From the Miami Design and Wynwood Art Districts to the "on the edge-of-the-ocean" vibe of South Beach, Miami Beach moves to a tropicool rhythm of its own.

This is the first in a series of updates for Art Basel Miami Beach 2009 by Ken English, the BlogTalkRadioGuy.
The Wynwood Social Club is at the epicenter of the Wynwood Art District, across the street from Joey's Wynwood Cafe. I decided to visit during Gallery Walk, 13 June 2009. This show was done with a cellphone and features brief interviews with several people.
Coral Gables Opera presented American Ideal V on Friday, 17 April 2009 at the 1st United Methodist Church of South Miami. The concert was recorded for broadcast on WLRN-TV Channel 17 in Miami later this summer. The concert featured Jean Quinn, Gibson Dorce, Samuel Eudovique, Lievens Castillo, Victoria Sassrainer, Maria Rodriguez, Terrance Smith, brothers Matthew and Jonathan Reichenberger, six year old Gracie Zhou, Melissa Ruiz and Genesis Marichel. Bella Griffith-Smith is the artistic director and founder of Coral Gables Opera. This BTR program, produced and hosted by Ken English, the BlogTalkRadioGuy, will feature guests involved in classical music.

My walking tour began with Perry Milou at the Milou Gallery. I was joined by Mamushka at her Wynwood Arts Cafe. Collage artist Erica King was at Icon Art Studio and art consultant Lenore Stern-Morris was at Lurie-Kavachnina Gallery.

Midtown Miami is the location of Miami's newsest arts district. For the first week in December, Midtown Miami will pulse with energy. Seven independent air fairs will be going on simultaneously. Art Basel Miami Beach 2008 is from December 4 to 7. Although it is the signature event, there are dozens of related, if unofficial, art fairs. The newest art district in Miami is Midtown, adjacent to Wynwood and the Design District. This year, eight separate fairs will talk place in the Midtown Art District. The largest is Art Miami.
