Helping Christians understand the times through a Biblical lens.

235: Is Liberal Christianity Biblical?

Roughly 100 years ago, Presbyterian minister by the name of J. Gresham Machen wrote a book called Christianity and Liberalism. In that book, he argued that there's no such thing as liberal Christianity and conservative Christianity, but rather that liberal Christianity is not Christianity at all. In fact, this is an entirely different religion. He made that argument a century ago, which is fascinating, because that argument has simply gained traction, in my mind, as the decades have unfolded. Machen, in his generation, never had to consider the idea of same sex marriage or lesbian preachers or transgender denominational leaders. And yet, his argument was, because liberal Christianity, what we today call progressive Christianity, because that theological tradition has jettisoned biblical authority, once biblical authority is off the table, now there are no natural limits to the progression of ideas that the religion canpromote. That's precisely what we've seen. Liberal Christianity, progressive Christianity, knows no boundaries. And now, the religious left is going voting.R. 234: The Left, The Right, and Antisemitism

In our generation, there is an increasing scent of anti-Semitism in the air. We've seen it for years in the United Nations. We've seen it for years on the progressive left. But we're beginning to see it in the very neighborhoods of traditional support for Israel: the conservative right, both politically and theologically. Let's reexamine this... philosophy, this idea, that has taken hold in contemporary discussion. Daniel R. 233: Who Is Watching the Watchers?

The president of the United States recently held a conference at the White House where he invited scientists and researchers and other experts in what we call artificial intelligence. As a result of that meeting, Donald Trump suggested that maybe moving forward, we should change our terminology and refer to this thing as supreme intelligence. 232: Is Basic Biology a Difficult Subject?

In one of the funniest news stories to come out in a while, we have the implosion of the Women's National Basketball Association. The WNBA, the Women's National Basketball Association. As it turns out, the women who run the league, and the women who coach the league, and the women who play in the league, don't know what a woman is. You can't make this up. Ray Hacke, “Poison Ivy in women’s golf,” August 27, 2026._________, “Inclusion leading to implosion,” August 7, 2026.Liz Lykins, “Former NBA player ejected from arena at WNBA game,” August 24, 2026.

231: SEP 11, 2026, My How the World Has Changed

September the 11th, 2026. Twenty-five years from that horrendous day that we now, by shorthand, simply refer to as “Nine Eleven”. How have we come in just 2.5 decades from our largest city, New York City, being attacked by Muslim terrorists, to this day where New York City is now presided over by a Muslim mayor? It's a remarkable story, and we need to examine it. Joe Rigney, “Mosques and idols in America,” September 3, 2026. A.S.
