In this episode, Israel and Eli sit down with entrepreneur, founder of Lady Leaders and Miss Arizona 2019, Jacqueline Thomas, to talk about her experience in DC, background and upbringing, her time with the Miss America Organization and the work that Lady Leaders is doing across the country.   Who is Jacqueline?   Jacqueline Thomas is a female entrepreneur, Miss America titleholder, and a press and communications professional.    A native to Arizona, Jacqueline competed for the title of Miss Arizona 6 times before capturing the title in 2019.  During her time as the longest reigning Miss Arizona, she was nominated as one of the Most Influential Women in the Arizona because of her work with Lady Leaders, which has held partnerships with three major universities, two U.S. Senators, three non-profits, and numerous businesses.  At Miss America 2020, Jacqueline was named a top 5 finalist for the Women in Business Scholarship Award.    During her time as the spokeswoman of Arizona for the Miss America Organization, she gained unparalleled communications and PR experience in front and behind the camera. This experience led her to become the youngest Deputy Press Secretary of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the largest law enforcement agency in the world. With the closest family over 2800 miles away, Arianne Yago had to navigate learning, building a network and professional brand all by herself. She now shares her tips for thriving as a first generation student, establishing a network and building a long lasting legacy.   Arianne Yago is a first generation student with a Masters Degree in Human Relations and a Bachelor Degree in Strategic Communication. She founded the A. Yago Scholarship, a scholarship for first-generation college students attending Northern Arizona University, in memory of her late grandfather Antonio Yago. Antonio was an advocate for higher education and sparked Arianne's passion for academia. Arianne is the reigning Miss Arizona Collegiate United States, the recipient of NAU's President's Achievement Award, serves as the Institutional Representative for Arizona Women in Higher Education (AWHE), and is on the EDUCAUSE Young Professionals Advisory Committee (YPAC).
