, where four bodies are found in the Seine. Laura brings a case of a cop killer from the 90’s, and news of his latest parole hearing.
This week Laura covers a case that was covered in Finnish and English. When an American Football player flies from Finland back home to South Carolina, he is arrested on the charge of murder. The authorities don’t believe him when he says he’s innocent, and he spends 67 days behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit.
This episode is a bit mild, and it doesn’t even include murder! Viktória covers Hungary’s online aggression law, and Laura covers the arrest of a psychic and the uncovering of an astrology scam in New York State.
This week Viktória covers probably one of the worst cases yet. As promised in the early days of Translation Murder, Viktória said she would cover the panel building murders, and  honestly, I almost wish she hadn't, it’s bound leave you speechless, angry, sad, and disgusted. Listen along to hear about the Kohányi family tragedy.
At the top, we go on a food tangent. If EuroEast ever wants to sponsor us, and pay us with pickles, let us know. For the murder part, Petra covers the mysterious murder of the famous Japanese frtune teller Kototome Fjujita, and her son Goro Fujita. This is an odd case with a suspect found guilty in the American courts, but the person charged claims their innocence.
This News Tangent episode includes a case about domestic terrorism attack on firefighters in Idaho, real estate fraud in Hungary, and an update on the shooting in Northern Finland that Petra covered in Episode 51.
This week Laura covers important and timely topics such as racism, nationalism and horrible acts committed against people who are perceived to be different. Listen along to the horrible ideology of Peter Mangs and the acts he carried out.
This week Viktória covers a case from Százhalombatta, Hungary. This case involves one of the most brutal Hungarian serial killers, Lajos Balogh. Listen and get shocked along with us as Viktória tells us all the details of this case!
This week, Viktória and Laura stray from the usual translated cases, and cover the documentary "American Murder: Gabby Petito". Either watch the episode of American Murder before listening, or just listen along and enjoy the tangents.
This week, Petra covers a case in which an ex-boyfriend is caught fleeing from his ex-girlfriend's apartment. What her mother discovers inside the apartment is something that would turn anyone's stomach.
Before listening, we strongly recommend you watch the 4-part series “American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson” on Netflix. In this episode Viktória and Laura discuss the series, and things surrounding the O.J. trial.
During this episode we go on a tangent about OJ Simpson, Execution by firing squad, a murder in Northern Finland fuelled by a disagreement, and the latest scamming numbers from last year.
This week, Laura brings us a case from Sweden. She delves into the background of the infamous Lasermannen which covers topics of nationalism, and racism, much of which is still prevalent today.
This week Petra brings us a Finnish case involving domestic violence, and murder. Ismo Junni gets away with his wife's murder for years. That is, until Junni's son forces the authorities to reassess his mother's cause of death. The re-investigation then reveals Junni has murdered even more people than previously thought.
This week’s news tangent episode includes: a woman dies in a house fire in Hungary, but turns out there is a more nefarious cause to her death; A Finnish woman is killed, because she refuses to be a drug mule; Hundreds of people are freed from scam factories in Myanmar.
We're baaaaaaack! After a bit of a break, Viktória is bringing us a fascinating case of an alleged poisoner in Slovakia. With many people around her falling ill with suspicious symptoms, Teréz Gyönyör is suspected of attempted poisonings of those closest to her. Listen along for the full story.
Viktória covers the case of unintentional methanol poisoning in Laos. Petra covers an update of a Finnish murder case involving the murder of a postal worker in Myyrmäki. Laura covers the capture of a fugitive on the FBI’s most wanted list who was wanted after multiple bombings in California.
This week Laura covers a case taking place on the Swedish island of Gotland, in the town of Visby. Christina Olofsson was working as a night receptionist at Hotel Wisby, and is found dead on the morning of December 13th 1996. This is a cold case, but evidence found at the scene could very well solve this murder.
