The trade deadline of 2019 has come and gone, and it was a doozy. We're talking all the trades that happened and didn't happen. We first dish on what's to come next for Anthony Davis now that he's staying in New Orleans for a little while longer (2:00). Then we catch up on all the other major news and trades, including: Tobias Harris to the 76ers (18:25), Marc Gasol to the Raptors (25:40), Nikola Mirotic to the Bucks (28:55), Markelle Fultz to the Magic (37:50), Trent's reaction to breaking Woj news regarding Anthony Davis (42:45), revisiting the Kristaps Porzingis trade to the Mavericks and Harrison Barnes to the Kings (50:00), how the Lakers recover from a disappointing deadline day (1:00:50), the Rockets and the buyout market (1:11:20), and what we can expect around the league heading into the summer (1:13:35). Thanks for listening! Subscribe, share, and send us questions.
After a week off, we're back with a discussion about a plethora of basketball topics including the Spurs streak, Boogie's pending comeback and the Wolves firing Thibs. Enjoy!
We finally got the trio altogether in person to do a Best of 2018 Trolling the Paint episode! John, Will, and Trent dish on their favorite moments of 2018 and what they're looking forward to in 2019.
In this episode John, Will and Trent give each NBA team a totally not real and made up gift. Want to hear what we gave your favorite team? Well you should, because it just might make you laugh. Thanks for listening!
This year has been super weird in the NBA. It's just over 20 games in and we still can't tell who is legit or bound to regress. Regardless, we still have to give props to who has been playing well and condemn those who haven't. The gang discusses who their picks are for the NBA awards including executive, coach, rookie, MVP, and much more. As always, thanks for listening and please subscribe, share, and send us questions.
With John visiting his family for Turkey Day, Trent and Will are joined by The Atheltic's Dallas Maverick's beat writer Tim Cato. The three UNT alums talk Luka Mania, hack-a tactics and break down the top of the western conference.
Jimmy Butler is finally traded! Will is out with "illness," so John and Trent break down the trade and what it means for the Wolves, Sixers, and everyone involved (2:06). We also talk about the Spurs-Rockets game and try to make sense of the Rockets' recent struggles (24:15), including rumors of Carmelo Anthony's uncertain future with the team. After that, we ask if the Bucks' win over the Warriors is any indicator of them being a top Eastern Conference team (52:00). We also touch on the new slate of NBA "City Edition" jerseys (57:40), then we close out with reactions to Zion Williamson's debut for Duke and how unique of a prospect he is (1:08:38). As always, thanks for listening and feel free to subscribe and ask us questions.
Whoever bet 2 weeks into the season for the amount of time needed for Will and Trent to abandon the Rockets ship, congrats! Amid the recent suspensions and team adjustments for new players, the Rockets are re-engaging on a Jimmy Butler trade. We talk a bit more on other landing spots for Butler, as well as speculate where Kevin Durant may go next year. John talks a bit about attending the Spurs/Lakers game from Saturday night, and is Stephen Curry back in the MVP race? (Yes.) All that and more on this episode. Send us questions and comments. Thanks for listening.
Rondo and Paul had a scrap, the Rockets aren't playing defense and Nikola Mirotic is the best player in the NBA. We discuss and overreact to all this and more this week on the pod, plus Will makes fun of THAT laugh.
The NBA season is here, and we finally finished our NBA over/unders, this week tackling the Western Conference. All that and more Jimmy Butler talk, crazy predictions and a brief overview of the individual awards. As always, take a listen, send us questions/comments, and tune in again next week. Much appreciated. HAPPY NBA SEASON!
Training camp starts this week but it looks like we're going to have one more all-star move before the season starts! The gang goes over Jimmy Butler's trade request out of Minnesota, and then we follow it up by reviewing the offseason of the entire eastern conference and give our bets for the over/under win totals of each team. Take a listen, send us questions/comments, and tune in again next week. Much appreciated.
There should really be a song about the boys being back in town because John, Will, and Trent are recording again! The newly branded Trolling the Paint podcast trio looks back on what was a crazy offseason in the NBA. We hit LeBron, Kawhi, Carmelo, Paul George, and so much more. Keep an eye out for a new episode next week. Send us questions! Thanks for listening. Intro: Super Friends Beat by Nameles. https://m.soundcloud.com/erikfontanez
Welcome to Episode 19 of BBR! The 3-Man lineup is back in effect. John, Will, and Trent start the pod by discussing Trent's favorite person.
Lavar Ball wants to start a league that will allow high school graduates to bypass the NCAA, get paid, and spend a year under the Youth Basketball Association preparing for the NBA Draft. Can this plan work? Will there ever be a alternative route to the NBA besides the NCAA and international play?
Then we get into Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. Davis just wants to win, but will that be in New Orleans? We discuss what is the best thing not only for Davis but for DeMarcus Cousins to do as well for their futures.
Afterward, we talk about the Wolves and Thunder, two disappointments so far this year that may be on the upswing now. Will they turn it around and finish strong or do major changes need to happen?

We got a bunch of action going on in this episode of BBR. We open up with a new segment as we go through the week's news lightning round style. Then Will corrals John into doing the Beanboozle challenge which is fun but sucks too.
The first big topic we hit is the trade involving Jahlil Okafor to the Brooklyn Nets. Is this the kind of trade Philly was holding out for all along? Was the return value worth it? Can Jahlil make the best of this opportunity to revitalize his career?
After that, we jump to the Clippers. Not only has their season already been sunk, but they face a big question that they kind of have to answer by February: what do they do with DeAndre Jordan? Re-sign? Trade? What is his value? Can they trade him even if they wanted to?
One destination we discuss is the Bucks. They're young, and Giannis is emerging as one of the league's stars of the next decade. But what's the next step? Is this team ready for the addition of a solidified star? Should they wait and see how
BBR is back! We catch up on the news that has come up over the past couple weeks, and we start off with Derrick Rose taking a break from the Cavs and maybe basketball for good. We don't really know what else there is to say about Rose. From MVP to minimum contract level player, it's been a career that no one else could've imagined at the top of his game. We follow that up with the news that the Memphis Grizzlies fired David Fizdale as head coach, a move that stunned many across the league. All of the team's issues point to other sources, so why did Fizdale take the fall? Where does Memphis go from here? The next tragedy we talk about is the Clippers. Blake Griffin is out for 2 months, Patrick Beverly is out for the year, and the rest of the team is also up and down. The post-Lob City era is not off to a good start. This may be time to trade DeAndre Jordan, too. Then we give our updates for the Spurs and Rockets. Tony Parker is back and LaMarcus Aldridge is still playing at an all-star
We got our first holiday episode!! After we skim through some news about the Sixers and Cavs, we focus in on how the Rockets and Celtics are rolling through the league. Chris Paul is back, and Jaylen Brown is a man possessed. We wrap up by going through the Thanksgiving meal and creating our own NBA plates. Who is the turkey and who is the pie? Listen and find out! Remember to subscribe, share, and send us questions! Cop a shirt if you haven't already! Thanks again for listening. Intro: Super Friends Beat by Nameles. https://m.soundcloud.com/erikfontanez
The 3-Man Pod is back! Trent joins Will and John and start off talking about what's wrong with the Thunder. Paul George hasn't been as involved in the offense as Melo and Westbrook, and that seems like a problem. They have the second best defense overall but the worst defense in crunch time. How is that possible? Then we talk the Eric Bledsoe trade to the Bucks. Could the Suns have gotten more for him? How does the Bucks' outlook change with Bledsoe on the team now? Then we dig into the Rockets game against the Cavs and how they've looked so far. James Harden is carrying the team while Chris Paul recovers from his injury, but Clint Capela is looking pretty darn good too. And John has a beef with Mike D'Antoni. After that, we talk the top of the east. Are the Celtics, Pistons, and Magic for real? How did no one see their hot starts coming? Which team should we expect to maintain this success? I'm sorry, LiAngelo Ball, but next up we make fun of you. Please stop stealing in foreign count
We're spending this episode answering your questions!! They cover a wide range of topics. How can other leagues compete with the NBA's successful marketing of stars? When does taking the regular season easy go too far? And Will asks himself, how was he so wrong about Kristaps? Then we talk about Jahlil Okafor news and his future in the NBA. After that, we get into early performances that were not expected by most people. Which teams are showing their true identity and which ones are starting the season off on a fluke? We get into all that and more on your favorite podcast. For those of you wishing you had another way to support us, we have good news! We have shirts available now!
