W are joined by one of our fellow Cardinal Graduate Students Gustavo Herrera from the Nutrition Department. On the final day of our Mission trip, Gustavo was awarded by La Villa De Zachila, for his nobility and hard work! Gustavo represented UIW in the outmost integrity way and continues to set the example for future generations to come.
As we continue our Quijotes Series, we are joined today by Beatriz Rojas. Beatriz has been a member of the Quijotes from the start, and continues to find her way back to Oaxaca, providing service in the pharmaceutical field.
An introduction to Los Quijotes. Los Quijotes are a group of doctors and dentists who have devoted their efforts to serve Impoverished communities for over 35 years now. This episode features one of the first members Sor Maria Luisa Velez.
Eva Davila has a long and respectfull history with UIW. She recently served as Student Government President from 2021 - 2022.

Dr. Arturo Chavez is the Associate Vice President for Mission & Ministry and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion here at UIW. Dr. Arturo Chavez Chávez has had an illustrious career in the fields of social services, social justice and higher education. In 2009, Chávez’s efforts were recognized by President Obama when he was appointed to the White House Council on Faith-based Partnerships. He worked with 24 leaders representing every major faith tradition to strengthen ways that the U.S. Government can partner with nonprofits and faith communities to address poverty, racism, threats to the environment, access to healthcare and other issues of common concern. In 2010, the Catholic Charities USA recognized Chávez with the MLK “Keep the Dream Alive Award” for his efforts to combat racism. His passion for his work unmeasurable!
Dr. Bishop Trevor Alexander who is the instructor for Protestant Chaplin here at UIW. Dr. Bishop Trevor, is an educated scholar, decorated veteran, and the Bishop to the True Vine Church. His latest research has been on African American families.
Dr. Lopita Nath is the Chair of the History Department and the Coordinator of the Asian Studies Program at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas. Her latest class, "Global Refugees", has been her focus and done extensive research.

In this episode, we will be speaking with our friends from the Physical Therapy Department in Mexico City, Dr. Santiago Ordonez & Dr. Bernando Praget. Both Santiago and Bernando volunteered with the Quijotes back in 2017 during their undergrad years. Now, they return to Oaxaca as Doctors taking on a more leadership role, collaborating with our PT Doctors from UIW and sharing knowledge with our PT students.
Dr. Garg specializes in the care of diabetic ocular complications, glaucoma and retinal disease associated with systemic conditions. Her experiences led her to fulfill a desire in teaching at UIW and solidify the importance of eyecare in rural settings. Dr. Garg's commitment to health care extends beyond her local experiences. Her compassion for the underserved community led her on several mission trips including El Salvador, Dominican Republic, India, Haiti and Cambodia.
After 71 years of of uninterrupted rule by the Institutional Revolutionary Party Vicente Fox rose to presidency and revolutionized politics forever. He is the 62nd President of Mexico.
