It's funny to think that back in the 1980s, a leak of nude pictures could cause a headline-grabbing scandal, but that's exactly what happened to the first Black woman to ever wear the Miss America crown. Vanessa Williams, then 21, was roundly demonized in the press, and was subjected to intense public outrage for her supposed transgression. She was even forced to resign her crown, an overreaction that the pageant would apologize for decades later. Alicia has the whole sorry saga, and the powerful comeback story of one of the great talents in American entertainment - plus a couple of divorces! When a divorcing couple owns a business together, figuring out how to handle it can be a huge pain. Today's couple, while never married, were the engine behind the founding and growth of a wildly successful company. As their personal animosity toward each other grew over the years, the in-office acrimony between TransPerfect founders Philip Shawe and Elizabeth Elting became the stuff of legal legend in the Chancery Court of Delaware - and far beyond. The world was captivated by the saga of Princess Diana when she married and divorced Prince Charles, but it turns out that marital trouble is a bit of a family matter for the Spencers. Alicia has the details on Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, whose two divorces and other romantic misadventures stand out even among the notoriously randy aristocracy. Some stories shoot right past "trashy" and head straight for "disturbing," and that is the case of murdered socialite Barbara Daly Baekeland. Infidelity is bad enough, but to learn about your husband's infidelity from Us Weekly is a different level of bad. That's more or less the story of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville and her ex-husband, actor Eddie Cibrian, whose high-profile split sounds like it was a real doozy. Alicia has all the dirty details, including some of the more memorable turns of phrase from Brandi's 2013 memoir, Drinking & Tweeting. Sponsors Lomi by Pela. Today we wanted to give you a glimpse of Alicia's other podcast, Done & Dunne! She's been hard at work on a five-part series on Lord Lucan, which is now live. We covered the 1974 disappearance of Lord Lucan following the grisly murder of his children's nanny a couple of years ago, and in this bingeable five-parter, Alicia goes much, much deeper into the case. Enjoy part one - and grab the rest at Done & Dunne wherever you listen to podcasts! Welcome to Season 5 of Done & Dunne and our investigation into the mysterious vanishing of Richard John Bingham, the 7th Earl of Lucan, also known as Lucky. John Bingham certainly started life on a lucky streak. This episode delves into Lord Lucan’s background, including his family, early childhood, and meeting his future wife Veronica Duncan. We also introduce our wide cast of characters, all playing in the hot spot of swinging 1960s London, John Aspinall’s Clermont Club, and Mark Birley’s Annabel’s. Sponsors The Oak Tree Group. While she wasn't exactly a Desperate Housewife in real life, actress Eva Longaria did find herself dragged into an ugly scandal by her second husband, basketball player Tony Parker. It seems that Tony had been carrying on with the wife of one of his San Antonio Spurs teammates for quite a while, a decision that ruptured two marriages and nearly got him excommunicated from his team. There's some real truth to the maxim "Mo' money, mo' problems," and perhaps no former couple knows that better than hedge fund giant Steve A. Cohen and his first wife, Patricia. She was skeptical of his financial disclosures when they divorced at the end of the 1980s, but it was her 2009 lawsuit alleging racketeering and insider trading at his SAC Capital that seemed to kick federal regulators into high gear. Musician Kenny Rogers became a beloved pioneer of the "story song" - that took country music, and then many other charts, by storm in the late 70s and 80s. While he had massive success in music, television, and film, Alicia has all the details of his arguably less successful personal life, including five marriages, and difficult decisions around child custody. This week we've got a Patreon bonus episode for you! Alicia has turned her eyes to the successors of the Tudor reign - the Stuarts - but how does Elizabeth I's crown end up on the head of Scotland's James VI? The path was curvy and there were other contenders, but in the end, everyone's (least) favorite witch-obsessed Scottish King headed south to London! The Real Housewives franchise is a gift that keeps on giving, and this week, Stacie has the story of an OG cast member! Ramona Singer was in a happy, longstanding marriage when she joined the New York City edition back in 2008. Her husband, Mario, seems to have struggled with her successes - so much so that he blew up the marriage entirely. For decades, there was just one person that the world's most interesting people were desperate to sit down with: Barbara Walters. We love it when a divorce lives up to its "trashy" billing, and the 2017 end of former Senator Al D'Amato's second marriage certainly fits the bill. Closing out our season of Trashy Divorces All Stars and Hall of Famers, Alicia turns our attention to model and actress Jennifer O'Neill. Rising to fame in the 1960s, her life appeared charmed to many, but her eight divorces and a series of tragic incidents tell a far stranger story. Before anyone flips out on me, let me just say that I've been a very loyal Stevie fan since 1980. Pretty much worshipped her. In my History of Rock Music, I chose her for inspiration. However; when I listened to Ken Caillat's audiobook, "Making Rumors" I was heartbroken to learn that she told him she was putting a spell on his beloved dog and it subsequently died because she was pissed at Ken at the time.My hope is that she just said it in a drug-fueled moment. My dog got me through the roughest time in my life, and I can truthfully say, if not for her love and loyalty, I would not be alive today. So, it's fair to say that I'm an animal lover, especially dogs. Her shine has darkened a bit for me since then. Love you both, love the show! Love and light 💛...Lisa

I know a few people have bitched and moaned about this podcast being "man hating" and unfairly blaming the men as the cause of the divorces. Well, that's not the case for Cary Grant. Who can say anything bad about him? Certainly not me!
