Amber Manthorne was last seen in her Vancouver Island community of Port Alberni on July 7, 2022, leaving her loved ones and the community searching for answers. Her white 2021 Jeep Compass was found abandoned two days later, near a logging road outside Nanaimo. In a chilling twist, security footage shows her ex-boyfriend, Justin Hall, driving her vehicle and struggling with a suitcase and a large plastic tote in the early hours of July 8. The large black plastic tote seen in the footage has never been recovered. The RCMP now believe that Amber was likely the victim of foul play, with Hall as a key person of interest. Yet Hall's own death in Merritt last year has left police with more questions than answers, and Amber’s family still waits for closure. In this episode, we speak with Laura Palmer, host of the podcast Island Crime, who covered Amber’s case in-depth. Together, we examine the events surrounding Amber’s disappearance, the disturbing details caught on camera, and the lingering questions that haunt those still hoping for answers.RCMP Press Release: https://bc-cb.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/ViewPage.action?siteNodeId=2136&languageId=1&contentId=85797Check out "Island Crime": https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/island-crime/id1513479877Finding Amber Manthorne Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1407755686318181--This podcast is recorded on the territories of the Coast Salish people.Music Composed by: Sayer Roberts - https://soundcloud.com/user-135673977 // shorturl.at/mFPZ0Subscribe to TNTC+ on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/TNTCJoin our Patreon: www.patreon.com/tntcpodMerch: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/true-north-true-crime?ref_id=24376Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tntcpod/Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/tntcpodFollow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/truenorthtruecrime Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Join us as we sit down with History of the 90's host, Kathy Kenzora to discuss the tragic 1997 murder of Reena Virk. Reena Virk was a 14-year-old girl from Saanich, British Columbia, Canada, who was murdered in November 1997. She was lured to a secluded area by a group of teenagers, including Kelly Ellard and Warren Glowatski, where she was brutally beaten and drowned. The case gained widespread attention due to its shocking nature and the young age of both the victim and the perpetrators. Kelly Ellard, who was 15 at the time of the murder, was eventually convicted of second-degree murder after multiple trials, and Warren Glowatski was convicted of manslaughter.Listen to History of the 90s: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/history-of-the-90s/id1201927184--Subscribe to TNTC+ on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/TNTCJoin our Patreon: www.patreon.com/tntcpodMerch: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/true-north-true-crime?ref_id=24376Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tntcpod/Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/tntcpodFollow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/truenorthtruecrime Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. the way this story has usually been told, is that Karissa "wanted to" live with her mother. But what I have just heard has finally convinced me otherwise. So why did the mother want to have Karissa live with her? it sounds like a scheme long in the planning.
They actually haven't found any bodies... They seem to just be trying to push an agenda. 🙄
Great podcasting 🤙
I'd rather listen to people interact, not just constant and only talk by the hosts. It's too tough on my ears!
great podcasting, l love your show.
how does Bruce MacArthur have parole eligibility?
you said she wished to remain anonymous and then not even a minute later, you said her name...
this is an excellent podcast that really did a fine job covering this case so far. cannot deal with the fact that there might be NO justice in this case.
EMERICA! the land of the "free"
the femicide laws are an improvement, because it finally demonstrates a will to prosecute. still, femicide is still treated as if it is legally a lesser crime than murder. once again women's status as less than human is enshrined in law, even when there is a will to end impunity.
this murderer's life is better than mine. he is basically on my dream vacation. these "mediation" sessions sound like pure Hell and torture for the families of those murdered. Canada sure has deviously effective ways to punish the victims of violent crime and their families.
This is a deeply fascinating & troubling episode. Cam's mother is truly a force of nature. I feel a great deal of respect for her & how she is taking on several large groups of hostile people, many of which are officials & officers with varying degrees of power at their disposal; these facts don't deter Cam's mother. Oh no. She just puts her head down, thinking cap on, & slowly but surely out foxes them one & all. Very well researched & communicated.
we're putting warning labels on stories about the worst things that could happen to a person? what are we doing here folks.
