The Twin Cities Weepy Killer /// Part 2 /// 772 Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com In the early 1980s a deadly man was stalking the women of the Twin Cities.  He used different weapons and methods to kill his victims.  Often after a kill, the act was followed by a phone call claiming responsibility for the murder.  Why were these calls seemingly part of the killer’s M.O.?   What purpose did they serve?  Was it an act of remorse or just to taunt the protectors of these cities?  A man known as the “Weepy Voiced Killer” successfully killed women and left them on the side streets and back alleys of Minneapolis and Saint Paul and he got away with it for two years.  Beer of the Week - Mortal Bloom, Hazy IPA by Founder’s Brewing Company Garage Grade - 4 and a quarter bottle caps out of 5  More True Crime Garage can be found on Patreon and Apple subscriptions with our show - Off The Record.  Catch dozens of episodes of Off The Record plus a couple of Bonus episodes and our first 50 when you sign up today.  True Crime Garage merchandise is available on our website’s store page.  Plus get True Crime Garage Pod art that you can post on your socials on our Media page.  Follow the show on X and Insta @TrueCrimeGarage / Follow Nic on X @TCGNIC / Follow The Captain on X @TCGCaptain  Thanks for listening and thanks for telling a friend.  Be good, be kind, and don’t litter!

Brian Shaffer Interview ////// 770Part 1 of 1 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com How did Brian Shaffer a 27 year-old man at the time just simply disappear?  It's a question Columbus Police detectives and thousands from central Ohio have been asking for more than 18 years.  Brian Shaffer, was a medical student at The Ohio State University.  As legend has it; he walked into a campus bar and was never seen walking out.  Brian vanished after going out with friends on the evening of March 31st, 2006 to celebrate the beginning of spring break.  According to friends during the early morning hours of April 1st, Brian was separated from them, and they assumed he had gone home. Shaffer has not been seen or heard from since.  Columbus police have several theories about what happened; some suspicion has been directed at a friend.  While foul play is suspected, it has also been speculated that Brian might be living somewhere under a new identity.  Today we bring to you an interview with Columbus Police Sergent John Hurst who was the lead investigator in the Shaffer case.  Conducting the interview is the Captain and investigative journalist Maggie Freleng.  Beer of the Week - Henna Chocolate, Praline, Macaroon by More Brewing Company Garage Grade - 4 and a half bottle caps out of 5  Follow True Crime Garage on X and on Instagram - @TrueCrimeGarage. Please consider leaving a positive review for the show on your favorite podcast listening app.  Thanks for listening and thank you for telling a friend!
Robert Pickton /// Part 2 /// 769Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com This week we tell the tale of Robert Pickton, Canada’s most infamous serial killer.  Robert Pickton was a pig farmer turned serial killer who hit it big with the sale of a large portion of the family farm.  Instead of using his riches for good, he hosted drug and alcohol fueled parties on his disgusting farm at a place called “The Piggie Palace.”  Around this same time women started to disappear from a seedy area of Vancouver, known as “The Low Track.”  It took the police longer than it should have to learn that they had a problem, a big one.  Some mysteries remain with this case.  No one is certain how many people Pickton killed.  It also would seem like he must have had some help along the way.  Who else is responsible?  Beer of the Week - Batsquatch by Rogue Ales and SpiritsGarage Grade - 5 out of 5 bottle caps  Check out our store page and sign up for the mailing list at www.TrueCrimeGarage.com Subscribe and listen to True Crime Garage Off The Record on Patreon and Apple subscription.

West Memphis 3 /// Discussion Part 2 of 2  www.TrueCrimeGarage.comJoin Nic & The Captain in the Garage for a riveting and energy filled discussion about the West Memphis 3 case.  This case and True Crime story continues to be one of the more debated cases of the 20th century, even after more than 30 years has passed.  Why can’t we as a collective community move on from this case?  Is it because the case manages to creep its way back into the headlines, over and over again?  Or, is it because at the end of the day we are all afraid that we may never know the truth about what happened in Robin Hood Hills, on May 5th, 1993?  We are still seeking justice for Steve Branch, Michael Moore, Christopher Byers, and their families.   Beer of the Week - Meloncholy by the good folks at Tactical Brewing Co.Garage Grade - 3 and a half bottle cap out of 5  Recommended Reading - A Harvest of Innocence; the untold story of the West Memphis Three murder case by Dan Stidham  Follow True Crime Garage on X @TrueCrimeGarage / Follow Nic on X @TCGNIC / Follow The Captain on X @TCGCaptain  Listen to True Crime Garage Off The Record.  Now available on Apple Podcast Subscriptions and to everyone everywhere on Patreon.

As much as it would be nice to think that he regrets what he did, it might be more likely that his plan didn't work, and now he didn't get the estate like he wanted. He's like a big baby who didn't get his way. I think he's too narcissistic to take his own life, but he might have had a medical issue or accident after he left. Or he is still out there. Such a selfish person and lives were destroyed, and now no one got the land.

Did they find matching taillight pieces at the crime scene to match Karen’s car? I’m sorry if I missed that part! If so, anyone at the bar that night could have broken her taillight and took the pieces with them to plant OR she really did hit him. I don’t freaking know man but I wish I would’ve been a tree branch that night! Lol

I think it was the über driver. you don't call 911 from the Uber app and then change the drop-off address. I think something happened in the car, and the driver just took an address from his contact list. Did the driver not have a camera in the car? What about his cell phone information? I want more information about the driver!!

if the prosecution is shot down, its going to be because of that Proctor guy and the sloppy investigation. OMG, what kind of investigations are they doing there? Need to go back to school. I wonder how many of the right people get convicted??

if the police know Mr. Carport, they should say so, so people stop wondering about the sketch.

I wonder if he fell asleep on his mode of transportation and ended up in an unfamiliar area. Back then, it wasn't easy to make a phone call, and not as easy to get money from a bank if you needed it. He might have been robbed and then had a medical emergency. It's so hard to say.

That take out cup being by the body is a bad sign for her. If he wasn't hit right after he got out of the car holding it, he would either need to somehow still have it on him through a beating or he would need to be a litterbug that just happened to be dumped outside near where he dropped it, neither of which seems as likely as him being hit with it still in his hand.
