Eventually Tony is released to the UK but the police are on to him, he is once again the subject of police surveillance. He goes to ground, he puts together a gang of ‘misfits’, a prison governor, a boxer, a banker and others. But the police have set up an operation to catch Tony and his accomplices. The story is familiar, but how does it all end? Is there an inevitability to it? A well respected barrister who defended Tony at some of his trials gives his thoughts on the man that he knew, a rare insight into the professional relationship that a lawyer and client have. The story has been told in these episodes, largely by Jason, Tony’s youngest son, the author of ‘The Old Man and Me’. But what does he make of the life his father lived? How has the family been affected by Tony’s criminality? And what can he now do to help the forgotten children of those people who commit crime and are incarcerated as a result. _____________________ See photos, case notes and bonus material at http://truecrimeinvestigators.co.uk/ Researched and presented by John & Sally of True Crime Investigators UK. By now he is in the Netherlands. He’s been inside for a long time and his trusted workers have either given up on a life of crime or have made their money and scarpered. So he is dealing with those he knows less well and whose ‘work’ ethics are different, harsher, more brutal. There’s a shoot out. Tony takes a bullet to the chest and a drug rival lies dead. He fights for his life. During his period of recovery, Tony sets up again in Spain and for a few years he sends drugs from Morocco and the continent into the UK using boats and lorries to convey the products. But the past has a way of catching up. He’s extradited for the death of the drug rival. What’s the verdict? _____________________ See photos, case notes and bonus material at http://truecrimeinvestigators.co.uk/ Researched and presented by John & Sally of True Crime Investigators UK. Whilst serving his prison sentence, he is the model prisoner and as he readies himself for release he indulges in the prison’s art classes. Is he turning a corner? Is this a new career path? Of course not, it's his next adventure, counterfeiting millions of American dollars and he uses the art as a guise for perfecting the production of cash notes. Within months of release Tony’s on the run from the Police. He meets Crystal and deceives her with his charm and lies. After capture, trial and conviction he is handed a lengthy prison sentence but Crystal remains loyal until he embarks on his plan for release - drugs. She cannot expose her family to this criminality and the marriage that was conducted within the prison walls ends in divorce. The drugs business leads him to another trial but his charm is not lost on the jury. After acquittal he drinks with them and suspicions arise that the jury has been ‘nobbled’. _____________________ See photos, case notes and bonus material at http://truecrimeinvestigators.co.uk/ Researched and presented by John & Sally of True Crime Investigators UK. Listen to the early years of Tony Spencer’s life. A young man finding his way in the world but crime plays a part. He meets Jane, they are just teenagers when they marry and she falls pregnant with their first child. But Tony’s criminality sees him sent to Borstal. Over the next few years their family grows but Tony’s is still involved in criminality. He builds an empire of second hand shops and gymnasiums, this is legitimate business and delivers a level of success. But then he needs crime to support the businesses. Tony turns to the one thing he thinks will bring him the cash injection he needs to keep his businesses afloat; crime. He robs a bank at gunpoint. The consequences of his actions are grave, 10 years imprisonment. Whilst Tony and Jane spin a story that Dad is at ‘college’ to protect their young children, the truth is it’s a strain on the relationship. _____________________ See photos, case notes and bonus material at http://truecrimeinvestigators.co.uk/ Researched and presented by John & Sally of True Crime Investigators UK. We’re back with a brand new #TrueCrime podcast as we look into the murder of Joan Woodhouse, whose body was discovered in Arundel Park, West Sussex on Tuesday August 10th, 1948. She had been raped and strangled. But why was she at that location? She had told everybody she was going in the opposite direction to the North of England to visit her family. So what happened to her on that scorching hot August Bank Holiday weekend? Join us both, as we travel to the scene of the murder to uncover the truth, talk to a number of experts, family connections and look into a literal ‘case of mystery’. Can we uncover what really happened? Researched and presented by John & Sally. Produced and Edited by Peter Beeston. Narration by Angela Ness.
In the Autumn of 1980, a young aristocratic Englishman, Michael Telling, was in Sausalito, a city in Marin County, California, across the Golden Gate Strait from San Francisco, USA. He was riding a special edition Harley Davidson motorcycle. A chance meeting with an American couple, Lou and Elsa Zumsteg, their daughter Erika and other friends, whilst out for a motorcycle ride, was to change their lives forever... Welcome to the final part of our #truecrime investigation into the murder of Monika Zumsteg Telling. In this third episode we discuss what happened after Monika’s headless body was discovered in a wooded area near Exeter Racecourse. We also talk about how Michael had tried to cover up the murder; which had happened five months earlier when Monika was shot and killed and how he had kept Monika’s body in the outdoor Sauna at Lambourne House. Followed by his arrest and subsequent trial in 1984. Violent crimes and murders. They can affect and leave deep scars on even the most strongest of families. So we again talk with Erika (Monika’s sister) and discuss how the Zumsteg family tried to cope with their loss and the deep pain it caused them over the years. If we can, we hope we have helped give Monika a voice during these three episodes and helped tell her sad side of the story to all of you.

This is the final part of our investigation into the story of ‘Operation Julie’, which was a UK police investigation into LSD production by two drug rings during the mid-1970s and resulted in the break-up of one of the largest LSD manufacturing operations in the world. In this four part series, we have been interviewing one of the undercover officers involved in the operation; Stephen Bentley and discussing the twists, turns and dangers of the investigation. As well as the people he had to get close to. We’ve also talked about wider issues within undercover policing. In this last episode, Stephen talks about wrapping up his undercover work in LLanddewi Brefi and planning to take part in the joint police raids which will target 87 properties in Wales and England, bringing down the different LSD production gangs. Was he affected by living as a different person for so long? Researched, produced and presented by John & Sally. Narration by Richard Ashwell.

In the new episode of ‘True Crime Investigators UK’, we look at the tragic death of Michael Pritchard, a delivery driver for Business Express in the Staffordshire and Derbyshire area. Who on Wednesday the 12th November 1997, was murdered by a young man who tried to steal his van and in doing so, ran him over and killed him. The murder is still undetected and as John was originally the family liaison officer in the case; this is still an investigation that he often thinks about. We hope by looking further into what happened on that day and talking to Michael’s widow Hilary, we can tell you more about their story and ask you to help us catch the people responsible.
