Welcome to more spooky season goodness. This year, at the beginning of October in fact, marks the 75th anniversary of Peanuts. It's the 59th anniversary of the animated special It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, but the 66th anniversary of the first mention of the Great Pumpkin from 1959!
So to celebrate all those, and the fact that James just read this book, we're discussing the book "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the Making of a Television Classic" by Lee Mendelson (with remembrances by Bill Melendez).
We won't give it all away. You should go buy the book. But we do talk about a few neat things, regarding the making of the show, between this and other found interviews.
So pour yourself a pint of pumpkin juice and enjoy with sincerity!
Next week's midweek spooky season episode is on the spooky haunts of Mulligan's (Dublin) Pub.

Welcome back to the Manor and welcome back to more spooky fun! We're starting out October with an excellent creepy story on the final days of Percy Bysshe Shelley and his encounters with his own spooky doppelganger. Did it herald his death? Cause it? A symptom of madness? Oooooh... spooky!
Next week's midweek spooky season episode is about Peter Cushing's thoughts on horror.

Welcome back to the Manor! And what better way to start the official start of spooky month than with a local Hoosier author! Join us for a discussion on the excellent horror novel "8114" by Joshua Hull.
But wait! There's more! We (James) actually interviews the famed author himself! So listen in on that excellent bit of talk and then join the Terrors as they discuss the book together.
If you only want to listen to Joshua's bit, scroll forward to around 6:50 and go to around 1:10:58.
"8114" is available from CLASH Books at the usual online book sellers, as well as the best of brick and mortar stores.
Josh's book "Mouth," also mentioned in the episode, is available similarly from Tenebrous Press.
This Friday's spooky season episode is about The Eerie Doppelganger of Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Welcome back to the Manor and welcome to more spooky season spookiness! This episode is on the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Does this sound familiar? Since we did the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Show (musical stage show) a couple years ago.
So join us for the background on the movie version! In fact, today is literally the 50th anniversary of its release in the United States! "Well, how about that" indeed! You're welcome!
This Friday's episode is about Halloween costumes and Ben Cooper.

Welcome back to the Manor and welcome to Hobbit Day 2025! Otherwise known as our anniversary, although I suppose this is technically coming out just a few days before that.
This time, we're discussing the horror aspects of "The Fellowship of the Ring," as well as some etymology that we've found (****ing philologists!).
Pour yourself a pint and put some shag into your pipe and enjoy!
Next week's episode is about (stay tuned... we have no idea as of the time we recorded this what is coming next!

Welcome back to the Manor and welcome back to this year's extended spooky season! Today we're talking about the haunted brewery in Auburn, Indiana, the Auburn Brewing Company. And a little bit on Gen Con from this year. Enjoy the spookiness!

Welcome back to the Macabre Manor! And welcome to spooky season! This year, we're starting early, but since most of us start celebrating Halloween in September (or earlier) anyway, why not?! Plus, this will either make it easier on us or you'll get even more spooky episodes this season!
This episode is on the 40th anniversary of The Black Cauldron. A very misunderstood spooky animated film that we dig, even if we understand the issues with it. So pour yourself a beer, be aware of the Horned king, and enjoy!
Next week's episode is on the Auburn (Indiana) haunted brewery... unless we end up doing a mid-week episode.

Welcome back to the Manor! A few episodes ago, James mentioned that while Guinness would be his beer of choice, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to pick it out in a blind taste test. So he picked up four different Irish stouts, all in nitro cans, and has done a blind taste test! Will he pick which is Guinness? Listen in!
Also, he had two more nitro cans of Guinness to see which pours better, the standard tilt or the "shove it straight down and let it flow" method that has been making the rounds on social media. Which is better? Listen in!
We also have video of this one! We have no idea if we'll set it up to be shared, but at least there's proof of no hoodwinkery!
Pour yourself a pint and enjoy!
EDIT: we were told by an excellent listener that, although we do discuss Guinness often, there was a Guinness specific episode from James' trip to Ireland, so we've updated this to say Guinness episode 2! Thanks!
Next week's episode is about the 40th anniversary of Disney's "The Black Cauldron".

Welcome back to the Manor! As usual, when we're ramping up for spooky season, we find a few easier episodes to put out before then. This time, James had been reading several beer related books from England/Britain and Ireland and put together some trivia. We're calling it part five because we've done this before, but never actually used this type of title, so don't feel bad if you can't find the first four. They weren't called this. We have plenty of previous similar episodes, though.
So pour yourself a pint and enjoy!
Next week's episode is about (stay tuned - at this point we're not sure -- but maybe Guinness related?).

Welcome back to the Manor! We briefly mentioned doing this episode a while back, during the Monty Python and the Holy Grail episodes, and here it is! Nerd dice! The largest possible fair die and also a set of dice that are the same as usually dice but with lower probability of getting doubles. Want more? Listen on?
Next week's episode is about... honestly, we're not sure. We're two months ahead of schedule!.

We interrupt our normal schedule (okay, we don't really have a normal schedule, so we're good anyway) to bring you a farewell and a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. We recorded this two days after his passing, but did want to get the second episode of Mellencamp's Scarecrow out on time.
We get into our favorite albums and stories of Ozzy, whether about him or about us that involves him in any way, and a bit more. A very reflective episode, but we'll eventually get into the actual Black Sabbath and Ozzy episodes once the one of us who wants to do them is ready.
We hope you enjoy.
Next week's episode is about nerd dice.

Welcome back to the Manor! This year marks the 40th anniversary of the album "Scarecrow" by John Mellencamp. After episode one, released back on July 4th for reasons, we're now releasing part 2, recorded on the same night, but we're putting it out today, as it was actually released 40 years ago yesterday. (Which is why we're releasing it a day ahead of time on the 31st instead of Friday the 1st! But no, we're not releasing another tomorrow!)
We get into the album, the songs, how it reflects the plight of farmers, and more. Pour yourself a pint and listen in.
Next week's episode is about nerd dice.

Welcome back to the Manor and welcome to our 400th episode! To celebrate the milestone, we're going back to one of our most beloved topics, Lord of the Rings! We've each picked a fan theory that we found on-line and discuss what we agree and what we disagree about them. Pour yourself a pint of brown ale from The Green Dragon, tamp your Old Toby into your pipe, and enjoy!
Next week's episode is about (stay tuned).

Welcome back to the Manor! This week, we're discussing literary firsts. That is, which were the first sci-fi and fantasy and general fiction books ever written. Join in on the conversation! If you have a different idea, let us know!
And we can hear you saying "what, no horror?"
We did horror already! Go back and listen to all of our Halloween episodes and you'll find it. All one billion of them, mwahahahahahaha!!!
So pour yourself a pint and enjoy!
Next week's episode is our 400th! A nice short episode with some Tolkien fan theories.
